We ( Jason R and I) have had zero issues with Alterra, they were referred to is by a neighbor. When we call in between their quarterly visits they make sure they get to us. ( I have never come across so many spiders!!! No other state I have lived in has this many) Today Josh and Dylan or maybe it was Darryl came by to spray our house. He was polite, asked if we wanted the inside sprayed as well. I told him yes, the upstairs has had a few bugs. He also killed a spider that was on my front door before I had a chance to stomp it with my flip flop!!!!! And it was with his hand! Go Josh! No issues at all and we would refer them to others. I can understand people complaining about the door to door service but that is how these places make money-cold calls. read more

I feel like we got tricked in signing the contract with this company. Before signing the contract, they told me I can cancel services whenever. But, when I called customer service wanting to cancel they told me there's a cancelation fee which they conveniently never told me about at the time of signing up. I will pay for that cancelation fee rather than stay with these dishonest people and I do not recommend anyone or any of my friends or family with these people. read more

I'm not incredibly impressed with this company. We have a no soliciting sign with the city code printed on it hanging near our front door, but they caught my husband outside doing yard work and managed to talk him into buying their service. After their first treatment we actually noticed more bugs in the house than normal, and their solution to treat ants was to put gross sticky gel around my windows so now I just have piles of dead ants stuck to my windows. We scheduled a free follow up to have them do another treatment. They didn't show up and they didn't call. So we called again and rescheduled. They came and planned on only treating the outside of the house, but I made them come in and treat the inside as well. It's been a waste of time and money so far. I've never had this much trouble with other pest control companies. read more

We are new Alterra customers with just two treatments under out belt. We called them for their free retreat service when our daughter saw a mouse in our house on Thanksgiving night. We set traps for several days on our own but had no luck catching it. Within seconds of explaining the issue, Lee identified exactly where the mouse (or mice...) were living. He set several traps and explained what to do going forward to prevent. He took additional measures that our two prior servicemen had not when retreating, and we were very pleased that he was going the extra mile for us. Lee gets 5 stars!!! My overall rating is 4 stars only because the prior two service men were somewhere between fine and good....but not necessarily great. We're optimistic, though, that our relationship with Alterra is going to be a long and good one. read more

Worst pest service! Signed up for the yearly plan, they came out in the in the winter right after a huge snow storm, with almost a foot of snow on the ground, and footprints only a one side of the house, claimed they performed their service and tried to charge for that. Do not use this company, they not only have a terrible product and service, their customer service and dealing with the company is even worse! read more

Just had the initial service done by Oscar Gordea. He did a great job of explaining everything he was doing and how the service will work in the future. So far so good. Impressed with the level of professionalism and service from the sales rep to the technician. Hope this great service will last. I gave in and signed a contract when they came door to door one day. A week later we started seeing alot of ants. We called and they were very friendly. Said they could have someone out the next day. Donell arrived early in the time frame as I said I was on my lunch hour. He checked around for outside evidence of the ants. He listened to concerns and paid extra attention to the room that was having the most trouble. He gave extra treatments to use in the problem areas. He was very friendly and professional. As promised, the follow up visit was at no charge. So far, I've been pleased. read more

Total waste of money!! Foolishly signed up for a year contract with this company, big mistake. At $135 a quarter all they do is spend less then 5 min on the property tick some boxes on a sheet stating what they have performed and all they do is spray less then $1 worth of product around the doors. Do yourself A favor if they come knocking on your door, tell them to leave go to the store and spent $20 on ortho home Defense and spray it around your foundation every six months and you are golden. read more

Lee came to our house yesterday upon request. We have been seeing some small ants in different areas of our house. We have been under a contract with pest control for a few years now, so I was a little surprised to see anything. I looked outside my home and found one very active ant trail going into the house. I told Lee about it and he said he would treat it with some bait and some other treatment. He said he would look around the rest of the house just to be sure. Wow, he found 22 different ant trails that he treated. He really went above and beyond to spend that amount of time to try and really help solve this problem for us. Kudos! I guess time will tell on if the thretment worked or not, but I feel tons better knowing what he found and treated. read more

