The good: waitress was super kind! It wasn't busy so we were seated quickly. The she crab soup, gnocchi carbonara & Brussel sprouts were all delicious! Where it falls flat: the calamari was over cooked and pretty greasy. The filet was flavorless. I felt like the Demi-glacé was overpowering and gave the supposed to be elevated dish -- pot roast vibes. To finish the night we shared the chocolate cake. The menu states a 'double chocolate gnash cake'. I assumed they meant ganache but this cake was anything from rich. It was like eating pudding cake. The espresso martini was all martini and no espresso. We came for our anniversary dinner and were disappointed, especially for the cost of it all.

First time coming here and babe and i decided to for the Valentine's Day!! The food was simple amazing. Like if you come here you have to try the jumbo fried shrimp and the fried oysters soo yummy. Our service was good we kept getting checked on frequently. The ambience of the place was set up soo cute and all for the love day!! Will be our new go to spot for sure. Omg how could i forget the mussels, they were absolutely amazing!!!!

This place is definitely tucked back off the road but it's worth it. Excellent food and great service we can't wait to go back! Update to 2/14/26 on their website on 2/13/26 it clearly stated they were not accepting reservations for the 14th. When I show up on the 14th they ask if we had reservations... WTF? Guess we will find another place for dinner...

My husband and I went to Amber Lantern for our wedding anniversary and it did not disappoint! We'd heard so many good things about this place and were so excited to finally try it for our special night. We started with the baked brie and wow! The puff pastry was so light and flaky, the cheese was perfectly melted, and the fig sauce on top gave it the perfect touch of sweetness. For our entrées, my husband had the rack of lamb with mashed potatoes and asparagus, and I went with the scallops over mushroom risotto and spinach. I LOVE scallops and these were cooked and seasoned absolutely perfectly. My husband was just as satisfied with his lamb. We wrapped up our dinner with the lava cake and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Another total hit. All in all, we couldn't have asked for a better anniversary dinner. Highly recommend!

Please beware! If you go to this restaurant and do not like a meal, you will be charged 50% of the price for returning it and ordering a new meal per the owners policy. I am not a picky eater by any means and love trying new meals at new restaurants. However, I took one bite of the mahi mahi entree, spit it out in a napkin and sent it back as I refuse to spend $30+ on a meal I cannot enjoy. I am unsure if it was the risotto or mango sauce that tasted sour. I'm unsure if it is supposed to taste like that or not as this was my first time eating there. This is an absurd policy. They lost out on money as we had no problem paying for an entire new meal that I could enjoy and we would have both gotten dessert as we were celebrating a special occasion. Of course, a tip would have been included too. Thank you for ruining our anniversary. I will not be returning and will not be recommending this restaurant to anyone.

First let me say the staff were nice, the drinks were strong and the food was good. The place needs a little sprucing up,it has a good view of the water and the sunset was nice but the interior lacked any character it was very plain.

The Amber Lantern is a cozy restaurant on the water in the Chesapeake area. It was the perfect spot to celebrate with friends and family for a special occasion. While it's definitely in the most unassuming spot: off the highway and by what appears is a lot of construction. Once you get there, you'll find a peaceful, refined restaurant that's nice but not overly pretentious or fussy. The menu is a mix of seafood, American, and pasta dishes. So there's a good mix for pretty much everyone! Don't sleep on the warm bread. It's excellent. They also have delicious drinks and cocktails if you're looking for a fun libation. I really enjoyed my pasta. It was rich and tasty. The serving size was generous, so I definitely didn't leave hungry. The service was so friendly and accommodating. While this place is not an everyday staple. It's definitely a nice once in a while treat if you're looking for something nicer.

The food was delicious! I had scallops with mashed potatoes and my husband had the rack of lamb. The waitress was absolutely phenomenal and accommodated our anniversary dinner with care. The ambiance is always great and we enjoyed the South dining side of the restaurant with a nice view of the bar areas and games. Great experience as always!

