    Chicken parm, Flintstone size
    Deb B.

This is one of the most interesting places I have eaten at lately. It is located in a particularly rural part of Oswego county. It seems to be a cross between a biker bar and a senior citizen restaurant. I arrived on a Tuesday, which apparently was chicken Parmesan night. We were told to seat ourselves, which we did, and as I walked through the restaurant, I saw many people eating Flintstone size dinners. We were greeted by a very upbeat waitress who served at jet speed. The menu was a mix of bar food sandwiches, and dinners. Everything is a La carte, and when I saw the enormous portions, I didn't order an appetizer. I ordered the fish fry dinner and my husband, the haddock dinner. My granddaughter was in the mood for chicken Parmesan, especially smelling it, and seeing approximately 70% of the restaurant eating this dish. This was really the centerpiece of the night. There had to be a good half a pound of spaghetti topped with the most enormous chicken breast I have ever seen. The waitress had all she could do to carry two dishes at a time. Our fish dinners were enormous as well and served piping hot and tasty. My granddaughter ate approximately 15% of the chicken Parm, and just like everybody else in the restaurant took the rest home. She will probably be able to eat it the rest of the week. In fact, that one dish could serve a table of four. The atmosphere is congenial, and everybody seem to be upbeat. The reason I can't give it five stars is because of the fly paper hanging in the corner. I've never seen that in a restaurant. No flies bothered us, I'll give them that!

Don't be fooled into thinking that this is just a dive bar, or more accurately a locals and fishing bar. In Salmon Season in this rural village on the world-famous Salmon River in NY in late September into October, they serve hundreds of huge plates of food to hungry fishermen daily. For those leaning towards healthy eating they feature a grilled chicken salad which I couldn't finish last night. They always have a great selection of hearty, tasty homemade soups, usually 4/day. A bowl of soup and their great wings are a great casual dinner for me. Tuesdays they feature a Chicken Parm that will knock your socks off with both size and flavor. Even after a full day of winter fly fishing for steelheads I have never been able to finish even 1/2 of this, despite it being the best tasting I've ever eaten. Fully a pound+ of crispy chicken breast and another pound of pasta will defeat even the most aggressive eaters, but it'll be worth every mile you'll have to walk to work it off. It's what's for dinner tonight! A very friendly and efficient staff will take good care of you, and are available to serve you the same great food year round. I love this bar.

Live music, fast, tasty food & great service & atmosphere. The deserts are phenomenal!

I need a long nap and no eating for a week.

This was just as expected a large portion of chicken parm. However, it wasn't just a large portion but it was delicious as well. I have been to this place several times since I found it 2 years ago prior to covid. I come up each year for a few weeks and one thing I like about this resturant is it is consistent. It has a great menu something for everyone and the food is consistently good. It broke my heart seeing how difficult it was for them to navigate the covid mess but they did it. I know from seeing all the posts on facebook it was hard but with strong community support they survived. Thank goodness this a must on your list for places to eat.

Love my wine, but I had to add the white claw to it.

We have been here several times and come for their burgers. They also have a great selection of craft brews. The bartender was also working as our server and was very attentive and also caught an error in one of our parties plates and quickly remedied the situation without question. This time we diverted a bit and I had the Charleston. It was a very good chicken sandwich with pepper jack cheese and a homemade ranch dressing. The ale house Philly was equally delicious. It appears that they have added to their menu since we were last here as well.

Inside is a typical bar layout that leads to the crowded outdoor patio overlooking the river. Lots of unclean, uncleared tables. Staff wasn't rude but they sure as heck weren't excited to be there. The "jumbo wings" were not jumbo. And if these are the best rated in upstate then there is a serious wing problem around here. Some of them were overcooked and crunchy and some of them were barely cooked. The garlic parm is. Nothing but an oily greasy mess. And then there was the bill... $10 for FIVE wings and 50 cents for a tiny thing of blue cheese. Unreal. They also added in credit card fee, which is no longer allowed in NYS. Meh, I'll pass on this place again.

The food is great -- fresh, flavourful, and clearly made with care. It's the kind of place you want to like. That said, for the price, the portions feel underwhelming. The smashburger, while tasty, is about the size of a standard McDonald's cheeseburger, and a handful of fries just doesn't cut it at this price point. A bit more generosity on the plate would go a long way in matching the quality of the experience with the value. Still worth a visit -- just don't come too hungry.

I only recall trying poutine when I was younger so I figured I'd give it another try. They have Poutine as a whole order, but I was glad to see that they have it as a side option. The food entries comes with a side of your choice (fries, house salad, sweet potato fries (+$2.99) , caesar salad (+$3.50), or poutine (+$3.50)). The portions of the food were huge, so you definitely get your bang for your buck here. Each dish was neatly placed and was so good! The bread from the club was crunchy yet soft and the chicken was moist. The ingredient felt very fresh! The poutine was a tad salty, but I think that is how poutine is? Since it's gravy and cheese (two salty ingredients). It was just the perfect amount to share with the family since we all just wanted a little bit to refresh our taste buds. My family also ordered the Chipotle Chicken Caesar Wrap with the house salad ($19.99); Fish and Chips ($19.99), and Grilled Chicken Club with the house salad ($19.99). The chipotle chicken caesar wrap was HUGE. My mom said it was very good and that it wasn't too overpowered with all the flavors and sauces. I was able to try a bite of her house salad and was also impressed by the fresh ingredients of the salad. You can tell it is a good salad when the salt actually crunches and does not just wilt there. The Fish and Chips were pretty good according to my brother in law. Crispy, not totally too greasy and a large piece on top. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal here in this small town. It had a cosy interior with very nice staff. FYI, the menu is located solely online! Reception could be a little spotty, so they have wifi for you in case you need it! My husband, brother and I were excited to find seats at the bar and order dinner. The bartender was a short blonde woman and there was a male bar back. The bartender did not acknowledge us for over 15 minutes. We were actively looking at the menu on our phones and talking about what we wanted to try and attempted to make eye contact with her as she walked by us with no luck. She didn't even say "I will be right with you", literally no interaction. She was very friendly with everyone else around us seeming to know exactly what they were drinking and happy to get it for them. We left as we felt very unwelcome there and ended up having excellent service down the street at Lukin's.

There were 3 girls behind the bar but one seemed to be doing most of the bar work. As I put on my jacket to leave, I finally had the attention of one of the girls so I decided to take my chances and stick with my dinner plan. She got me a menu and asked for my drink order. There weren't any hard ciders on tap but they did have canned Awestruck (local). I noticed the fried pickle appetizer and asked her about it. She told me they were spears and very popular. My pickle fries came out first since they were an app and I can tell you two things about them...the portion was huge and they were absolutely the best I've ever had! Not long afterward, my burger arrived and that was really tasty as well. I opted to bring the rest of my pickles home and I can tell you that even the next day, with the help of the air fryer, they were still tasting great! I am so glad I stayed!
