The place is open and bright wherever you sit, whether on the outdoor patio, downstairs by the bar, or upstairs. Service was excellent. My reservation was smoothly handled, and my server took good care of me. I got offeres some bread and butter after I ordered, which was really a nice surprise. The offered breads were seeded, ollve, and rustic style. All delicious, especially with the sweet butter. For the main meal, I got a half dozen oysters, an order of cha gio and their Ahi Dragon Noodle Salad. The cha gio were crispy, not greasy, sweet and savoury. The oysters were super fresh, sweet and a good size. Along with the usual condiments, they included pickled red onion, which is the first time I've ever had this. I really enjoyed the acidic sweet bite enhancing the sweetness of the oysters. The Ahi Dragon Noodle Salad had microgreens, red cabbage, red and green and yellow sweet pepper, red chili pepper, edamame, coriander, green onions, and fried parsnip chips. The Ahi was charred on the outside, fresh and meaty. I appreciate that the sesame oil, soy sauce and hint of chili on the perfectly chewy noodles was separate from the veggies. The vegetables had a very clean flavour, but I would have liked something more, maybe a touch of citrus. A glass of good wine rounded out the whole experience. I was way too full at the end of the meal to even contemplate dessert. All in all, a great meal, and I would return any time.

She had said Red House's was different since their gravy was Thanksgiving-like, which isn't typical (?). The poutine was fantastic!!! Hot brown savory gravy melting the lil cheese curds so they were melty over the crispy and salty fries. YUM. We also got the shareable fried chicken and each got salads - the portions themselves were huge and after almost finishing the poutine and splitting the chicken, were too full to eat our salads. Staff were also so attentive and great. Definitely heading back next time I'm in town!

When we asked why ( we aren't above waiting however had booked the reservation bc we know how busy it gets on a Saturday night). He then told us that it was a family run business and he could throw anyone out of it that he wanted. Then when he was finally showing us to a table told us that we couldn't sit down until we apologized to him. Just to be clear, we had not been disrespectful only had mentioned that we had a reservation. It was supposed to be a fun ladies night out where we introduced one of our friends to the great food we have normally had here however we left and won't be back after the embarrassment and disrespect we felt from the behaviour of this host.

The food is great -- fresh, flavourful, and clearly made with care. It's the kind of place you want to like. That said, for the price, the portions feel underwhelming. The smashburger, while tasty, is about the size of a standard McDonald's cheeseburger, and a handful of fries just doesn't cut it at this price point. A bit more generosity on the plate would go a long way in matching the quality of the experience with the value. Still worth a visit -- just don't come too hungry.

I only recall trying poutine when I was younger so I figured I'd give it another try. They have Poutine as a whole order, but I was glad to see that they have it as a side option. The food entries comes with a side of your choice (fries, house salad, sweet potato fries (+$2.99) , caesar salad (+$3.50), or poutine (+$3.50)). The portions of the food were huge, so you definitely get your bang for your buck here. Each dish was neatly placed and was so good! The bread from the club was crunchy yet soft and the chicken was moist. The ingredient felt very fresh! The poutine was a tad salty, but I think that is how poutine is? Since it's gravy and cheese (two salty ingredients). It was just the perfect amount to share with the family since we all just wanted a little bit to refresh our taste buds. My family also ordered the Chipotle Chicken Caesar Wrap with the house salad ($19.99); Fish and Chips ($19.99), and Grilled Chicken Club with the house salad ($19.99). The chipotle chicken caesar wrap was HUGE. My mom said it was very good and that it wasn't too overpowered with all the flavors and sauces. I was able to try a bite of her house salad and was also impressed by the fresh ingredients of the salad. You can tell it is a good salad when the salt actually crunches and does not just wilt there. The Fish and Chips were pretty good according to my brother in law. Crispy, not totally too greasy and a large piece on top. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal here in this small town. It had a cosy interior with very nice staff. FYI, the menu is located solely online! Reception could be a little spotty, so they have wifi for you in case you need it! The place is a bit dated and could use some fresh updates to the decorating, but it was still charming, comfortable seating, had tv to watch...but was VERY hot inside. My trip to Kingston fell, of course, during that heat dome event...and I already HATE summer and hot weather. The temperature in the restaurant wasn't terrible but I was sweating. Turned out to be worth it. They have a full bar and Laura, my server, made me a pineapple mimosa on request. She looked to be handling the fairly busy place by herself with help from I believe the owner or manager. She handled everything very well and wasn't too busy to tell me Happy Birthday (I had on a shirt and she was one of the few people who did) and chat a bit and be friendly. I appreciated that. She was obviously very hot running inside and out to the patio tables, but she maintained her composure and worked very hard. I ordered the breakfast poutine and they added the pulled pork to it when I asked. I also got a side of the baked beans. The fries were very fresh, crispy and tender. There were scrambled eggs, fresh crumbled bacon, cheese sauce and that glorious pulled pork on top. I really enjoyed this dish. Great idea, breakfast poutine! While eating I got to speak the owner (I believe she was). She was from Arizona so we are both dual citizens. We had a good talk about Dump decimating the US. The owner is a very liberal, accepting, kind person. Makes you feel good to support businesses run by compassionate people. The service was great. Food was phenomenal. Yes, the beans were so tasty too. Kind staff. Cute decor. I am returning to Kingston in October and will definitely be stopping in at Tommy's again. Fantastic diner food!
