I took my kids there a few weekends ago and writing based on their feedback. Location: it's pretty far back in the hills, so be patient. Once you see the first sign, pass it and at the next sign turn in where there's an open fence (driveway looks like an abandoned area). Stay to the left and continue on the narrow road and you'll see the parking lot and field. Tip: Be sure to pack a big cooler of ice, water, bottles, and snacks in your trunk. I packed one veggie and one slime and crackers party tray along with a couple bags of chips, Gatorade's, grapes,berries, hand sanitizer and a roll of paper towels. Everyone in the group enjoyed the goodies. The outdoor venue is spacious, and they have wooden picnic tables under covered awnings where you can park your car right next to. Service: they have everything you need -masks, pellets/paintballs, and guns, and you can rent, and you can play all day until they close. The only negative remarks based on my group's feedback is that some people played unfairly and didn't call their shots when they got hit and continued to play. In addition the referee, Gavin, although he was super nice and cool, he let a lot of things slide so the people in my group got upset about that. The smell in other people's review is true- it is STRONG and hard to get away from if you are trying to watch people. Not sure what is but I could only take so much - and since my step daughter and I didn't play, we ended up going to the Janns Mall and watched a movie while the rest of the group played. Btw- they have port-a potties right next to where you enter and exit the playing fields. For those reasons, I'm giving 3 stars. Overall, it's nice to have something different nearby that's outdoors for the kids, teens and adults. read more

Went here with my girlfriend and cousin. Rude refs and the community there was very toxic. Refs did nothing to stop this behavior. Had a regular player bunker a completely new player and kept overshooting maybe 10 more time because the rental player did not see he got shot in the hopper. Ruins experience for new players. Refs just let it happen. Will be giving my money to HWS. Amazing refs and amazing people there. When I was at HWS refs watched the game, even saw some rental player were getting wrapped and warned regulars to only shoot once or surrender them so they would get hurt or scared to play again. That's how this community should be. Not a bunch of loser old players being overly aggressive and refs that are rude and don't care about players experience. Got 2 stars because they let you bring your own paint. Otherwise not coming back. read more

Love how close it is to moorpark/TO/simi. A good place for new airsoft players, they keep safety in mind. $30 9-4 airsoft on Sundays when you bring your own equipment. Shade in the parking lot over the picnic tables. You rotate scenes with paintballers so it keeps it interesting! Porta potties. read more

I wish this place would put in a little more effort. This is my local field. I've come here for over a decade now, and not a thing about it has changed. And it's really due for some change... I've brought tons of friends and families here to experience airsoft over the years, and each time I'm reminded not only of how boring these field layouts are, but also how lazy and sassy the employees here can be. The attitude they give on every interaction is just exhausting. They will also fuss and fight to stick to the fields that are closer to the entrance just to avoid walking to the further fields. The field I enjoy the most is the one with the conex boxes since it allows for so much variation. Flanks, objective based games, snipers, shotguns, both fast and slow gameplay with plenty of cover. "Spools", "Junkyard", "Toon town" or whatever it's called, the far one with the plane, they all need an adjustment. None of them have a good flow in gameplay. We need more cover and it needs to have some thought put into it. Plus, some variation in terrain would be so much fun, it really changes things and this park doesn't have any of that... except that one field on the far northmost side of the property that the refs just refuse to take the walk-ons to. The porta-pottys being placed right in between the sign in, chrono, fill-up station, and the field entry is just so stupid. You want to park next to the field entrance/check-in so you can hear the refs call for games? Well, get ready to sit in the smell of people's feces all day. Park on the other side of the check-in? You get to listen to the extremely loud generator for the day. This field honestly just disrespects its own customers over and over, but the private parties and paintball communities with low standards that keep them moving, don't motivate them to try hard enough to change anything. And the local tweak, Gabe, who somehow manages to flip out on someone at least once every time I'm there. How is this dude still around? I heard not too long ago they were looking to host a mud run? I don't think any of your active patrons, that have been supporting this place for years, care about a mud run. So how about you take care of them and invest a little bit more time and thought into these fields to make gameplay more entertaining for them, your local players. The ones that pay $30 minimum per weekend to play here. This place has so much potential. Pleasee, change it up! read more

Before going to Ambush, I've only been to SC Village for my paintball meetups. SC Village is nice but it's always crowded and the walks to the maps can get a bit long. Going to Ambush Village was a change of pace and I liked it. It's not as crowded as SC village and there's nothing extra besides the maps. They don't have a "shop" and they don't have food trucks. Their restroom is one porta-potty. All that didn't matter because there was a lot of space for cars and they have benches available to you. The ref we had was nice and we didn't have to wait for any games to pop up. If you're just looking to get up and go play some paintballs without waiting, this is the place for you. I suggest stocking up on food and supplies before heading out to Ambush. read more

