I really enjoyed their she-crab soup and calamari. I had a takeout order so I didn't get to fully enjoy the space, but I think I would have enjoyed dining in. The restaurant looked cute and the view seemed great. I also enjoyed chatting with the employees (one might have been an owner?) for a couple minutes. The main reason I had probably twenty incomplete orders is because of the additional charges for things in the DoorDash app. Want the marinara dip? That'll be 77 cents. Want a side (fries, coleslaw, rice, etc) with your chosen entree? That'll be an additional $6.40 or more. Sometimes the base price was low so the additional costs technically made sense, but if it's a meal which would be odd without sides I prefer seeing just one total price which includes everything (and maybe an up-charge for a "premium" side or a price reduction for no sides). read more

Popped in the other day for lunch with a friend. The view was beautiful, service was great but I have to admit the meal was a bit disappointing. There were so many pictures of the fried pickles on yelp thought they would be the best. The pickles looked so delicious. The issue for me was that as soon as you take a bite the bread g falls right off. I had the tuna tacos, they were as to be expected. Next time I'll try something else read more

Another great visit and Saturday meal @ 4PM with my wife. Our outstanding server was also the owner. As always the string bean, French fries and fried pickle spears were terrific and our blackened swordfish, done to perfection. This time I also went with a Cesar salad. It was good. Whenever we are in town we always try to make this a stop and despite the day's temperature, it was quite comfortable sitting on the deck. read more

Best Swordfish steak I've ever eaten in a Tidewater Restaurant. Only issue is road construction near by. Call for fish if the day. Won't be disappointed. Cheers!! read more

I love the service here. I go and hang out, have a few drinks, read a book. Everyone is welcoming. Live music on Saturdays and $1 oysters on Saturdays as well. The rest of the food is just ok. Not bad, not good, just middle of the road. Often lacking flavor. It's worth to oysters and the cocktails! read more

Wow, It's been a while since we came here. It's been about a year since they've revamped the inside of this small little fish house. The food: We ordered hog wings in our favorite flavor. I had Thai chili and hubs had parm garlic. They were meaty and flavorful. Also ordered fried shrimp with a small cup of old bay. Perfectly fired and crispy. Husband ordered shrimp tacos. They were grilled to perfection. The drinks didn't disappoint either. I had this strong drink with mezcal. Made me feel like I was on a tropical island. The marina view at sunset is amazing. They also take reservations. Service was on point and I enjoyed seeing into the kitchen. read more

Its a good brunch place. They have good drinks and mimosas. Mostly would go again for the vibes and the views, the food portion is really good, its not the best food in the world but their fries really be hitting. I think if you go outside it would be really pretty when its sunset or dark out. Overall good food, vibes, and would go again maybe as a cute date place read more

I wanted a fresh seafood meal without all the fuss. Willoughby's was perfect. It's a small spot on the water with indoor/open air seating. You can pick your own table. Waitresses were cheery and friendly. I had the strawberry margarita, crab dip appetizer and fresh fish of the day meal (tuna with green beans & fries). I forgot to take pics but everything was tasty! Great food. Great prices. I'll be back. read more

I've only been to Willoughby Fish House once, but let me tell you--I need to get back. Right on the waterfront at the marina, this spot has a relaxed vibe that makes the perfect backdrop for a fun dining experience. You can even arrive by boat, with slips ready for anyone who wants to float right up for a great meal. The food? Phenomenal. I went with a group, so I got to sample quite a few dishes, and each one was just amazing. My favorite of all the dishes we tried was the fish and chips. They were possibly the best I've ever had--crispy, light batter on the outside, with fish that was tender and flavorful on the inside. Also, don't overlook the fried pickles, a great adaptation of a tough-to-get rated starter. But what really made it special was the customer service. The staff here are focused on more than just delivering great food; they're truly invested in making the entire experience memorable. From giving thoughtful recommendations to checking in regularly without being intrusive, the team made us feel genuinely welcome and went out of their way to add personal touches that made our visit stand out. Though we were there early, I can tell you from reviewing the drink/wine list and looking at the bar that they are ready to deliver! They offer craft cocktails, chilled brews, and a solid wine selection, all mixed just right to go with any meal. Willoughby Fish House has the perfect waterfront vibe, great food, and top-tier service, creating a dining experience I can't wait to return to. If you're looking for a place with a laid-back marina setting, incredible food, and a team that makes every visit special, this is the spot to check out! read more

