This is a tough store to review. Absolutely horrible location placement? Check. Terrible parking? Check. An acoustic guitar room overflowing with Martins, Taylor's and janky used guitars not fit for kindling? Check check and check! However in the midst of this dumpster fire I did find that one special guitar I was looking for, with incredible action, at a decent price. So yay for me, but this just won't be my go to Guitar Store ... ever. read more

I came in needing equipment for a work event with limited knowledge of sound systems. Cole was able to help me find exactly what I needed, answer all my questions, and I spent less than I expected to because of his cost saving recommendations. He even helped me carry the equipment out to my car in the rain after purchase. A little over a year ago, I came here and left all excited with a new bass and then started learning to play bass! I got most of the other things I needed here, thanks to a generous gift card from my coworkers. Staff were sparse but kind and helpful and guided me as a music noob to help me pick my bass according to my needs and interests. When I called them to tell them the specific amp I wanted, they held aside the last remaining one in stock for me until I came in to pick it up. The main downside to GC is a lot of their instruments have really high string action making them harder to play (for me anyway) and will need a proper setup. Of course I had no idea about this in the beginning, but I had to have one done on my bass. The woman who set mine up was also very kind, answered all my questions, and most importantly made it much more playable. read more

I came here years ago to look at guitars and purchase an amp. It might've been on a weekend and the place was busy but staff was attentive and helpful. I think I was helped by a couple different people who were pretty professional. I was happy with the service and my purchase. I came back around recently to take a look at some acoustic guitars. This place is looking a bit run down these days. It's still your classic guitar center with different sections with large selections of guitars, basses, amps, drums and a room you can try the drums out in. Anyway, I came in around 5pm and it was quiet in there. The staff seemed sparse and in their own worlds, maybe working on orders or something. Regardless, not the lively and receptive atmosphere from last time, but maybe it's because it was a weekday. There was a separate acoustic room, so of course I checked that out. There was a decent selection, although some of the guitars I would've liked to try were locked. There was a guy in there playing classical music so loudly and non-stop. It seemed he had been playing before I got in there and played for the half hour I was there, and was still there when I left. I was trying to understand if he worked there because he asked me about what I was looking for and occasionally would go through random guitars and pluck a string or two. I actually don't think he worked there, but I'm not sure. Anyway, it's great there are so many I can try, and as far as I can tell from the beginning of research, everything is fairly priced, but I could barely hear myself play. Then I accidentally set off an alarm on a guitar trying to get it down because the alarm tag was stuck on the guitar holder, but nobody came in to turn it off (which means it's highly unlikely the other guy worked there). I guess I could have alerted someone, but like I said, I wasn't really sure where everyone was at or what they were doing. I wouldn't tell anyone not to come here, they have a huge selection, and parking is fairly easy but perhaps you'll have different experiences on different days. read more

Went here for the first time last night and explained to Jonathon what I was looking to do. He said my needs were so simple that he suggested starting with equipment that I already have as it is very good, and once it's actually time to upgrade to come back, but advised not to spend money I don't need to. Spoke w/ store manager Tyler today. Claimed there was "miscommunication" regarding refund. Not sure how miscommunication occurred. Last Tuesday's conversation: "I'd like a refund since your instructor pulled a no show." Then the employee responds, "Ok, we will take care of it. My manager Tyler is on the phone and he said he'll take care of it." One week later, no refund and when I called back, they claim Guitar Center is unable to process refunds. They have zero ability to process a refund for services- or lack thereof. HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND. Avoid this place at all costs. Tyler was very nonchalant and aloof. I went there this afternoon as I noticed on their website that they have options for turntables and speakers. When I walked in, there were a few customers in the store and I was promptly greeted. Even though they didn't have turntables in stock, Caitlyn brought me over to their selection of speakers and went through several they had so that I could hear the quality with my music. I never felt rushed and plan on going back to pick up the speakers for my birthday gift. read more

Service is terrible here. If you order something online they will wait for days to prepare your order for pick up. I called in a few times and was told it hadn't been picked yet? When I came in to pick it up there were about 5 employees at the registers talking and laughing. The man who checked me out was less than excited to help me. All around not great. I had some work done on my les paul through this guitar center last year. It was a set up + repairing a loose strap button. The set up was okay but the screw holding the strap button ripped out and the guitar fell during a live performance today. Could have happened to anybody I guess but if it's important work on your guitar I would trust somebody else. Personally I'm never letting guitar center work on any of my guitars again read more

I usually don't like to shop at big namebrand stores but this location is great, The staff is really helpful and knowledgeable, I came in there as a guitar and audio noob but Ryan was super helpful of guiding me to purchase the right equipment. I came home with the equipment I had A bit of a tough time getting it all to work, I came back in the store with the equipment and Ryan was more than willing to explain everything to me and find a solution and now everything is working great!!!! read more

