Small little bakery on the Boise bench. They have lots of cupcake options. Lots of different flavors and lots of different restrictions (such as gluten-free). The cupcakes are great and the buttercream frosting is excellent! Stop by and grab a cupcake.

Amaru brought us the most beautiful and delicious strawberry champagne wedding cake, and the best GF cake in the city. Thanks for being awesome!!

Always amazing and able to make exactly what I want! This was my cake for my woodland animal themed baby shower. Everyone loved it! Would highly recommend. I also ordered my wedding cake from them and it was perfect!

I'm always skeptical when trying new bakeries that offer gluten-free options, but celiac disease has me left with no choice. This gluten-free cake absolutely rocked my socks without making me sick and it was more than filling for the number of people I ordered for. I did ask for the cartoon-style frogs, but the other cakes in the shop had incredible detail so I wouldn't take my cake as the level of decorating skill that they can do. In addition, the service was great and they were quick to respond and the payment process was easy. I would HIGHLY recommend ordering if you need gluten-free baked goods!

Amaru is AMAZING! We just returned home from our daughter's graduation from Boise State and the cake was such a huge part of it! Not only was it super cute with so much detail, it was delicious! Thank you so much for helping us make this weekend perfect for our daughter.

Two stuck pins that were found in my cake I ordered from this company!

Buyer beware!! After ordering a cake from this company, Amaru Confections, two weeks in advance I had to wait in their parking lot for over an hour and a half! Then when Ingot the cake, no apologies or anything! Needed the cake by a certain time and it was late because of them. The WORST part was that two of my employees found stick pins INSIDE THE CAKE! They won't return my phone calls. Had to throw away the cake due to the worrying that more would be in there! Spent A LOT of money on this nightmare! Please be careful OF you choose to buy cakes from this place!

We were able to pick up a Lovely birthday cake at the last minute for our moms birthday dinner. Decorated nicely and was tasty we had the lemon huckleberry cake. The only thing that would have taken it over the top would have been a fresh huckleberry jam element inside (which we were hoping for/expecting) instead of a huckleberry flavored filling but still yummy

The first time I came here was to try the rainbow cupcake, unfortunately I came too early and they hadn't set them out yet so I got a vanilla sprinkle and a raspberry vanilla. The second trip I was able to get the rainbow cupcake. The cupcakes are beautifully presented in a small plastic container that is almost hard to get rid of because it's a huge waste of plastic. But nonetheless I understand the necessity and purpose so the cupcakes are held securely. I don't have much to say about the first two. They were very pretty but nothing way too out of the ordinary. The rainbow cupcake however was absolutely breathtaking! The colors blended perfectly together creating a smooth rich texture I found very satisfying to look at. The inside was very pretty as well. Something you may want to be aware of is that these cakes are primarily focused on being the prettiest creations in the room and not necessarily the best tasting food. The cake tasted similar to Walmart cupcake. No biggie, Walmart cupcakes are still yummy, but Amaru is rather pricey, so you have to go in knowing this to avoid walking out disappointed with the product.

This is the best place ever for cakes & cupcakes, especially gluten free & vegan. They are all delicious and made with good quality ingredients. I actually used them for my wedding cake and it turned out amazing!

I have celiac disease dairy is iffy as well.I recommend this to all my gluten-free homies. I feel good eating here!

6 out of five stars. My body does not tolerate gluten and dairy very well. I have found their cupcakes and desserts are very safe for me to eat. Also I don't feel like I'm missing out. The owner is super sweet and I would recommend this to all of my food sensitive homies.

It's weirdly difficult to find a good cupcake in my area. Maybe I'm picky, but I find that a lot of the popular cupcakeries make a cake that's dry and granular, with a stiff crumb. I can't figure out what gives--if cupcakes are your specialty, why are they so bad?! Amaru is the lovely exception. We ordered a vanilla and a lemon base cake, and both were light and soft, with a small, densely moist crumb. They held together in a marvelously fluffy way. They also *tasted* great, which is just as important. As for frosting, it's a version of buttercream, though I suspect it uses at least some shortening, based on the luster and consistency. It's not at all the commercial frosting we've become generally resigned to, i.e. some bizarre, overly-sweet sugar paste that tastes of chemicals. The frosting flavors here are a bit understated, and I think they could be amped up a bit to match the cupcakes, but the sweetness level is just right. Note that the cakes are stored in a refrigerated case: the frosting should soften up and be a nicer consistency if you let it sit for a while. We ate at the shop, but would have been happier if we'd taken our desserts home. There's also a variety of macarons, cookies, cinnamon rolls, filled croissants, and some other goodies I didn't note specifically. The macarons were just ok--that said, next time I need a cake, I know exactly where I'm going.

