Wednesday July 29, 2009 was just like any other day, only it was the HOTTEST day in the entire HISTORY of Seattle, WA! What's a girl to do when temps hit the low 100's? Find AC of course, and quickly. After getting a quick bite, I decided it'd be a good idea to go see a movie at this local establishment. I sincerely, and I do mean SINCERELY regret coming to this movie theater on the hottest day of the year. Here's why: I purchase my movie ticket with a pal, stand in a heinous line outside...ONE ticket person working the window. Hmm...why is it when it's snowing there are three working? Overall just ticked that I had to sweat most of my body weight yet again for the day I go inside. AC heaven in the lobby. We go into the dark theater--it's packed. Not one seat open. Said movie was out for weeks prior. The movie starts and I think to myself "Wow, it is SO SO hot in here, I am sweating!" Myself, being so self deprecating thinking "it's just me; there's a lot of people in here." Minutes pass by, I'm getting really into this movie, but I can't seem to help wonder why I'm still sweating like I just ate ten nuclear hot wings. The movie ends, I watch as my entire fellow movie goers walk out into the lobby...dripping. The lobby is blasting AC, and I watch two fellow customers walk over and immediately ask for a manager. Being in customer relations myself, I purposefully stall, because I want to see how this is going to go down. Two IRATE customers, whom I soon follow suit demand refunds after the sadly incompetent general manager of the theater tells us "oh, the AC was broken in that theater." ARE YOU KIDDING ME, I spent the hottest day in the HISTORY of Seattle in a theater with BROKEN AIR CONDITIONING?! The manager admits he knew the AC was broken, and didn't alert any customers. An extremely irate customer stated that he had left our movie, and walked into another one just to see if there wasn't any AC in our theater. This customer had then alerted the manager, and the manager told this customer that "It's fixed now." I stand there and watch as a crowd of angry customers demand other refunds. The manager refuses. I realize there is obviously a food chain here...everyone has a boss. Customers are yelling, and a crowd is forming. The managers' reasoning is laughable "Well you folks already saw the movie, why should I give you a refund?" Everyone loses it. I feel like I'm in the middle of an anti war protest. The manager finally gives in and my movie is comped. Honestly, the worst customer service, plus really crappy theater anyways. At $10.00 a movie, I'd rather go sit in a new theater with a trained manager. read more
