Home had ants inside an outside. Called Terminix and got the standard (cheapest) pest control plan for bug/insect control inside and outside of my home. I was quoted a rate of $60.00 per month for the Pest Plan. Scheduled an appointment. When the guy arrived at the home, it took him less than 10 minutes to spray. WTF?? I assumed whole-house pest protection which in my mind, would include spraying the inside and outside of the entire home. How can you adequately spray the entire home for bugs in less than 10 minutes?? Three (3) days later the home still had ants. Scheduled another appointment for spraying. Took off work on the scheduled day but guy was a no-show. Rescheduled for another day in the morning. Again, took off work for the rescheduled appointment but the guy showed instead in the afternoon. Come to find out when the credit card statement that there was an initial fee of over $250.00 that I got charged. I was never told about this initial fee, it just showed up on my credit card statement. That is a lousy way to do business, in my opinion. I called to complain about the oversight and they offered me the same plan for a new rate of $30,00 a month. They would have course keep the $250.00. I was already pissed by that time and I decided to cancel their services. An expensive lesson to learn but nevertheless, I will not do business with a Company that CONVENIENTLY forgets to mention any additional attached "Customer Fees". Definitely agree with alot of the reviews. Terminix service is very VERY poor. Theres no way to contact your local branch directly, I've experienced many no call no shows in the past year, our facility has had a continuous issue with water bugs that is getting worse even after treating monthly, reschedule after reschedule, not showing up at time they stated (almost as if they're waiting until I'm no longer at work to show up when they do) not following through with services requested, and even telling me to buy and install bug traps myself! It is not a surprise when you Google search terminix that you cannot see they're ratings or reviews like other pest control companies in your area. Our facility will now be looking for another contractor to handle pur pest control needs. I called Terminix over a month ago to cancel their service and lo and behold they still come today and bill us for today's services that we had cancelled. I contact the company as soon as I got the text they had come and they did find a note in their records that I had requested to cancel...but they said I hung up while being transferred to another person to actually cancel service. (How many people do you have to tell?) AND I did not hang up...if anything, the transferred call was disconnected. Their services are over-priced to begin with. Be ware of using them! read more

Terminix service is terrible. I waited all day yesterday for the inspector and the exterminator to come - l try to call the branch office and they send you to the call center. They have no idea what the local office or their technicians are doing. I waited from 10 to 12. Nobody called me. Nobody showed up. I called them twice. They said I was next. They said the technician is in route. He's gonna call me but never did.. inspector called me about 3 PM. He said he was there 11 and nobody was there. Nobody called me is what I told him. He says when they outsourced the phone calls to a call center. It's the worst thing they could've done for customers - this is directly from the Inspector . The exterminator never showed up then I get an email this morning saying he showed up at closing and caused my employee to stay overtime Wow - they are the worst company to use - poor communication and service.-I asked for a manager to call me yesterday -his name is Matt from the local office. Service is horrible. In fact it is less than that since it is non-existent. Have a contract for termites signed while the weather was cold and they were not active. Now 3 months later, waiting for treatment and the termites are now active. Have called the office 4 times over the last 4 weeks and requested to get service and to have a service rep call me. Nobody has yet called, no service yet to treat the termites. Also, even thought the contract gives a local office number, you get a rep on the phone who is not local, has no ability to transfer to a manager and cannot give a contact number for them either. You can't leave zero stars, so I had to settle for 1 star. We had a contract for 1 year, and once it expires they continued to charge our card at a reduced rate. The next day after the charge we said we wanted to Cxl, which they said you can cancel after this new charge. We asked to credit the amount, and they said NO. They came to my house 2 days later to retrieve the termite traps, and I said no, you can pick them up when my last month is complete. We were also quoted x price for mosquito treatment, which did nothing, and then they charged us a higher price. Awful company to deal with. read more

BEWARE!!! DO NOT USE TERMIX. I purchased basic termite care and paid out close to 600 dollars for an initial payment which included the installation of a few bait traps, and a monthly charge of about 100 dollars per month. I ended up selling my home several months later, and called to cancel my service, and then learned that when I was told I could cancel at any time, that it wasn't exactly true. It turns out that my first hefty payment DID NOT cover the bait traps, and cancelling would cost me an additional 697 dollars. Also, calling is a nightmare. You will NEVER be able to speak with your local branch. The call is always re routed to a national call center, and believe me, you not be met with any sort of empathy there at all. Shop around: You will find that there are plenty of better companies out there!! read more