So bummed how this super easy/simple cake turned out & how thoughtless/poorly it was all put together. The fondant wasn't even smoothed out on the top, you could see exactly where the 1/2 polka dots were cut or left cut marks in (as you can see pictured), the placement of them also drove me crazy trying to take a "good picture" (again as you can see pictured), and the fondant balls at the bottom around the cake were all cracked. Such a waste of money in my opinion.

I used Amaru for my daughter and neice's joint birthday party. Ordering was easy and staff was very knowledgeable. I originally wanted cupcakes in a rainbow design. When they had concerns about the number of cupcakes I had ordered (not enough for a very big rainbow) they we're helpful in switching to a cake. I gave them full creative control within a rainbow theme. The result was way better than expected!!! Everyone complemented the cake both for how it looked and how it tasted.

I couldn't sleep last night so of course I decided to do some research on some local bakeries in…read moreour area. I am always down for something sweet! I have driven by this shop a million times but never got the chance to make it in. After checking out all their photos and goodies off their website, making my way in today was a must. The shop is very small and intimate. You are immediately greeted by all the goodies as soon as you walk in. Colorful macarons, the cutest cheesecakes and beautifully displayed scones and muffins. The display case is nice and bright, allowing you to be able to see the details and coloring of each macaron. The pretty piping on the cheesecake. The fun layers of the cakes. It was hard not to want one of each thing out of the case. It was our first visit for my daughter and I. As a new customer, you're trying to absorb everything about this store. You want to look at all your options! The gal that initially was going to help us pretty much just stood there and stared at us. Didn't really talk to us. Didn't ask if we had any questions. She had the most unpleasant look on her face. It honestly made me feel so unwanted and uncomfortable to be at the shop. I offered to let another customer go ahead of us so she wasn't just standing there waiting for us to order something. The second customer also needed some time. Finally a gentleman came in and she got him some coffee started. Another gal was working and she helped us. At that point, I was so turned off about getting anything but we were already there so we decided to grab a few things. My daughter and I decided to share a 6 pack of macarons. We snagged lemon, birthday cake, coffee, chocolate, creme brulee and cookies and cream as our flavor choices. She also got a red velvet cheesecake for us to share after dinner tonight. On our ride home, we broke that box of macarons open and had to try them all. The lemon was sweet and tangy, I love the lemon custard in the middle. Birthday cake reminds me of a pink frosted animal cookie. The chocolate was my favorite! Very chocolate forward and sweet. Coffee reminded me of a vanilla latte in cookie form. Cookies and cream was much like cookies and cream ice cream. More cream forward and less chocolate cookie. Creme brulee had sugar toasted on top which created a slight bitterness to the cookie but it was balanced with how sweet the cookie was. All 6 macarons were fabulous! I look forward to having the red velvet cheesecake after dinner tonight. I like that there are so many gluten free options at this bakery. I adore how petite and prettily decorated the pastries were. I appreciate that this joint is local as I love supporting local businesses. But, first impressions are so huge for me and my first impression of their customer service wasn't there for me. You can push out great products all you want but how you make someone feel during their purchase can make or break your business. As fantastic as my macarons were, all I can think about was how uncomfortable I was when I was just being stared at. Macarons and cheesecake can be purchased at a few joints in our valley. I'm happy I got to enjoy some goodies with my daughter but I'm going to go support another local business that will actually make me feel like a valued customer and not a bother.