If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would. Booked a private party for the gym I'm with and brought 20+ first timers to start shooting at each other mindlessly. Let me tell you: THEY WANT MORE. Everything was extremely easy to set up from the reservations to the service at the park, even so much ans waiting with us to finish up packing and heading out. Never once did anyone in the group feel like they weren't having an amazing time. I have played at ambush a handful of times... every time playing at the park with "walk-ons" we had the overweight short ref with the bad teeth. The field does give you good air pressure to top off your tanks and allows you to bring your paint. The parking area does have some shade as well. Once walking to the fields the ref would talk down to people having issues trying to chronograph their markers. Why does this guy have to be a prick and talk down to little kids and women‍. From there the heavy-set ref would not check any of his buddy's markers to see how fast they are shooting... we then walk to the field of his choice to play at. Where he then picks a large portion of his usual players/friends to go against the people with rental guns.. none of his buddies have to play in single-shot mode. They are all using ramping modes and are shooting hot. This place is a joke!! Go to combat or Hollywood sports park. This place hires clowns and expects people to be happy at the end of the day when you see others covered in bruises and welts... Wonder if their insurance company is okay with people drinking and smoking dope in the parking lot while playing read more

THIS place is so good the only thing is when they were cleaning my mask I tried taking it off but got yelled at one thing to remember is to make a reservation because they barely have any air soft guns for walk ins another thing to remember is that you get three strikes if you get all three your out of here they temporarily ban you for the whole day. read more

Smoking cigarettes. smoking weed. cussing. spitting everywhere. there's women and children present. luckily i was there to talk say something. i dont understand the need to cuss when trying to make a point. one can convey the message without the use of vulgarity. 12 years in the army and proper upbringing trained me to know that there is a time and place. Civility is appreciated. the owner needs to address that there is no smoking around the shelters and designate an area. same thing with marijuana and proper manners. read more

I enjoyed the arenas a lot. They are organized with getting walk-on people to play. Also, they try to keep it even by skill level which I thought was nice. They don't let you choose what fields you want to play on. The referees yell at you instead of speak to you in a calm, respectable tone. Even though I paid for full rental equipment, the manager wouldn't let me use the barrel plug to put on my gun. Even though I wanted to put the rental gun in the truck while I used mine. The manager threatened to kick me out when I said I was going to be posting about this encounter on Yelp. When I asked for a refill on my gun, he made passive aggressive comments about me being "his favorite Yelp reviewer". Totally unprofessional and uncalled for. read more

The entire staff is always friendly and welcoming, and are incredibly helpful to those in our group that use rentals. Our red this time was John, and he was superb to say the least. I came for the first time as a walk-on player. The park was pretty busy. It is a bit intimidating if you're renting gear; paintball marker, mask, and strap on vest. They did bundle all walk-on players together whether you have your own gear or renting. The refs are great. They're funny and interact with players that play at this park often. If you DONT want to get yelled at literally, follow the rules, and the refs won't yell or raise their voice at you. Overall, this is a great park to come if you want to play paintball and meet cool people. A plus is the owner brings his dog, and the dog is absolutely adorable (10/10 I wanna pet the dog) read more

First time here at Ambush. I've visited other paintball parks before and this was a really cool experience. I got a deal on living social 20$ for all 6 players & each individual player pays 25$ (instead of 40$) the deal includes equipment rental: face mask, gun, chest protector, Safety Orientation, & ALL DAY field play, the 25$ include 500 paintballs, and air refills. and you can choose from various locations I've been to both of the paintball USA locations. Most paintball arenas have similar fields. Clothing - I recommend comfortable/ running shoes some of the regulars wear cleats, long sleeve shirt/ sweater, pants, bringing your own mask is probably a good idea if you play often. So, there's an open lot & picnic bench tables in front of each Parking area which is convenient I recommend taking a table cloth for healthy power snacks and water. They do sell water and papa johns pizza which you may also preorder! Online you also make reservations online. Take extra ammo! The low down; there's 5 fields: Spool field - watch your feet!& the wholes on the center of the spool. Town: guard your target. Plenty of cover. Junkyard: probably the most exiting aside from the Arena (speed ball). Arena: Survival of the fittest. Hay : didn't get the chance to experience. The staff are all so helpful with a great sense of humor! The referees are cool as well if you shoot someone and they don't get out they have your back. Also if you're in the field and your mask is loose they got you. OVERALL FABULOUS EXPERIENCE. The regulars are friendly as well. We will be returning. read more

So my son got Invited to go to Ambush Paintball Park-with his fellow basketball team and other friends. I had never been there before but it turned out It was not that far away from us. The Paintball Park is in Ventura, down some long and winding roads but the scenery to dry there is nice. Upon arrival, we saw the big sign and wove down another winding road that does have some big pot holes so be aware if you are in a low car. Eventually the road ends and you arrive at Ambush Paintball. Surrounded by many picnic tables and "marked off tables " that are probably reserved ahead of your arrival. I Waited outside my car -and waited to see if everything was ok with my sons waiver and paperwork. So parents-make sure they are good before you leave! After about 10 minutes he gave my the signal-he Was checked in and quickly disappeared from sight. It is a large maze of battlegrounds as you would expect, and they said they all had a great time during the game and after. I would say it's a good place, but of course-I have not been in the game! They had a great time and that's all That matters so if you are looking for a local paintball spot...this is your place. Go try it out and have fun! read more