We recently decided to use Termindor HE (drilling) at the residence as a preventative for termites. Our sales rep was Lewis Gulley. Lewis was on time for the appointment, professional, friendly and honest. Lewis is the whole reason why we decided to use Terminix instead of any of their competitors. He also made himself readily available for any follow up questions or concerns that might have come up. He didn't attempt to sell us services that were not warranted. The only reason I am rating them 4 stars is because of how the work was handled at the residence during the appointment. Henry, the primary technician, did a great job. On the other hand, I was less than impressed with Joshua. Joshua's attention to detail just wasn't there because he was too focused on trying to sell us gutter guards. He missed filling 4 drill holes: 2 were caught on the back concrete patio before they left; the other 2 holes were caught the next day and were located on our from concrete porch near our Ring doorbell. Henry had to come back to fill the holes. Joshua tried to tell us we needed gutter guards because our gutters were sloping/slanting. Our gutters are 5-7 years old. There is nothing wrong with them. I'll go as far to say we have had several companies out here in the last 60 days, including an insurance adjuster, our gutter cleaning company, a roofer, and an EIFS inspector; they all have stated the gutters are fine. I'd also think if there was a problem with the gutters that Lewis would have addressed it when he was originally at the residence. . . Before they left, Joshua came to the door and stated we would receive a survey about their work by e-mail. He asked me to rate them a 9 or over because this is how the technician's pay is based. I have a degree in statistics. I know that it biases a survey and is considered unethical for an employee to request specific numbers on the rating scale. I was pretty taken back. This type of solicitation needs to be addressed by a manager. The experiences lessened our trust in the Overland Park Terminix office even though we have full faith in Lewis. Other than those issues, I would use Terminix in the future. I believe the office will appropriately address the behavior after reading this review. read more

Customer for 6 months. Was lied to by the sales rep that i could cancel anytime. Consistently see new bugs that i didn't before. Waited to talk to a customer service rep for over 30 minutes and gave up. The call numbers all go to the same place and they have said for the past week they are having high call volumes and to leave a message and it will be returned in 24 hours. Have left 3 un returned messages so far in a week's time. Was flat out lied to by the service tech when he said he knocked down wasp nests- had another company come out and they found 13 and showed them to me. I need to cancel this contract beyond disappointed with this company! Do not sign up for their service. Can't even get ahold of someone at the call number to cancel let alone talk to. This post was brought to the attention of the local Terminix. They called me to discuss the situation. Will see how the rest of the contract period goes. read more

My wife and I paid Terminix almost $5000 and when it is all said and done, we still have mice, the insulation they installed needs to be replaced, and the gutter guards clog so bad that the gutters still need to be cleaned frequently. Terminix performed a $1200 mouse exclusion that included putting down a couple poison traps and sealing up the outside of the house. Now 8 months later, we still have mice and we are being more successful killing them with some $2 traps from the hardware store. The insulation cost $2000 dollars and was supposed to include removal of all the old insulation and replacement with cellulose that is supposed to repel mice. From the pictures I attached, you can see that the old dark rock wool from when the house was built is still in place meaning they didn't remove the old before adding the new cellulose. They also made no attempt to completely cover the attic with insulation. From the photo you can see that the installer stood in one place and sprayed cellulose without moving around to be sure that the entire attic was covered. There were some loose boards up there that the previous homeowner must have used to walk around. Terminix just put insulation on top of the boards without even moving them. Now there is an air gap in between the old and new insulation resulting in warm air being allowed in between the layers of insulation. Our bedroom is now warmer than it was before adding the new insulation. There are also openings in the attic for pipes and other structures from lower floors that just have pink insulation stuffed into them. A basic exclusion for mice would put a physical barrier in these gaps to prevent the mice from freely moving around the house. We had an actual insulation expert come and look at the attic and his comment was "man, I feel bad for you guys. You really got screwed. Since none of the old insulation was pulled out before putting down the new cellulose, I'm going to have to pull all this out and start over." So not only did I get screwed by having to pay $2000 for improper insulation, I get to pay someone else to have it removed. I have contacted Terminix multiple times. Once about the water coming into our house from the ice dam that I got last winter because the insulation was insufficient. They claimed that it was an issue with the gutter guards, which they installed. Every time I have contacted them about the mice, they tell me that it will take time for them to die off. Maybe they will finally be gone by the time I retire. I contacted the service manager today and he told me that a refund isn't possible because I haven't given them the opportunity to correct the insulation. I just don't trust them to fix it. They did such an awful job the first time, I don't plan on letting them screw it up worse the second time. All I can say is don't let them scare you into doing a bunch of work at your house because you want to get rid of the mice quickly. read more

Same situation as reviews below, our previous pest control company was bought out by Terminix and that's where things started going downhill. I was informed that they are currently short staffed and there seems to be lots of communication errors/mis-scheduling on the management side. Plus, the hold time to get someone on the phone to speak with is quite the wait. On a positive note, the Inspector (Gunner) and tech (Scott) was extremely helpful in assisting with the reschedules and getting the job done. It took us about 3 different days worth of calling to finally get our tech out here. So if you have that kind of patience and flexibility, then Terminix is your company. read more