The customer service is great. Staff is very friendly and professional. The food is amazing here. The food was played well and the temperature of the food was amazing. I would definitely come back here again. Me and my boyfriend came here for anniversary dinner. This place did not disappoint.

Definitely a " hidden" gem! I thought I was lost for a moment, but just around the corner you see a 3 story building and at the top is the restaurant. Thank goodness they had an elevator! As we entered it was nice intimate setting. We were seated at a booth which was nice. I wanted to try everything, but opt for the sea scallop appetizer, fried oysters and crab bisque. Omg...let me tell you all of the appetizers were sipped, dipped and plate clean! Lol! Also they did provide "Bread & Butter" for free.. Most places now do not offer or charge you for it. Okay, so for the main course I ordered the Filet Mignon with garlic mash and steamed mix veggies. The steak just melted in my mouth juicy and tender. The steamed veggies and mash just complimented the dish even more. If that all wasn't enough. I couldn't resist and ordered the key lime pie. Delicious! I'm telling you this restaurant is a definite place to experience! Will definitely come back.

This was my 2nd visit to Amber Lantern. It seems like my 2nd visit to certain places is never as good as the 1st. Unfortunately this is the case for Amber Lantern. I'll start with the waitress Kayla. She was very nice and conversational but she failed to clear our table of empty dishes and empty bread baskets until the very end. She also didn't seem to be very knowledgeable about the food. I got the lobster bisque soup. The good points are very tasty AND huge pieces of lobster that you can see and taste and the lobster wasn't overcooked. Not so good point is it was over seasoned. You could taste the old bay and that's fine in my opinion the mis step was putting more old bay on top when they served the soup. It was just too much salt. For my main dish I got the salmon. It was cooked to perfection. You have the option to get mashed potatoes or risotto. I chose mashed potatoes and asked for parmesean cheese on top. The potatoes were also very tasty. In my opinion the mis step with this dish was the sauce. It was served with a raspberry type sauce. The color and flavor were off putting. It resembled pepto bismol and it did not complete or enhance the taste of the salmon. My date got the crab stuffed shrimp. The buttery lemon sauce that comes with that would have been much better with the salmon. Just my opinion... the mixed veggies were the best. Seasoned to perfection. The atmosphere in the restaurant was great but the personal conversations and laughing coming from the wait staff was a little distracting. Not sure if I'd be willing to go back?? Considering the price point and my current experience.

First time here and it's been on my list but due to the location and distance I've been putting it off for years. The location is so odd to say the least, desolate industrial small marina type location. Started with seared ahi tuna, which came with seaweed salad. For dinner we both had the rack of lamb. The lamb was flavored perfectly and cooked well. Will definitely be back as we enjoyed the food.

Our server Whitney was great. We wanted to order the whipped bone marrow appetizer but it was sold out and they were going to rotate it off of the next seasonal menu. So we ordered the Crab Dip, whic came ith some toasted crostini. It had an amble amout of crabmeat with a hint of dill and a little heat. We got some rosemary dinner rolls with whipped butter to start. They were nice and fluffy and light. The Brussel sprouts were sweet and crunchy with the bacon onion jam, not bitter at all. I enjoy the lamb chops, which were not at all gamey and seasoned just right. The collard greens paired nicely (not to vinegary), with the smoked gouda grits. My husband ordered the KC Strip per Whitney's recommendation. He enjoyed the smoked flavor complemented by the garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. He was afraid it was going to be too lean but the marbling was great. For dessert we ordered the bacon brownie chocolate chip cookies. There were 2 with chocolate fudge drizzle served with Gelato. The cookies were warm, salty and decadent sweet. We also received complementary champagne to toast our anniversary. It was a great night.