I feel like I'm a fickle reviewer, but I am a firm believer that if someone redeems themselves, they deserve that acknowledgement. First of all, we called 4 or 5 times to cancel our service but never were able to speak to an actual person and never received a call back. So, when the serviceman showed up today for our quarterly service (more than a quarter since last service), we were surprised and my husband explained to them that we had cancelled our service. We agreed to go ahead and keep the service as one last chance of redemption. I explained to the tech the issues/concerns we had after the last visit and he explained why we experienced the ants and apologized for the lack of attention we received during that visit (different techs). He was very polite and like Gene, our first tech, explained exactly what he was doing and what it would do. I gave 3 stars because I'm not ready to forget the previous service, but if we can get consistent service like Josh provided, we will keep your service. read more

The service was awful. They made the bugs worse so bad that by the time we hired someone else to replace them they had to remove 14 wasp nests from our back porch. In addition, the billing and office staff seemed completely incapable of handling an account that paid for two separate locations. I have been very unhappy with this company overall. read more

They really do the "hard sell" if you engage with one of their door-to-door solicitors! I told him multiple times I was not interested. He refused to hear me, and just kept trying to convince me I need their services. I understand needing to make sales so you can get paid, but when I tell you I'm not interested, you need to let it go. If I need pest control, I will call a company, but probably not this one, based on my interaction with the sales rep. You have to wonder about a company that pushes its sales staff to hard sell to potential customers. read more

I have a no soliciting sign on my front door. I pointed it out the salesman who came to my door and he said "I'm not soliciting, I'd just like to talk to you about signing up for pest control services. Four of your neighbors signed up and I can get you a great deal because I'm in the area". We then went back and forth about the definition of soliciting and I directed him to leave. I called the office in Kansas and had someone tell me that he has the right to knock on my door because my sign only said "no soliciting" and didn't give a code number for my specific city. I called the city and the non emergency police number and verified that was not correct. I called her back and provided this info. THE VERY NEXT DAY the same young man came to my house again. He said "I'm here because your neighbor signed up with us and I can get you a great deal on pest control services". I pointed to the sign again and said " I have this sign here for a reason". His response "Your neighbor had the same sign and I got her a great deal". Needless to say, I don't recommend this service. read more

I tried to be nice about stopping the service got a call from the so called manager saying to call him back when I had already called the office. They sent a second person out and I told him the same thing I do not need this waste of my time. He called the office and gave me the manager's name called him immediately he wasn't in the office this is CRAP! I told the girl this was enough I wasn't going to call back I quit the service period. I wasn't yelling but I was stern she said I didn't have to yell and I said I wasn't yelling but I could if she would like to hear the difference. Don't get roped into using this company! The guy that came to my door promised all kinds of treatments that have not been delivered. They over promise and under deliver. The guy that came out for a quarterly service was here for less that 10 minutes. The time before that they treated right before a torrential rain storm and told me that the granules don't get washed away by the water. Really? Oh and they scam you into signing a contract and when you tell them to cancel (for sub par work) they inform you that you owe them $199.00! I just signed up and Alissa came out today to do the initial service. She was super friendly even though she had to wait 15 minutes for me to get there. She did a great job of explaining what they do and how it works. She warned me that after the first spray, there will be more bugs as the treatment pushes them out of their homes and it takes about 7-10 days for them to all die out. Even though they follow up in a month, she assured me that they will come sooner if I feel there are too many bugs coming out of the woodwork. This is the worst company I have ever used. you call them all you get is a answering machine and if they call you back which has only happened twice. The spray they use for spiders must be water or food for them because it has NEVER WORKED YET! I have also had them spray for fleas and they multiplied instead of no fleas. They was so bad you could not walk outside without several getting on you. If you are smart then you will not use this company. Oh by the way they also will keep telling you that you have to finish the quarter service or you will have to pay the canceling fee. this is the most rip off company I have ever use. they have came to my house so many time to kill spiders and they have webs outside and well as inside. I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT, I repeat NOT recommend this company. Their service tech has treated our property perimeter twice and there have been more spiders AND cock roaches inside our home since. LIVED HERE 2 YEARS AND HAVE NEVER HAD ROACHES BEFORE!! When I called to cancel I was told the initial service was reduced from $199 to $39 and that in order to cancel I'd have to pay the difference which is $160. This is ridiculous since the initial service was no different than the second "treatment". I'm angry that I even agreed to use their services......it would have been a lot less expensive to buy bug spray from a Home Depot or Lowes and spray myself!!. It's unfortunate there are businesses like this that rape consumers. read more