I went to guitar center first when I was a teenager with my best friend we used to live in suquamish do we took the bus and ferry boat and walked to the one that used to be in south lake Union I bought an Ibanez black guitar and a Marshall amp fast forward 20+ years I recently bought myself a ESP ltd deluxe and I went to guitar center up on Roosevelt to get some things I needed for my guitar. Well I went in with close to no knowledge at all of what I really needed. Shopping for my Rock Star of a brother I asked for help, hoping for strings & anything else that could be useful. Little brother has like eight guitars most electric and a couple acoustic. I'd explained my situation, and had the most help I've come across in a long time. We walked over to the string area where I was asked what was usually played, rock & roll, & in a band, we grabbed up a few sets of electric strings, & a couple acoustic sets. Thinking of add ons I'd asked what else might be nice to receive, I was turned on to some nice amp cords, got a nice flashy one! It's a guitar center. But this store has amazing stock, its clean and brightly lit and is, I suspect, what guitar center would like all it's stores to be. Sales staff are great. I mentioned I wanted to play a guitar that was endowed with the gift of chug. "No Gibson products, please". I played a mid price Korean Schecter with EMGs in green - very nice guitar but active (I loved the overall chuggability of the design but realized I will keep leaving it plugged in and kill the batteries all the time) - and a Charvel DK24 HH 2PT CM with super hot, but passive, Seymour Duncans. Really liked the Charvel. Played some other stuff. Salesperson answered questions accurately and was pretty up on the products I was trying. His answers tallied with some pre trip web research. GC gets a bad rap sometimes (and sometimes that's pretty unfair, even in more run down stores the staff are usually trying hard to be helpful) if all stores were like this store then I think they would be better thought of. They are cool about letting you play anything. The product I opted for did not come with a bag so the salesperson boxed it up for me for the trip home. I appreciated that. I liked that the store is super clean, bright, well stocked. Sales people are attentive, informed about the products and helpful. Great selection of books and music. There were some less frequently seen books including Steve Vai's "Vaideoligy" music theory book, and some Alfred German Schauss books I had not seen in my usual GC. Music books are tough because they get thumbed through in lower traffic stores. The books I ended up choosing were immaculate. This is one of the best GC locations I have been to. read more

Today I went in to Guitar center ready to purchase a keyboard. I found a Casio CDP-S350 for $499.00 ((listed at this price in the store)). The salesman told me that I would receive an additional 15% off anything priced $79 and higher because they have a promotion happening until 1/18/2020. I think to myself "Great!" When I got to the counter, the price came up at $549.00 and I mentioned it to the worker. He said "this is the price it's coming up at, let's check online." And it says $549.00 online. He said well, the good news is with the percentage off we can get it to you for $465.00 I told him that's not a good deal because it literally states on the price tag $499.00 and I should receive an additional 15% off the price listed in the store. He tells me that unfortunately, he can't do anything about that... So, if you do the math.... $499.00 with 15% discount is $424.15 They wanted to charge me $465.00 That's a difference of $40.85 Now factor in that I was buying the two protection plan at $89.00 A keyboard stand at $35.00 A Sustain pedal at $30.00 I would have spent $578.15 (not with tax) But, they lost a costumer because they didn't want to honor the price in store with a 15% discount. So, they lost $578.15 because they didn't want to lose $40.85 because of THEIR OWN ERROR. Wouldn't they still be up about $537.30??? And to top it off, I'm a music teacher that could have sent more business that way. So, do I recommend going there? No. No, I do not because they are not about customer service or owning up to what they advertise in the store to potential buyers. read more

Good selection but Terrible knowledge amongst the staff and terrible customer service. They try to sell you extended warranties on everything, even $20 accessories, but they just refused to honor a warranty on a product that comes with a factory lifetime warranty. I've been looking for a bass that upgraded from my broken neck bass with a brand name of only numbers and a picture of an eagle on it. I had been looking for a good used price for a sterling SUB stingray for an upgrade. I looked up multiple videos on sound vs jazz bass and stingray because those were the two basses I wanted to try. The jazz bass is twice the amount of the stingray so I was hoping I'd like the sound of the bass when I got it. I couldn't find a good used price online and they had some in stock at the local guitar center so I called just to make sure. This dude Josh picks up the phone says he has the one exactly in the color I wanted hanging on the shelf and I can come in to try it out! I came to the store and they have a very strict line outside the store with long stickers marking the 6ft for social distancing through COVID. They were pretty militant about how many people were in the store and I was fourth in line and waited a decent amount of time. But I don't mind that and hell I actually respect it. It's interesting but also a relief guitar center of all places is being overly cautious about COVID. I digress... I was let into the store and this guy says from the bottom of the stairs "HEY Stingray guy?!?!" This dude must be Josh. He lead me over to the bass and hooked up the amp and let me try it out and we talked bass for a half a second. Right when I played it and heard the sound of it I was pretty much in love with this bass. I've played fender basses in the past that I thought I'd love and end up getting but this stingray was the best feeling one I've ever played no joke! The sound was absolutely beautiful. I'm surprised how many useful tones you can get from this 300 dollar workhorse! Josh came back and we chewed the fat a little more about bass and he tweaked a lot of knobs on the amp and had me play and showed me some useful EQ tweaks that can get some really classic sounds. I wanted to get the bass in a rosewood neck but I guess when this instrument clicked so heavily for me I didn't want to risk trying a new bass of the same model to have it feel less great. I bought the bass and headed out and tried to find Josh to thank him but couldn't find him. All and all a great experience at guitar center which any guitar dork nowadays will tell you is a very rare thing. I'm glad they have someone like Josh working there because you need people passionate about the department they're in. I hope he's being compensated greatly for working through these strange times but I doubt it. read more