Headed to gym event, but needed doughnuts haha! Did they have them? Nnnnnnope! Made me very sad. This place sells their cookies in WinCo and I think Whole Foods. Their cookies are RIDICULOUSLY AMAZING! I could easily eat a bag of 8 in probably half a day lol. Then I'd get all depressed because my bikini wouldn't fit right :( So when I asked about the doughnuts she said they haven't been making them and I think she said it was because of staffing issues. Thanks to the virus and people now refusing to work because the government is giving them too much in unemployment, this is the case with way too many restaurants, bakeries, etc. That's my subtle jab at the current government and what they're doing to the country lol! So I left without doughnuts BUUUUT I did buy a bag of cookies. The same bag I could have bought at WinCo or Whole Foods. She said basically everything they did that morning was make the cookies for the stores and she watched them leave to take them to the stores. Exciting! I felt all guilty as soon as I bit into one of the cookies but OMFG THEY ARE SO GOOD! Have y'all ever been to a crumbl? If you have one where you live GOOOOO! This places cookies are basically they lower calorie version of Crumbl because some Crumbl cookies have 850 calories in ONE cookie hahahaha! Is it worth it tho? Absolutely lol So are these cookies, but if you are trying to watch your calorie intake then maybe stay away because you can tear through a bag of these with ease. Chocolate crinkle and snickerdoodles are my go-to's! Ooooooh! Ok, y'all, WTF is with the twist ties you used to tie up the bags of cookies? STOP using those! They are literally THE WORST! I'm sure they're cost effective but stop! I'm also sure with selling to those two major grocery stores plus selling them in your bakery that you can absolutely afford to use better ties, ones that we can actually open and reuse vs these where you can't just open them, you have to cut the top of the bag and then basically...the bag is useless after that. I know this sounds petty, but ugh they're they worst! Aside from that, this place is super nice. It's in a very weird location tho, I was surprised by that. It's like the only sit down place on this street. Across from them is a warehouse of some sort, half a block up are homes, it's just seems like it would be better on the north end, or NW Boise, basically anywhere other than where it is lol. The staff is super sweet, the ones that were there lol. I'll definitely be going back. Glad my first experience there was a decent one even if they didn't have doughnuts for my heffa ass hahahaha! Thanks for reading, Yelpiiteees! Cheers!

I was pulling onto Orchard by the Idaho Youth Ranch and saw their sign. I needed to stop in and see what kind of goodies they had. Walking in, you're greeted by their menu. Lots of goodies to choose from. I appreciate that this bakery uses gut friendly sourdough. My friend who I normally buy my sourdough from decided to take a break from baking. So now I'm trying to find someone who can compare to her delicious sourdough. The store is awkwardly set up. Racks separating the bakery from the store front. If someone is standing in front of the bread rack, you're pretty much stuck until they move. The front of the bread rack is what leads to the front door. But, as congested as it was, the racks and shelves were perfectly stocked loaves of sliced sourdough bread, cookies and rolls. It was overwhelming trying to check everything out without fearing you might bump into someone. They only had a couple options for the sweet goods, I honestly thought there would be more for Valentine's day. There were quite a few options of savory goods. The lady behind the counter said they had a late start so that could possibly be why there weren't many sweets available. I did grab a red velvet cinnamon roll and some chocolate chip cookies for a couple of my Valentines. I was interested in getting a loaf of sourdough for my husband. The only loaves they had available were kinda small. I was hoping for something bigger loaf that would last us for more than meal. The cookies were a hit with my family. I did have some of my daughter's red velvet cinnamon roll. It was killer. The cinnamon roll was soft and flavorful from the chocolate. The frosting on top added an extra touch of sweetness. I only had a couple bites but I could have polished it off easily. Not gonna lie, those 2 things I got were pricey. The singular cinnamon roll was 7+ bucks. It was a decent size but pricey for just 1 roll. The cookies were 4 to a package and at a similar price point or more. For those 2 items my total was 20 bucks. With people budgeting their money now a days, bread and pastries from this joint would be considered a luxury. People want a good amount of bang for their buck. What I got today was good but I don't see myself coming regularly when there's other local bakers that can make the same product for a portion of the cost. My interaction with the gal behind the counter was ok. She was more chatty with a couple regular guests. I'm happy I got to stop into this local bakery and grab a couple things.