Willoughby Fish House - Fish Sandwich with Slaw - Seafood Near Me - Norfolk, Virginia

This was my friend time here. Unfortunately my first experience was not the best when it came to the food. The waitress and workers were all very nice. I first ordered the clam chowder. Super watery, lack of flavor. My shrimp taco had cut up tomatoes but unfortunately some of the tomatoes had black on them. You know when vegetables start to decompose they get black. I picked those out and still ended up eating a few bites of the shrimp taco. Mostly because I was so hungry. Thumbs down. The brisket and pork tacos were over loaded with BBQ sauce. Tasted like I was just eating BBQ sauce. The meat was fairly dry. Although this experience wasn't great, I do intend on going back and trying something else. The location and view is beautiful. read more

I'd like to warn you, in case some you will wind up in Norfolk Virginia, where I went for my birthday, AVOID THIS PLACE for your own sake! The fist and last time I visited "Willoughby Fish House" was to celebrate my birthday. Thanks to the waiter and manager, it turned into a complete disaster, here's why: In addition to 3 soups and a drink, I ordered $25 Flounder for my friend's daughter and $85 Big Bay entry for all 4 of us. The soups and flounder were delivered within 1/2 hour and after another 40-minutes we were presented with... a check! We were shocked but the waiter said she decided that we cancelled our entry!! - Since when OK means NO?! After my wife complained to the manager, he came over saying that he is sorry and it will take another 20 minutes to prepare our order - unlike any decent establishment, it didn't even occur to him to offer complimentary drinks or hors d'ourves while we wait. Well, it took over 40 minutes and when it was finally delivered, some items of the entry were grossly over salted and, just to add insult to the injury, only 1 crab/nut cracker was given to 4 people! Needles to say, we left extremely disappointed and... hungry! As a musician, I work in restaurants/clubs etc. and always leave good tips when I go out... not this time. read more

Food was meh. Service was meh. Waitress seemed like she didn't really care. They were out of oysters, pork, brisket, and they advertised fried fish tacos but I could only get it grilled or blackened? Made no sense. Was pretty pricey. Spend $154 there on 2 kids meals and 2 entrees. Cool spot tho right by the water. Wish everything else was better. Will probably not be going back. Pretty forgettable experience. read more

We found this restaurant tucked away in a small marina with a beautiful view of the water. We had lunch on their outdoor patio on a pleasant day. You can tell this family run business cares about the food quality & it shows. Fish & Calamari were perfectly cooked! It's rare to find a place that has fresh calamari (not frozen) that's cooked perfectly & not overdone you can taste it. Service is awesome they know what they're serving & what they're doing. We had fried calamari & fried flounder sandwich. Decided to stop for a quick beer & bite. Beers are mostly local. Flounder was also fresh (not previously frozen) and it shows. Fries were also crispy and hot. Cute small local location on the pier. All family members were in there working. It's nice to see this because it's rare. If you want real good quality fresh seafood from people who know what they're doing, you have to try it! read more

Even though the food came relatively fast, first the place was empty, the prices increased, and the waitress was not familiar with the specials for the day. The restaurant was out of a number of appetizers. I was not pleased with my orange crush. The dips for the fish bites tasted just like mayonnaise, no flavor, the cocktail sauce, tasted just like tomatoes. The sauce for the pickles spears did have a kick. The waitress did not bring us water. Prices are not listed on the menu, so it may depend on the staff and time of time. The price may be different. This used to be one of my favorite places to get food, I may have to reevaluate my choices. The waitress, even though she would check to see if everything is OK, she never asked if we wanted another drink, would we like some water. I'm quite disappointed read more

