The client had a vision for the desserts and Blythe came through, squeezing in this special order for patriotic cupcakes, as well as a birthday cake, during peak wedding season. I REALLY appreciated that. Blythe was very responsive - like immediate responses - and made the whole process so easy, which I greatly appreciated since I had many other elements to line up prior to the day of the event. Blythe delivered the cupcakes in a variety of DELICIOUS and moist flavors (the carrot cake was out of this world and SO flavorful and "spicey" and was a favorite amongst the guests) and displayed them on a wrapped wooden board and secured each to the board with a little dab of icing to keep them in place. The display was EXACTLY like the inspiration photo, right down to the fondant stars! Though we had so many special touches as the Celebration of Life luncheon, I think the cupcake display was the client's favorite. Blythe also made a birthday cake for the client's daughter's birthday, which was the next day, and delivered that on time to their Air B&B. Working with Blythe made the experience so easy. I will definitely call on her again for my future events! Patty, Creative Coordination Meridian, ID

Owner/operator Katie Fokias Wheeler was born in North East England, where she lived until marrying an American soldier from Weiser, Idaho. Today, Katie and her family live in Kuna. She named her business after a historical home she and her husband visited on their honeymoon. Katie sells her baked goods and preserves at local farmer's markets, as well as event/bazaar booths. She also takes custom orders of just about anything British, including savory items. To find and/or contact Katie, join her private Facebook page, or you can call her. I have included a photo that is a screenshot of her Facebook page. I visited Katie at the Meridian farmers market, which she frequents. KM and I bought a variety of items. Some of our favorites were the Cherry Bakewell Tarts, Jam & Coconut Sponge cake, Scones, and Shortbread. We also enjoyed getting to try the "Royal Wedding" Elderflower Sponge cake. If you recall, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had a Lemon-Elderflower cake with raspberry filling for their wedding cake. I can't say enough good things about this unique business. Whether you're planning a tea party, want to surprise your favorite Anglophile, or just want to purchase some delicious treats for you and your family, Cragside Downs has exactly what you are looking for. Highly Recommended!!!

I couldn't sleep last night so of course I decided to do some research on some local bakeries in…read moreour area. I am always down for something sweet! I have driven by this shop a million times but never got the chance to make it in. After checking out all their photos and goodies off their website, making my way in today was a must. The shop is very small and intimate. You are immediately greeted by all the goodies as soon as you walk in. Colorful macarons, the cutest cheesecakes and beautifully displayed scones and muffins. The display case is nice and bright, allowing you to be able to see the details and coloring of each macaron. The pretty piping on the cheesecake. The fun layers of the cakes. It was hard not to want one of each thing out of the case. It was our first visit for my daughter and I. As a new customer, you're trying to absorb everything about this store. You want to look at all your options! The gal that initially was going to help us pretty much just stood there and stared at us. Didn't really talk to us. Didn't ask if we had any questions. She had the most unpleasant look on her face. It honestly made me feel so unwanted and uncomfortable to be at the shop. I offered to let another customer go ahead of us so she wasn't just standing there waiting for us to order something. The second customer also needed some time. Finally a gentleman came in and she got him some coffee started. Another gal was working and she helped us. At that point, I was so turned off about getting anything but we were already there so we decided to grab a few things. My daughter and I decided to share a 6 pack of macarons. We snagged lemon, birthday cake, coffee, chocolate, creme brulee and cookies and cream as our flavor choices. She also got a red velvet cheesecake for us to share after dinner tonight. On our ride home, we broke that box of macarons open and had to try them all. The lemon was sweet and tangy, I love the lemon custard in the middle. Birthday cake reminds me of a pink frosted animal cookie. The chocolate was my favorite! Very chocolate forward and sweet. Coffee reminded me of a vanilla latte in cookie form. Cookies and cream was much like cookies and cream ice cream. More cream forward and less chocolate cookie. Creme brulee had sugar toasted on top which created a slight bitterness to the cookie but it was balanced with how sweet the cookie was. All 6 macarons were fabulous! I look forward to having the red velvet cheesecake after dinner tonight. I like that there are so many gluten free options at this bakery. I adore how petite and prettily decorated the pastries were. I appreciate that this joint is local as I love supporting local businesses. But, first impressions are so huge for me and my first impression of their customer service wasn't there for me. You can push out great products all you want but how you make someone feel during their purchase can make or break your business. As fantastic as my macarons were, all I can think about was how uncomfortable I was when I was just being stared at. Macarons and cheesecake can be purchased at a few joints in our valley. I'm happy I got to enjoy some goodies with my daughter but I'm going to go support another local business that will actually make me feel like a valued customer and not a bother.

Unfortunately, the flavors didn't live up to the presentation for me. I tried the carrot cake cupcake and was expecting a classic cream cheese frosting, but what I got tasted more like a very sweet white frosting. If there was cream cheese in it, I couldn't really tell. The cake itself also had a slightly soapy/perfumey flavor, almost like the batter picked up fragrance from a recently cleaned counter. I'm very sensitive to that taste and it really threw me off. I also tried the Boston Cream Pie cupcake. There was barely any Bavarian cream filling inside, which was disappointing since that's the main reason to order that flavor. The cupcake was also very crumbly, making it difficult to hold and eat. Overall, the shop is cute and the display is beautiful, but the flavors I tried didn't quite deliver. I might give it another try someday in case I just picked the wrong flavors.