Do not use this pest control company! They seem to be the worst Terminix in the history of Terminixes - note their consistent one star ratings for years. I believe that companies should value loyalty of employees or customers. A technician complained to me that management has created a toxic work environment which impacted their attitude and livelihood. If employees are paid based on number of stops, and are overloaded on stops, this indicates value on quantity not quality. Be wary of service upsell because part of their pay is commission based. I would not be surprised if the branch eventually closed due to morale issues and customer dissatisfaction; I expect that's where they are heading. If I were you, I'd go with a reputable company elsewhere where employees are cared about and will care for you. read more

We engaged the services of Terminix after we experienced a few nests of wasps here and there making life a little uneasy especially after getting stung a few times. A young tech came out and got rid of the obvious nests but missed a few. Hence we still had the problem. We called him and left a few messages and called Terminix too. We never heard back from Terminix as their method of getting a hold of them was confusing and non-existent. We finally heard back from the tech who came out and got a few more nexts but not the main one in the attic, We told him about it but he said he couldn't go on the roof even though he had a ladder. We've called Terminix again today but still haven't gotten through and hoping this review will do the trick in getting someone out here who will clean out the wasps once and for all as we have almost become prisoners in our own house. A few days later we had another tech out. He sprayed from a can then left. The problem still exists. We called and have scheduled another tech to come out and hopefully finish the job everyone else just started. Once upon a time companies used to take pride in their work. Now it's just another pay check I guess. If this next time doesn't work, we'll be going with another company. 8/22 Haven't heard a thing from Terminix about a tech coming out today. We put on our suits and sprayed, but after paying Terminix to do a job, why do we have to do it. I would NOT recommend this company for any job anywhere. read more

They charged me twice. The last time they came I had spiders increase. I called for them to respray and the tech sent me a laughing response via text. I was to get a free home inspection with the renewal of my contract and my window was 8 - 10. Tech didn't call It was 10:45 and no tech. Diana the rep I called couldn't reschedule because there were no open dates within 30 days. I have to call back to reschedule. Her attitude was that this was a free service so I wouldn't be charged! I renewed for 2 years so I don't consider it free, it's part of the package. The first year was great, but since I renewed for an additional 2 years it has been HORRIBLE. We had squirrels and bats in our attic. We spent 12,000 to "seal" up the holes and clean up the mess/replace the insulation. We were promised that they would seal up any hole greater than the size of a pencil eraser. They left multiple areas of large holes (greater than the size of a fist) and squirrels were Still getting in the attic. Not only did they miss multiple spots, they "patched" over old wood with an ugly silver metal that is very tacky and does not match the house. It also is nailed to old wood so it is not a lasting fix. I had to call and tell them the house wasn't properly sealed and they found two other large areas that were missed (which means there has to be smaller areas that were missed, too). Terminix is, without a doubt, the worst company I have ever had to deal with. Our pest control company, Precise Pest Control got bought by Terminix and the service cannot be any poorer. We were in contract with Precise for a year and never had any trouble scheduling or re-scheduling appointments. However, ever since Terminix took over, it has been a struggle to speak to someone to schedule an appointment. Our initial appointment with them was scheduled for April 18th in the afternoon. They were a no show and when I called them, they said we would be receiving a call the following week for someone to re-schedule, as they were running late. Strike one- they should have had the courtesy of informing me that they will not be coming over. Needless to say, I never received a call from them. Be wary, the local operators at the Smithville office are very polite and very skilled at making sure they make you feel that they are helping. But 4 calls down, nothing to show for their empty promises. I called them on May 17th, when I spotted some bugs and a rat outside my house. A very polite lady said I am scheduled for them to come on May 29th, between 1-3 pm. This was brand new information to me, since no one had called to confirm this appointment with me since they were running late on the initial appointment scheduled for April 18th. I asked her if she could re-schedule for a sooner date. Her standard response was "I am unable to pull open the calendar for the local office, but someone will be reaching out to you on Monday". Never happened. They are never able to provide a phone number for this mysterious "local branch" nor are they able to pull up their calendar. I called them again during the week and was told someone would reach out to me from the local office as a work request had been put in. I waited the obligatory 24-48 hours for a call, but no one ever contacted me. I gave it one more shot May 22th, when I was informed that the previous work order request wasn't sent out to the local office and wasn't filled out completely either. This operator promised me that someone will definitely be reaching out to me in 24-48 hours. She said she had filled in the work request correctly. And now it was May 24th, but no call from Terminix. I call them yet again and a polite operator promises to escalate the issue with his supervisor and submit a work request. He says that on May 26th, someone will be reaching out to me by 10:00 am to confirm that someone will be stopping by on the same day between 5:00 to 7:00 pm. No surprise that it's 11:30 am and I have received no call. At my wits end, I call one more time, and am informed that I am currently scheduled for an appointment for May 29th and there are no more appointments available. I go through the process of explaining my situation for what seems like the hundredth time again, in less than 2 weeks. Finally, I tell her to transfer my call to someone who will help me end my contract with them and the lady places me on hold for and then disconnects the call. Save yourself the time, trouble and headache of contracting Terminix. My experience with them has been abysmal -I have never worked with a company that is so unorganized and fails to deliver on every promise. I will be calling again soon to end my contract with them. I would not recommend Terminix to anyone. It's not worth your time! read more