They have a prime location, and a quaint restaurant. We loved the outdoor dining area. The food was great, our table had the caprese salad, she crab soup, the fried flounder, crab cakes, fried shrimp, seared scallops, and blackened chicken tacos. Everyone left dinner very full and extremely happy. The reason for the 4 stars is that the service was lacking; our waitress was beyond friendly, and those who helped her were also friendly. The issues were that once we had received our meals, the waters were no longer getting refilled, and we had to wait a while before we even saw our waitress to get our check. It was a decently busy night, being that it is Memorial Day weekend, but the restaurant was full when we were seated, and actually emptied out towards the end of our meal. We will absolutely return, the food was great, I just hope that it was an off-night service-wise. read more

this was the worst food I have ever experienced in my life the steak was overcooked the crab had no flavor some of the cooks were drunk it was overpriced the fish of the day was overcooked and had no flavor NEVER EAT HERE. good servers but one of them came up to us drinking a beer the atmosphere was good. But would not recommend restaurant price was 400 dollars for a few things. read more

My new find! I had been curious about this place for awhile, so when I wanted to meet my southside friend for dinner, we decided to try it. It is small, so I expect it will get busy in the summer. The food was great and service friendly. I was particularly thrilled with the fresh sides. When you see mixed vegetables on a menu, they usually come from a bag, but these were fresh and sauteed perfectly. I had fried shrimp and my friend had fish tacos. Both delicious! The best though is that I can get there in 20 min from Yorktown, and my Ghent friend can meet me in 20 as well. They have different specials most weeknights, so definitely check them out! read more

First try at this new gem on Willoughby Spit. Met and spoke with owner; super friendly staff and fantastic views. Beautiful, coolish day for the 757, so we sat outside. Crab dip to start along with a lager on tap and her Watermelon Crush. Good but not great. Chips were tasty, but many were stuck together and dip was a bit soupy. This was our second choice, as they were out of crab-stuffed 'shrooms. Lunch was fish tacos for means crab cake sandwich for her - both good, although there's definitely room for improvement! Overall, nice, enjoyable lunch at a new place we'll try again! read more

Decoys, the name of the restaurant in the space of the old Bennetts Creek Marina, was excellent for our luncheon group. We had a choice of inside or deck seating, the special guest as a fresh soft crab sandwich. It was excellent; a large, meaty crab cooked perfectly. The specialty appetizers was Smithfield bacon wrapped sea scallops. Delicious! Beautiful setting. And Alicia, the lovely waitress, was outstanding. I highly recommend Decoy's, off Rt 17 in Suffolk, Virginia. read more

Never have I experienced such rude, careless staff. This place is only good for drinks and appetizers. Ordered the most expensive menu item, the Willoughby Spit. Everything on it was horribly overcooked, I'm talking a layer of char on the burger, crab, and egg. Exceedingly overpriced for the lack in quality. waitress was moody and extremely rude!!!!!!! customer service does not exist here. The ground beef they used to make the burger was sitting out at room temperature for hours. That's probably why my stomach was upset a hour after leaving! Stay away!!! go to Captain Groovy's instead. At least you'll get your money's worth. OVERCOOKED FOOD, NASTY WAITRESS! Food: 1/5 | Service: 1/5 | Atmosphere: 2/5 read more

We discovered a great little neighborhood seafood place, and we fully intend to become regulars. Located right on the marina near the entrance to the HRBT, the setting is perfect for a local fish spot. The menu is very limited, but everything we had was prepared perfectly. The steamed shrimp were a good size and we done just right and served with plenty of melted butter. I had the blackened rockfish, which was deliciously seasoned, while juicy and cooked just right. My wife had the fried shrimp, which again was cooked just right and crispy with the perfectly light amount of breading. The cole slaw was also delicious, with a unique slighly spicy finish. We finished with the house-made key lime pie, which was amazing. The crust was incredibly buttery and the filling dense and delicious. It is a cozy little place, with only four tables, more on the deck when the weather allows. They also have some nice specials, we plan on coming back soon for half price steamed shrimp on Thursday nights and flounder night on Wednesdays. My only criticism is some of the wine markup is excessive (3x on some very basic bottles), but they do have some really tasty tropical drinks that are fairly priced. They also have some good bourbons in their bar. This is a great little hidden spot that's worth finding! read more

First time here....sitting here with my friend on a Tuesday evening next to 2 incredibly inebriated women at the bar. Trying to enjoy our salmon BLT and crab mac n cheese but all we can do is not enjoy their vulgar conversations. My salmon blt was missing the bacon but was otherwise delicious. The crab mac n cheese was creamy and yummy however not totally sure it had $17 worth of crab. The drinks were great and Stephanie provided awesome service! 4 stars for food.
