ok i absolutely LOVE improv....i volunteer, i watch shows, i've taken classes. but by far the best decision i have made is to have jet city perform at my wedding!!!!!! My guests are RAVING about the performance. What an incredible group of performers. Thank you for braking the ice and helping two families become one!!!!! Thank you chris for being such an incredible teacher! If it wasn't for you in improv 101 i would never have come to love improv so much. It has helped me as a sales person and all around in many social situations. Thank all three of you for making the wedding so incredible!

Fun evening at Jet City. The comedy was great (early show you can bring under 21). Food is pretty darn tasty particularly the chicken!

When I politely asked to place the wristband on my wife myself, he refused. I calmly repeated the request, and another staff member stepped in and said it was fine for me to put the wristband on myself -- which is all I had originally asked for. However, when it was my turn, the original employee then stated that he did not want to put it on me because of "his religion." The timing of that comment -- immediately after reviewing my ID -- was extremely uncomfortable and raised serious concerns for me. Despite another staff member already agreeing to the simple solution, the situation was escalated, we were told to leave, and police were called by the venue. We complied and left without entering or receiving the service we paid for. We were also refused a refund despite being denied entry. After reading other reviews mentioning discriminatory or racist treatment, this experience feels even more troubling. I hope management investigates this matter and ensures that all customers are treated fairly and professionally.

While the venue seats only 70 people, it looks small, but everything is laid out nicely, so I did not feel claustrophobic. Looking forward to attending more shows here. We received VIP treatment with the ability to walk in early and pick our own table. The food and drinks were equally as amazing and the staff were impeccable. Thank you for a great experience!

The owner came out before the show and explicitly told the audience no talking. Within minutes, the guy to our left was talking through the entire main act. Nobody stopped him. To our right, a visibly drunk woman kept getting served, kept talking, and eventually spilled her drink all over the person sitting in front of her. Nobody stopped that either. Because the staff did nothing, other audience members had to step in and confront the drunk people themselves. That created real tension in the room -- which is about the last thing you want at a comedy show. You're supposed to leave laughing. We left stressed. I've been to the Comedy Store and the Comedy Cellar. Neither of those places would have let any of that happen. People get cut off. Talkers get handled. The show gets protected. That's not a luxury -- that's basic management. Seattle doesn't have many comedy clubs, and the ones that exist should understand that better than anyone. After the show, the owner apologized and offered us free tickets to any show for or non-reserved seating. We paid for reserved seats and got offered the back of the room as compensation. That's not making it right, that's making it worse. If you're going to charge people good money for a night out, you have to be able to control the room. Last night they couldn't, and we paid the price for it.

Well, you're in luck, because it's been reborn as a comedy venue / moviehouse / occasional live music spot, which I only wish I'd discovered sooner. And -- it's being run by the good folks at The Crocodile. Incredible. I bought tickets in December for the Wheatus acoustic show here in April, and was thrilled to learn that it would be in the old stadium-style seating that remains from Big Picture. The adjacent bar has been reborn, and it's cool AF. The walls are decorated floor-to-ceiling with vintage show posters from the Crocodile, along with photos of famous Seattle musicians (like Hole and Nirvana). The bar sells food from Tat's Deli, along with a full drink menu. And -- bonus! -- you can order to / from your seat once the show starts. There's not a bad seat in the house. What a cool spot to see an intimate show. Bonus: you can walk in off the street and grab food from Tat's, or order online and take it to go. Why aren't more people shouting from the rooftops about this place?!

Even during the homeless days with the Capitol Hill and U District tweens with patchwork jackets and dogs mobbing around in packs this theatre was in good condition. I have over 20 years of memories coming here watching indie movies like Pirana, docuseries to Siff films. I also watched plenty of blockbuster films. My fondest memory is the smell of the popcorn that fills the front space. It is so distinct and the melted butter and grease on my fingers rubbed on my movie ticket is nostalgic. I love the indie vibe of the workers. It was a polite Seattle cool, depending on the era a little emo and punk, with some grunge. The attitude was very U District. I hope this theatre can raise the funds to fix itself up. It is one of my favorites and I hope it doesn't get boarded up. It still has so much life left.

At this point it felt like it's mostly dependent on personal preference so I decided to go in and find out. I thought the place is decent. The biggest attraction is that tickets are probably the cheapest in the area. Regular ticket price is around $16 for Seattle but it's $10 at Varsity (as of December 2023). And you get a dollar off if you're a student. Also you don't even have to buy the student tickets in person because you could just order them online (other places like AMC downtown, you have to go in person). I made sure to bring my student ID in case if they want to check, but it was never checked onsite. I think it's a little more shabby than AMC and other more commercial theaters, but it does its job. The movie started on time and there were no issue throughout the movie. I wish they could just shut off the ads before the screen turns on at starting time because you're facing a blue screen that shows nothing while the ad is blasting. On the other hand, I liked that there aren't that many previews to watch through to get to the actual movie I came to see. The bathroom is two flights up the stairs from the ground floor. It's well kept and smells ok, but they probably have to check the toilet paper inventory more often. By the time I went in, there were no toilet paper left at all so I didn't forget to inform the staff that before leaving. The staff was polite and accepted my remarks in good spirit.
