Have a gas fireplace ~15 years old that wouldn't light. Batteries had leaked in the electronic remote control box (should probably write a Duracell review...). Called Amazing Flame; was familiar with them from having periodic service before. Nolan D was on time, set up very efficiently, worked very methodically and was very clean. He was clearly knowledgeable and experienced. Performed a full diagnostic and a very thorough service -- important for a gas appliance. Not only brought the fireplace back into original working condition, but went to some trouble to remove battery corrosion from remote control receiver and save the cost of a new one. We had an issue with cold air coming into our gas fireplace. Once the tech evaluated the fireplace he noticed the amount of insulation that was originally recommended was not needed. Apparently, there were a few areas needing more insulation to help with blocking the draft coming through. When we asked if the cost of the service would decrease since they weren't doing the whole job, they said no. Then mentioned something about donating the extra materials to some other project in Maine. However, I will say they were honest when saying their fix will not totally fix the issue. They said it would make it better then what it was. Not sure if thats totally true! Summary, we paid $1k for a partial job and the extra materials we paid for was given to someone else. read more

Thoroughly cleaning and evaluating our system to determine the cause of our problem. Whole appointment took about an hour and everything is working great now! I'll start out by saying that I don't review businesses very often. Unfortunately I have no choice but to relay my experience with Amazing Flame. To cut to the chase, it was bad and I would absolutely not recommend them. If you need fireplace repair services find another company. I first used Amazing Flame in 2016 and they performed a good job. They resolved my problematic fireplace that "clicked" but did not start. I had the same issue at the end of the 2018 season but since winter was ending I did not want to spend the money to fix it at the time so I cancelled the appointment. I called them in November (2019) and it took about 6 weeks to get an appointment which is expected in the November and December time frame. A few days before my appointment I had an emergency work meeting and had to reschedule the fireplace appointment. I received an email asking me to Confirm my Appointment so, as directed in the email, called and emailed them to let them know that they can give my spot to another customer since they are busy in the fall and winter. To my complete surprise I got an email from Lenah Cox, who is their main customer service rep or has an ownership stake in the company, that basically stated that because I cancelled my appointment in 2018 that "We have documented this in your file ... We regret having to let you go..." Are you kidding? I've never experienced such an abrupt decision like that from a small business! And this happened after following their confirmation process! I felt run over by that decision and I had to then wait 4-6 weeks for an appointment with another company (that turned out wonderfully!) Apparently Amazing Flame has so much business that they can treat customers in such poor a way. It is their private business and they have every prerogative to make that choice, but it does come with consequences. I want to make sure that anyone considering this business is warned! This company does not understand that "life happens". If you change or cancel your appointment two times in a row, even a YEAR later, they will not do business with you. Can you imagine if Amazon operated like Amazing Flame? Nope, because great companies wouldn't exist if they operated with such poor service. Stay away!! read more

I had an issue with my gas fireplace although the pilot light was on. Contacted AF and they were able to get me an appointment the same week. During the service, found out that my batteries had exploded in the receiver unit. Instead of feeling badly that I had to pay over $200 for batteries and the service call, the tech (Jordan Emswiller) made me feel at ease when he also serviced my unit. He did all sorts of things to include, checked for gas leaks, checked for carbon monoxide, vacuumed inside the gas unit, added embers, cleaned the glass and adjusted my fan speed. In addition, he cleaned up very well after the service. I'd totally recommend Amazing Flames and will be using them to service my unit more often. I'd 1000% recommend this business. I had my gas fireplace serviced by Amazing Flame , and I couldn't be happier with the results. First, Lenah listed the cost for the visit ahead of time and very clearly explained the services that were included for the quoted fee. On the day of service, Russ showed up right on time and was both friendly and professional. By the end of the visit, my fireplace was working better than it had since I had moved to my house. We have used Amazing Flame twice now and both times their service has been excellent. Most recently, my gas fireplace quit working. The technician arrived on time (I was given a two hour window from 9-11 am and the technician arrived a little before 9; he called first and said he was on his way). He was very polite and quickly cleaned the fireplace and replaced the wall switch. He also replaced the rocks that went underneath the logs. Not only did he fix the problem, but the gas fireplace actually looked nicer than before because of the new rocks that he added. The cleaning fixed the problem. The cleaning cost 264 dollars, which was a little higher than a couple of the other quotes I received through Yelp. However, the customer service and quality of the work performed were worth the extra 10 dollars or so. I highly recommend and I will be using them in the future. read more

They have flat rates, the service man showed up on time at 7:30 AM, he did a great job, found the issue quickly and fixed it. I was less than impressed by their customer service. They wouldn't come to my house (12 miles from their office, which I can sort of appreciate), but they did recommend I call a company over 30 miles from my house. How does that make any sense at all? They never even offered to come out for a slightly higher driving fee. Nothing. Instead I get "Sorry we don't" when I inquired if they serviced my area. I'm happy for them that their business is just that darn booming that they can afford to turn down jobs that might be an extra five minutes down the road. However, when I move down the road to Purcellville next year, they're the last place I'll call. I should give them 2-stars or even 1-star, since I got zero service, but I can appreciate them having a defined service area (even if other folks reviewing on here seem to live further from Purcellville than me). We had a great visit. Our pilot light went out on our fireplace insert, and they came out, cleaned it, got it working again, and replaced our aged thermocoupler. In the spring, they're going to come back and remove the outer wall of the unit, wrap it all in insulation and reinstall it. (A defect our home builder gets blamed for.) That will greatly improve our heating/cooling efficiency in the house, and honestly, the price for that seemed really good. Very happy with the service person who visited.
