I reached out to Ale Maria to get several pairs of jeans hemmed because they were too long. She took the necessary measurements and provided the cost, which I happily accepted. She also provided a date that the work would be completed. The work was finished on-time and I visited her shop to pick them up. She had me try them all on again to ensure the length was correct, her work was fabulous!! Ale Maria is the ONLY alterations specialist I will use from here on out -- I'll let anyone who needs alterations know to visit her shop! She is AMAZING and VERY talented!! read more

Quality work, stunning detailing and educational. Maria showed me how to prep my daughter in her dress and to ensure inner layer is pulled down. Due to the sequence this dress was hand sewn and the details are amazing. Truly had a fairy godmother experience. My daughter felt seen and understood. read more

Service was fast, professional and so well done! Seamstress treated me so kindly and worked so hard to make my alterations just perfect!

Maria is a extremely talented lady. I've been going back here for alterations for over 15 years. Great attention to detail. My order is perfect every time. read more

I called last minute to get my pants altered and she was able to accommodate me without charging me an express fee that tailors usually charge. Will be returning now that I've found someone reliable and experienced that doesn't charge an arm and a leg. read more

She was professional and very helpful. She explained everything in detail. I should be visit again.

i have been to this alteration place few times before. i thought her prices was reasonable. Few weeks ago i came back to have a dress shortened. Dress altered to shorten was done well . She charges $25 dollars a yard. read more

Maria is great. Super quick turnaround and reasonable prices. She takes some time to explain to you different alteration methods. She's definitely well versed in this after 30 something years!! I had a jumpsuit that was too long and she helped me take the torso in over a 3 day period. When I wanted the jumpsuit slightly shorter, she waited for me to return to her store so we could get the waist to where I wanted (in about 15 Min). I am very impressed with her dedication to her clients and her speed. I'll definitely be bringing any other items I need altered to her! read more

I had a wedding to attend last minute so I came in to get the bottom of my silk dress trimmed (short people problems am I right!!) in hopes of adjusting it with a 3-day turnaround and Maria did not disappoint! Not only did she finish it in time, but she gave me exactly what I asked for. I paid $30 for the trim, which is more than reasonable considering the quality of her work. When we were chatting, she shared with me that she use to be a tailor for designer brands during fashion week so she's clearly more than capable of taking on even the most challenging pieces. Maria is so sweet, professional, and incredibly talented at her craft that it'd be foolish to go anywhere else. read more

Called to ask about services, off the bat they answer hello, not thank you for calling this business or anything so I ask is this the tailoring they reply oh yeah. Then I ask do you guys replace zippers on jackets? They reply " maybe". No thank you, very unprofessional from the start, I will definitely find someone else.. read more

I'm sure she's probably great but I couldn't pay $60 to get a dress hemmed. She told me she charges by the yard and this dress had 2 layers.

Maria was awful. I went in needing a hem on my wedding dress and besides her place being filthy, she has no manners. I put on my wedding dress and when I asked her to zip me up (I was really proud because I ordered my dress 2 sizes smaller and lost weight and it fits perfectly), she told me I "needed to lay off the French fries". I have never been so humiliated in my life. When I left telling her I was going to look around and compare prices she decided to mention it a second time before I walked out the door. I will never give her my business. read more

This lady is amazing! She hemmed and fixed my dress so fast!!!! She did a perfect job and the dress fit perfectly! She was so kind and accommodating to what I needed done! She is truly a sweetheart! It was amazing working with her and I can't wait to go back to get other clothes altered! read more

Maria did an amazing job on my bridesmaid dress! I was in a panic last minute when I found out my dress was still way too long with shoes. Maria was very efficient and had my dress hemmed perfectly in 3 days! Before and after pictures attached. read more

Such a caring and devoted lady! I will definitely be back for all future alterations!Thank you so much!

