Sir K.

So like normal, I'm going to start with what I HATE about this place. The fact that they don't assign seats when you buy in this day & age is insane! Had I known that it was going to be THIS packed, I would've shown up like an hour earlier! Secondly and this is huge, the fuckin seats don't recline. Do you have any idea how much my back hurt, sitting in tje fuckin neck-break row (The very front row) For THREE HOURS watching  DUNE 2??? Having said all of that, let me explain what I DID enjoy about my experience at The Boeing & PACCAR IMAX Theater at The Pacific Science Theater. It is the 2nd largest IMAX screen on the West Coast. The screen itself is 60 feet high by 80 feet wide & was introduced in 2015. The sound system is digital & is all encompassing in this somewhat dome-shaped theatre. After leaving the theatre, I am now considering getting a bigger smart TV (75-85 inches). The BEST addition, in my opinion, is that they have recently started selling craft beer & wine. Only local breweries & wineries so they are helping local businesses as well. Which is VERY fuckin cool. Now, would I recommend this theatre after all the bitching I just did? YES. NOW that I know what to expect, I can plan accordingly. Plus, this theatre has such a dedicated crowd of regulars. While I was there, it was apparent that a lot of these people enjoy seeing movies there and that made it suck a LITTLE less.

Outside the theater - be careful Boeing IMAX and Paccar IMAX share the same address!

An annual Christmas tradition of ours is to catch at least one blockbuster movie with family at the Boeing IMAX theater, located at the Seattle Pacific Science Center. We are lucky to have a relative who's a sponsor of the Science Center, so we normally get free passes to movies. Regular weekend/holiday prices are about $35. Note this is a Non-Profit theater, so things are a but different: * No movie trailers, other than a short promotional video about PSC and Seattle. * No late seating - the let the lines in and you need to find your seat quickly. * Limited concession options * Limited seating - I think the screen is gigantic floor-to-ceiling, but the theater is almost always 100% full. No reserved seating either. What hasn't changed is the IMAX experience - excellent sound and visuals, especially for 3D movies. There's no bad seat in the house, even from the sides or from the first few rows. Seats have also gotten better and more comfy over the years. TIPS * As for parking, we pay the $10-$13 (3 hrs) at the James Claypool Garage which is an easy walk to the PSC. * Make sure you go to the correct theater - the Boeing IMAX is located in a science building with a dome and you actually walk down a ramp. If you're walking outside toward water fountains and dinosaur statues - turn around since that's the Paccar IMAX for educational films!

Rah!!! Going Rogue!

My favorite theater in Seattle!!!! The best! And it is non profit!! The sound! The effects!! The visual!! Beyond amazing. I try to watch almost all my favorite movies here. I love that they are also selective on which movies to play!! Best part: going through science center: space needle view: the stunning arches!! The views!!!! The a ok part/ this isn't a movie business!! They don't have over the top things to sell you! Coffee is usually the sbux bottles: popcorn soda but very limited! Which is a ok. The not great part/ no late seatings or entry! Not even 5 mins! And not even with your ticket!! Better not be late!!! Also: parking! You're watching it right underneath and next to the city's iconic and most popular attractions!!! It's bound to be busy no matter when!!! The movies in Boeing iMax! My favorite!! Paccar is their another theater. It's a ok. Older and remodeled but shorter seats: not much leg room. Rather uncomfortable to watch a movie there!!! Still: best views and best theater!!