I cannot believe I actually asked this company to do a pest inspection! I knew they were going to find something and try to charge a fortune for nothing. We are trying to refinance and needed the inspection to move to closing. They found a tree in the backyard with carpenter ants and wanted to charge $250 to treat it (we found a quote 5 minutes later from another company for $110). Then, they found small termite damage that had been in our house before we moved in with no active termites (we haven't had active termites since we lived here) and wanted to charge us $1300 for treating that. We found a quote 5 minutes later for $9.75 per linear foot for that treatment and the spot is probably less than 1 linear foot. Terrible company and the terrible ratings continue to pile up. read more

Worst experience ever for home attic insulation work. Showed up in a rental truck with no equipment. Tech said truck and equipment had been stolen prior month. Rather than reschedule, they tried for 4 days to blow insulation with rental equipment. Took 3 months to get refund for work not performed. Office manager Jason promised numerous times to run credit after I filed dispute with credit card company and Better Business Bureau. Found a reputable company that did work in one day for half of what Terminix quoted. read more

I'm only giving them 1 star because it won't let me give them 0!! We had nothing but problems once Terminix bought out our original pest control company. They never de-webbed around the outside of the house, although they always claimed they did. The communication between their call center and the technicians was non-existent. Anytime we called for them to come out between quarterly services they would cancel multiple times and never ended up making it out until the next service was due. We saw more spiders and bugs while we were using Terminix than we did when we had no pest control service at all. It was impossible to talk to a local representative, we always ended up with a call center rep. The vast majority of people we talked to were very rude and not helpful at all. read more

Then I paid 800.00 for the remainder of my service. They continued to take monthly payments out of my account. I paid for and signed a year contract, then about six months into my contract the company I signed on with was bought by, you guessed it, TERMINIX, who then decided to start sending me bills. I called to cancel, they told me I was canceled and the next month I received yet another bill. I called back and they told me I was signed up for quarterly service. Umm, no, I signed up with a different company, pre-paid for a YEAR of service, which still had several months before my original year was up, and had no idea that Terminix had bought them out. They said, "well that's not the information we have". I still have my original signed agreement with 'Insight'. I'm now being told to call back at a different date, when a different person would be there that might be able to help me. Who knows when this mess will all be over. I wouldn't use Terminix even if the service was free! Don't believe me? Look no further than every other Terminix review on Yelp. Unfriendly, unhelpful, and uncooperative. These guys stink. We had one instance during the winter (snow on the ground) where they left us a bill stating they had been at the house when we weren't there to provide 'services'. No footprints in the snow indicate they hadn't even shown up. We repeatedly requested that they come when we were HOME to do internal work, and they keep scheduling when we are not home. November 2017 I received services from Terminix. I called and the woman offered me a quarterly service to which I declined. I asked for a one time spay for fleas and she said it had a 30, 60 or 90 guarantee (I cannot remember). About a month after I called back since we were still in the guaranteed amount of time and they sprayed again for free. I later received a random text stating someone was coming to spray my yard for the third time. I figured it was spam since I had not requested that. I later received a bill for $149 for services I did not sign up for. I called immediately and they said I was signed up for quarterly. I cancelled but they said I would still be charged for the third spray that I did not agree to. I talked to five different people and a few of which were extremely rude. The last woman I spoke with said I would receive information on if they were going to disregard this bill within a few days. After a few days I received an email stating that my contract was cancelled. Since that was the last information I heard I assumed that my bill was cleared up. I now am again receiving calls and emails from Terminix stating that I still owe them money. This process has been extremely unprofessional and the lack of follow up is ridiculous. I will be sure to never use Terminix again nor will I refer them to anyone looking. Worst experience I have ever had with a company. They clearly do not care about their customers. read more

Customer service is awful, stated preferences for late afternoon 3 times with the branch and then next appointment was always 8-10 am. Often received no notification of appointment so they were unable to perform half of the services. Paid for ultimate pest plan only to receive outdoor sprayings. Corporate apologized multiple times but nothing seemed to change. Techs were nice and polite when we were there but that only happened three times in a year. read more