I called in when I tried on my bridesmaid dress two days before the wedding (hahaa!) and there was a terrible bone support thing on the one side of the bust, from the top to the bottom. It stuck out from under the fabric and looked so rediculous. She said to bring it right in and I live close so I was there in 10 minutes. She quickly removed the plastic piece for me, had me try it on, adjusted an awkward seam, re-sewed up the bust from the removal, and even cleaned up the little pieces of string getting in the way of the zipper working smoothly! I told her the dress was from David's Bridal and we had a little laugh about how sloppy they were in making the dress and how much I had to pay for it! It was done in about a half hour and my dress is perfect now! She only charged $20, but I didn't know it was cash only, so I had to run to an ATM, which was inconvenient. Otherwise, thank you for fixing my dress!! read more

Like many others I found Maria on Yelp and have nothing but good things to say. I had some beautiful high waisted tweed shorts that were just way too big for me. They were a lot of work as the zipper was on the side and they had double lining so they could not use a simple stitch in the waist. She practically created new shorts for me and did an inseam down the middle. They fit perfectly and you can't even tell they had work done. She did exact measurements. I was dying to bring them to paris with me but had less than a weeks time. But I brought them to her on a Thursday evening and she had them ready for me by Tuesday! She also did a quick patch on some jeans that had ripped in the crotch. It's a forever patch and feels like it's never going to rip again. Her work is absoloutely outstanding. I would definitely go back for more. And she's such a sweet, cute little lady. So glad I found her! read more

I needed to get some bathing suits altered before my upcoming vacation and Maria was kind enough to get it done with very short notice. She did a great job, she's very personable and sweet. Highly recommend visiting Maria for your alterations. read more

I have several events this year. So I brought Maria 4 formal dresses I was considering expecting to get price and time estimates as one wedding was coming up quick. Maria spent a lot of time with me giving me advice and ideas on how to shop for my problem areas and which dresses she felt were more or less flattering and why. I felt like I was getting advice from a trusted friend. She never rushed me, and in one case suggested I just find a size smaller. Prices were reasonable. read more

My pants came back amazing! They seams on one of pants had a certain look that I wanted. They came back exactly the same after I got them altered to be a little shorter! I'm very content with the quality of work provided by Ale Maria. I was a little taken back by the price...but the quality warrants it! read more

I was referred here by a friend and I was seriously not disappointed! Maria was so friendly and she worked with me to work a way to a less expensive price. She had warned me there may be a slight angle to the hem but I took my chances and there's no uneven angles, she made it look undetectable! She does everything herself and she does quality work. I am definitely coming back and referring her to anyone who needs tailoring! I'll attach a photo - the top right was the "before" and as you can see the extra material on the sides, and the surrounding pics are the "after"! read more

Maria was so sweet and amazing i had a dress for a wedding needing to be shorten and the clip on in the back to be fixed, she was fast and efficient and explained to me through the whole process. gave me a date pg when to pick it up, so easy and so quick, i was recommended by my sister where she also had her dress altered, i would definitely recommend maria to anyone read more

She charged way too much, very expensive. She did subpar work. The hem job on the scrubs were too short and all she could say was we told her short. When we asked her to fix them, she charged us to fix her mistake. She didn't take criticism well and didn't care if we were unhappy with her work. I do not recommend this place and I will not return for business. read more

I called in and spoke with Maria. I had a few questions and she refused to answer any of them with out being in front of her. I just wanted an estimation on the cost of hemming a few items. She refused and began yelling at me which resulted in her loss of a customer. I will not be interested in giving my money or business to this location read more

A brides wedding day should be exciting and meaningful and the days going towards that wedding day should still be a fun experience. I have never heard of a seamstress making a bride cry. Needless to say I have a beautiful friend and bride who had the worst experience. She was told her dress was ugly and she needed to slender down. I sew and in my opinion the dress was perfect just needed a few little whip stitches in the right places. I hope you reconsider taking anything here. No one should ever be shamed or feel horrible. If I could give 0 stars I would. read more

Came in with two vintage suits that needed repairs made to them and was fully ready and willing to pay for the repairs needed. As soon as I brought them in and showed them to her, she knew everything there was to know about the material, condition, trend era, etc. of both suits I brought in. After showing the holes to her, she told me she would make the repairs but that they likely would not hold up due to the condition both suits were in. She had every opportunity to take my money but instead was honest and gave me recommendations for stores to buy more modern suits that would hold up better. If you want the complete honest truth from someone who knows their craft inside and out, come to Ale Maria's. She 100% deserves your business. Was very quick to respond and attentive. Thanks:) read more