Gorgeous new place on the block!!…read more Stunning new event space right in south lake union/ downtown with sweeping lake union views. Views alone were worth a trip or 4!! Came for the opening of this shiny new spot yesterday. A gorgeous 3,000 square foot event space that was completely remodeled: with in house catering, vendors, event planners, photo booths, musician! And the food. It was like going to a super fun wedding minus the formality of it. The owner was there as well: super passionate and shared the story of how she bought this space sight unseen: took a long process in turning this into a gorgeous space that it is now. It was super cool! And the food!! They allow outside catering too but the in-house catering: Kaspar catering : baos topped with micro greens and mint. Steamed to serve! Poke rolls :delicious! Panna cotta : in a cup! Lisa Dupar catering: this one was fantastic as I've had a chance to taste their food in the past at a wedding. The gorgeous cupcakes, macarons, molasses cookies and stunning cake. All were so pretty! Mark ryan wine! I mean, what's not to love as it's one of the wineries I frequent in Woodinville wine country. My pup baci's favorite too. Luxe Photo Booth: this one was so fun! The 360 Photo Booth!! I've seen them in Time Squares recently as well as at a valentines event. But this one was so much more fun as I didn't have to wait in line or fight the crowd for it. The person that was running it was super friendly and helpful too. The jazz musician was pretty rad too. And they had valet!! Butler Valet: All the friendly guys in uniform waiting for you as you arrived during rush hour in downtown: pretty darn cool. All events should be this cool. I'm only going to events with valet from now on! Ok thanks. Overall, this was such a fun place.I came to check out the space: left with all the food and fun.The space, the team, the design, the music!! And that Photo Booth: all are essential part of throwing an epic event. All events should be this fun!! I guess they will be if you throw them here: weddings, birthdays, corporate events, sweet 16th. I wouldn't mind coming here for a photoshoot: hello contents!!Or just a fun anything event.Did I mention the views?? Ahh the possibilities!!!

The experience exceeded my expectations, specifically for exceptional service! As we walked in the door, the hostess was super friendly. We sat at the large high-top table with the fire pit nearest to the hostess stand with a view of the water. Our server, Amber, consistently went above and beyond and carried herself with a bubbly and positive aura. She guided our selections of fries, fish tacos, salmon mousse, and tuna poke bites and frequently checked on us to make sure we were doing okay. Amber was also very professional and polite when she cleared plates and dropped off the drinks and food. Speaking of the food, every dish had great presentation. I wouldn't say the taste was out of the world but everything was still good and worth the price. The two hours we spent there flew by and by the time we decided to wrap up, all three of us were commenting on the great service (which led me to write this review). As a final gesture of hospitality by the restaurant, the hostess let my mom keep the bar purse hook that was given to her to hang her purse. I will definitely come back here the next time I'm in Seattle.

For an…read moreover $300 tab, our server checked on us approximately 3 times, the introduction, to take our drink/appetizer order, and to take our dinner order. Following the initial three visits, the last time we were visited was to ask if we wanted dessert, to which I asked for the check. The manager, Scott, filled in the gap of noticing when my partner was low on a beverage and checking to see if we liked our food. Taste is subjective, however, it was shocking to experience the lack of the most basic seasonings... salt. The most minuscule amount would have made a difference. I would have asked for some but again, there wasn't much of an opportunity. The steak which costed $79, seemed to lack a salted seared crust. The $16 dollar foraged and sautéed mushroom, might as well been foraged tossed in a frying pan to make them soggy without the slightest hint of salt, pepper, or even butter. The reviews seemed decent and the views looked beautiful but if you're looking to spend money on a nice evening, I would suggest looking elsewhere, as I would take okay service and great food over okay service and okay (expensive) food.

Good thing that we coud change seat and come closer because a lot of seats were empty. Overall was good to be out. Overall its a good event space with bathrooms and 2nd floor. We had the chance to photograph a summer wedding there, and I was absolutely blown away by the space, the staff, and the overall experience. The couple we worked with had gotten engaged in Paris and wanted their wedding to reflect that romantic, European flair. The Ruins, with its opulent, maximalist style and stunning hand-painted ballroom, was the perfect fit. Every room felt like stepping into a different storybook, and the attention to detail in the decor made for the most magical, photo-ready moments. Their guests were wow'd at every turn--it was truly an experience, not just an event. From a vendor perspective, the staff couldn't have been better. Friendly, helpful, and incredibly accommodating. The on-site coordinator, Ruby, is a total gem! Even when a few minor hiccups popped up (as they always do), she handled everything with grace and efficiency, keeping the day running smoothly and stress-free for everyone involved. If you're a couple looking for a unique, visually rich venue that feels intimate, whimsical, and timeless all at once--The Ruins is it.