Called in for a product check on microphones and ended up with a full service demonstration of setting up a home recording studio. Caitlyn was the employee on the phone with me and she gave me a list of all my options with the pros, cons, and use cases of each microphone. When I went to the store to pick it up later that day, she even helped me get all of the other equipment i needed (which i didn't even know I needed), again showing me each product and helping me make an informed decisions on products that would work for me and my budget. 10/10 to Caitlyn, she was so awesome, so helpful, so smart, and so kind. Absolutely wonderful guitar center experience I would sign up for guitar center adult daycare to hang out with Caitlyn and learn everything in the guitar center employee brains if it were an option, which it will never be, but what if! read more

I usually support my local shop and have been for over 25 years but they were out of something really minor that I needed for a drum kit and so I gave GC a call to see if they had the part. The guy on the phone was knowledgeable and very friendly and indeed they did have it. He held the item for me and was very friendly when I went in to pick it up and we chatted for a while about a drummer we had a common interest in. Today around 415 pm I went to the Roosevelt/Seattle Guitar center to play a few 12 string guitars, and see if they had one I'd like to purchase. You don't know if it's what you want until you play it. I didn't make it inside. The 'doorman' was really rude, of course passively aggressively so- in a "politely toned voice" he asked me why I was there today, & kept saying this spiel about keeping me safe, referring to covid-19. Apparently he was 'emphasizing' to me, he literally said they weren't letting people in to 'hangout to play guitar' - I told him I was there to play a few guitars & possibly purchase one. He said they had 'limited space' inside, & started his 'spiel' again. I asked him if he was judging me, that he was implying I wasn't there to purchase, he said he wasn't judging me. But he definitely was. I repeated I was there to see if there was a guitar I wanted to buy, but I wanted to play them before I purchase one. I asked him if I could talk to his manager. He said his manager was at lunch, I asked when he'd be back. He said in 20 minutes. I said I might want to talk to the manager. He started to repeat the 'spiel'. It sucks for a salesman to speak down to you 'politely'.(?).. I said you don't need to be a dick. I repeated I was there to check out a few guitars. He repeated his 'spiel'. I said if you'd move out of the way I would go in. I asked if he was going to let me in. He said he would, yet didn't move to let me through. & yes, he started his 'spiel' again. I had it. I said I don't want to go in. I said this sucks, I won't be buying anything from here. I went to leave, as I got in my car the guy kept staring @ me. I gave him the bird & left. I didn't see any reason to waste any of my time to talk to the manager, as the manager probably put the workers up to being rude to people they think are there to "hangout and play guitars". I wasn't there to waste my time or get anyone fired. A friend told me to at least write a review here, because customers/people don't need to be treated like that. I was treated with no respect by the salesman (?). I gave a little of the disrespect back. Some people have bad days, some people are not cool. I was having a good day. Up til then.. I don't know if that guy was having a good or bad day, he was definitely not cool... Man, that was a very crappy experience. I went directly to a Guitar Center in Lynnwood, Wa. They were awesome. I was treated with respect, like the Roosevelt store 'doorman' SHOULD have been to me. I played a few guitars, and figured the guitar store I went to last week had the best sounding guitar. I told the salesman about playing a Guild 12 string at another store. He said sounds like that's the guitar you may want- as the 2 they had were very obviously sub par for tone and resonance. I went back to the store I usually go to- (IT WASN'T @ GUITAR CENTER-) & bought an awesome GUILD 12 string for the same price of a 12 string @ Guitar Center. If you want to support a store whose sales people treat people with respect, don't go to Roosevelt Guitar Center. They are not cool to the customers. I won't go anywhere where the SALES PEOPLE don't treat CUSTOMERS how they want to be treated- WITH RESPECT. Hey Roosevelt Seattle Guitar Center 'doorman'- LIGHTEN UP. I definitely recommend the Lynnwood Wa store, for customer service: " 5 stars ".... I rate "0 stars" for the Roosevelt / Seattle store. I purchased a Martin D28 from Guitar Center on Westlake in the early 90's, a very smooth sale and I enjoyed it for many years until it was stolen 5 years ago. I recently replaced the D28 with the Modern series from GC on Roosevelt, my salesman was Mo who was very helpful in helping me locate a new guitar and sending it to me. I have purchased other items from the Roosevelt store and every transaction went swimmingly. I've called GC on Roosevelt and have been treated as a valued customer, all the staff are exemplary.