ATTENTION MEN: Maria is a professional tailor, not a part time sewer in a dry cleaners. She works for herself and her abilities are her calling card. I was a first time client and read all Yelp reviews. Maria's reviews just hit me as being a good bet.Roll the dice. I drove 35 minutes from West Surprise and am so pleased with her, her abilities, her knowledge and her customer service. Here is what Maria accomplished: reduce slim fit Perry Ellis suit pants down from a 40" waist to 35". You'd never know that they were tailored! When she measured me Maria explained exactly what needed to be considered when taking-in pants to such a degree. This suit was expensive but she gave me assurance that her abilities would meet my expectations. And she sure did. My highest recommendation. Maria is now my go-to . read more

I brought in a few items that were not the most cost efficient way for me to go about getting my clothes fitted. She gave me great advice even if it meant that she would lose money by doing so. Most respect for her as a person period. read more

I wish I could give her 10 stars! She was actually interested in educating me on how a coat, pants, etc should fit! Once she taught me all this I brought her a pair of slacks and a coat to tailor, she did an amazing job with both using a minimalist focus to save me money. Can you think of another place that goes out of their way to teach their customers and help them save money?! She is amazing and I was in and out of her store about 5 times in a couple days needing education on how clothes should fit and she was chipper and kind every time! She is also a huge believer in good karma and demonstrates this through her own good actions. Amazing and I totally recommend! read more

Not impressed. I went in to have two pairs of pants hemmed. My wife (who DOES know how to sew but is too busy working to sew these for me) pinned the pants at the correct length. The lady at Ale Maria's basically refused to sew them because she didn't want to chance that the hem would be wrong. I agreed that I would even sign a waiver so she could get started, but no. So, now I have to find another tailor/alteration shop to do my work. Update: I took my pants to Kim's Custom Tailor Etc 7023 N Litchfield Rd Glendale, AZ 85307. My pants were done in two days and they are perfect! Thank you Ale Maria's for turning me down. I found a place closer to my house that does great work! read more

I found Maria on the Yelp site and I am so, so happy I did (thanks to all the reviewers!). I've been in AZ two years and had yet to find a seamstress, and Maria is wonderful. I have a floor length black gown for a black tie wedding in Newport, RI next month and being 5 feet tall (on a good day!), nothing ever fits properly in the dress department. I got lucky ordering it online but it needed inches off of the bottom and the top straps fitted. I found Maria on here and called to make an appointment. She told me to come in during business hours and she would take care of me. So I made no official appointment. I had gotten a rough estimate of what alterations would be elsewhere, and the prices were up there. I went in and met Maria, and felt comfortable right away. Very warm and welcoming. She measured quickly, but very precisely. I could tell this woman takes great pride in her work. The prices aren't "cheap", but they were nowhere near what I would've paid elsewhere, and her work is flawless. I got more than what I paid for. My dress fits like a glove-- better than my own wedding dress or any bridesmaid dress I've ever had. I cannot recommend this shop enough and will be back within the week with pants, a suit, etc! PS- I needed my dress a month out and I was worried about that timeframe! I saw she had many things in there to do, and when she asked when I needed it, I told her to take a few weeks no rush. She had it done within days, and it probably would've been sooner had I asked. She only takes cash, so that's something to remember when you go (you should!), and obviously, I'd give this business ten stars if I could. read more

My experience was just like everyone else's; fantastic! I came in around 10am needing for my husband's pants to be hemmed up and I needed it to be done same day. No questions asked she did it. She was so focused on quality and gave me a couple of "warnings" about hemming pants without my husband being there for her to measure. I sincerely appreciated this and decided to take the chance anyway. She did an wonderful job and was very reasonable. She runs a great shop and if you are needing any type of tailoring or alteration, you need to go see Maria. read more
