Update I have changed my satisfaction record with this company. I had bedbugs. They came out with a contractor company to do a heat treatment. The person that came out was not even at my house for seven hours. So the treatment was not effective. I still have bedbugs. I paid $4000 for a service that was not done correctly. Their inspector was supposed to come back out in a two hour window Never showed up. They want to send another company out to do it again. I have no extra storage in my modular home so I had to rent a storage unit. They want me to do it again and won't cover the charges this time. Not going to happen and saying that me moving stuff out of the house like I was instructed to is what is causing the bedbugs because those items weren't treated. But I was instructed to move those items out of the house so they are not damaged. Very unhappy with this company now $4000 down the drain. Do not use Orkin. They will not stand by their work. All over the website it says that there will be a follow up inspections for bedbugs never once was contacted. They only want to blame me for doing the prep work that they told me to do. read more

I called and scheduled early. I had an appointment booked for today at 4pm. They called at 2:50pm, can't do it and now moved to next Wednesday. I needed service today -- I could have arranged otherwise had I known way earlier. I guess the call service and local reps are not connected. Heads up for anyone else looking. Went to Orkin office (Lenexa) and explained my bug problem. Branch manager came to my home to investigate. In the next two months 3 technicians came to my house each one having no idea what what my problem was and all had never talked to the branch manager. One technician said he would contact the branch manager and call me back. I never heard from him. Over a month later the branch manager called and said he was out town but would call the follow week to schedule a visit to assess the issue. Never heard from him again. All technicians showed up with 30 minute notice - that's it. This was a big waste of my time and frustrating experience. read more

We recently decided to look into termite preventatives. We decided to obtain several quotes, one of which was from Orkin. The Orkin inspector showed up well before scheduled, which would have been fine if another pest control company was not scheduled around the same time. He literally showed up minutes after the other company's appointment. Despite being contacted for a termite preventative consultation only, he over inspected the house, including under the countertops in the kitchen. This is an abnormal area to search for termites. I thoroughly inspected the area (removed everything) after he left wondering what he was was possibly searching for there, because he clearly would have needed to remove tons of cleaning products and cookware to see what was actually going on in the area. . . Our house is about 1800 square feet. They quoted us for Termidor SC for 5 years at $4169.89. It includes an annual renewal that warranties the work. The initial treatment was going to cost $2485.31. This quote included drilling around the perimeter of the house as well as the entire perimeter of the inside of the garage through the inside of our family room. We don't have an active termite infestation, which means they didn't need to drill on the interior. They were just trying to upsell their services. They also quoted us for Sentricon bait stations. They cost was $1417.70 initially with an annual renewal fee of $328.42. Unlike their competitors that sell Terlona, they don't warranty with bait stations. He also tried to tell us not to use Termidor HE because it is an inferior product. It isn't inferior. I know several people who use HE, and HE was recommended by a couple of real estate agents we know. It has a completely different mechanism of dispersing through the soil than SC, verifiable on Termindor's website, which is why less is used and why drilling is 18 inches apart rather than 12 inches apart. SC is an older product as well. I'm guessing he told us this because of a competitor's card laying on our table. The competitor was in the house just before he arrived. His main selling point was the competitor using HE would use about 70 gallons of product while they would use almost 140 gallons due to drilling differences. He stated their product could last for up to 16 years but they wouldn't make any guarantees. Instead, they recommended retreating every 7 to 10 years. This isn't much different than HE which is 5 to 7 years. Orkin is completely overpriced. The inspector also tried to tell us that Orkin is the only company in the industry to use a flow meter on their trucks. This is blatantly false. It is an industry regulation to use flow meters. Honesty is a better way to attract business. Expect customers to fact check statements. When statements made in sales consultations are verifiably false, it will ruin the company's credibility. He left saying he would follow up with us the following week. He never called. We hired one of their competitors shortly after he left. Based on our initial experience, I would not recommend Orkin. We went with a competitor that charged $1100 for the first visit and has a warranty/inspection for $250 each year after. read more