So booking a reservation for mother's day brunch was a no brainer for me and I was super excited. Upon arrival I was seated immediately. The service Kyle came over almost immediately and explained the mimosas. We received water and our drinks and then it was all downhill from there. We proceeded to sit and wait for 40 very long minutes for our food. This was supposed to be an "all you can eat" toppas type of situation. It made me wonder was this done by design to control the amount of food that was being served??? Idk? I will say that as I looked around this was happening to everyone not just my table. As previously mentioned I've been to this restaurant several times because the food is Always delicious and the service was 5 stars. The food was not good this time. We tried steak and eggs, Deviled eggs, French toast, chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, crab cake with Hollandaise sauce and yogurt ,with berries and granola. The server didn't ask what temperature we wanted our steak. My steak was medium well and the other steak was rare. We weren't told it was over easy eggs. 1 of us would have preferred scrambled. The only thing I loved was the shrimp and grits and the yogurt and berries. I will also add that $50 was taken off the bill and they comped my drinks. This was greatly appreciated. Had this gesture been accompanied with a pleasant attitude it would have been greatly appreciated.

Just for your awareness, there's a dresscode here, and rightly so, it's definitely an upscale restaurant. We sat at a hi-top in the bar area, which is a nice, cellar-looking area in the lower level of the restaurant. Our server was excellent! She explained that she's one of the sommeliers there and provided some pretty good feedback on their wine selection. Their menu is fairly typical of upper-end, prime steakhouses. There were many appetizing items to choose from, I had a tough time deciding. I was leaning towards their fried shrimp entrée, especially after seeing other people's pictures of it on social media. I would never normally get this, but their shrimp pics looked amazing. I started with their Greek salad - This was a HUGE salad, big enough for an entrée, especially if you add a protein to it. It was fabulous! Lots of fresh veggies in it, the dressing was excellent, and the flavors were so very good! This is definitely worthy of splitting, which I'll do next time I return. Next up was my entrée and I chose their smaller filet with an add-on of fried shrimp. I really wanted to try this shrimp and this was a way that I could try their beef and the shrimp and this was an absolutely AMAZING entrée selection!! The shrimp were HUGE! They were perfectly and beautifully battered and fried and looked stunning! The steak was spot-on! I ordered medium rare plus and if I had to guess from looking at it, it was probably 134-135 degrees! The flavor was great too! Their steak is definitely worthy of eating without any add-on or sauce. For sides we tried their Mashed Potatoes and their Haricot Verts and both were outstanding! The nice thing about this place is they actually list half portions of sides in their menu! Many places offer it, but you have to ask and if it's just two people dining, half portions are the perfect size. Save room for dessert, they offer many options! In my case, I was so full, I simply opted for a scoop of their blood orange sorbet and it was the best finish for a great dinner. Definitely will return and would recommend Byrd & Baldwin Bros for a nice evening and great dinner experience!

This place was PACKED! It was very loud inside and you practically had to scream to be heard. Lots of stereotypically texan-styled decor and music. Service wasn't bad. My table was a little wobbly and squeaky. The food was actually really good. The ribs were pretty tender and easy to eat. The steak was cooked as I requested and was good as well. I always heard about the famous "TXRH Rolls!" and was curious to see if they lived up to the hype and I have to admit... they did! Soft and sweet, with a maple butter spread if you want it. Drink sizes are decent as I only had one refill and considering the amount of meat, potatoes, and bread I had to eat?, It was pretty satisfactory. It may not have seemed like it at first, but it was really quite filling as by the time I had finished, my usually over-sized appetite was satiated as I was actually too full for dessert.. a scenario no one would believe. Prices were pretty high, but not too different from other similar chains. And let's be honest: EVERYTHING these days is expensive! Sad but true. My favorite things were the rolls (they actually are that good!), the onions that smothered my steak (just the way I like them and there were plenty to enjoy!) and.. the Tropical Breeze Mocktail! I love a good blue drink and being a teetotaler, it was much appreciated to see non-alcoholic options for the fun and colorful beverages! In my opinion, it tasted like a beautiful air freshener and I loved every drop of it! (I even ate the fruit in the glass!) Final thoughts: After 9pm is the time to go if you want to avoid large crowds and they could get comfier booths, just saying. I would return if I'm feeling like some good ol' fashioned faux-texas fare is in order!
