I hired Chris to install 8 windows in my Eagle Rock home back in 2012 and he did an amazing job. The install was completed in a single day and he left the house spotless! He beat all other bids and I was very happy with the Milgard Tuscany windows. He is precise and professional. Once again, I am in need of new windows, this time for my Sherman Oaks home. He replaced 13 windows and converted a bedroom french door to a new sliding door. He completed this big job in just two days! I went with Pacifica windows this time around, and I am very pleased! These windows are simply beautiful, and are easy to either move up/down, or side to side. They look awesome and I could not be happier. Again, Chris delivers and does not disappoint. BEWARE guys. Chris came out to measure the windows, and said he would email the quote the next day. A couple days passed and no quote. I tried calling Chris, but it went to voice mail. Left message, but no return call. A week passed by, and still no quote or return call. I tried reaching out to Chris numerous times over the next three to four days, but only kept getting his voice mail. After leaving several voice mails and no return call, it was quite apparent Chris was not interested in replacing 13 windows in my home. Believe me guys, BEWARE of Chris. Buyer beware. This guy is shady. He is a one man shop. Always pay attention of the bad reviews when researching. It's more important to know the bad reviews compared to the good reviews. read more

I originally found Chris at Alta Sierra Windows on Angie's List 3 years ago and have used him to replace windows on both of the homes I've owned. He does excellent work and his price has consistently beat any other quotes I've received. He works alone and isn't employed by a window manufacturer so you can pick any window you want and he gets them at a really good price and installs them for you. read more

Chris is a gentleman and a very cordial fellow. Though he wasn't always prompt in replying to us, he always would eventually get back to us and installed all new windows throughout our house. Unfortunately, they didn't survive the first rainstorm of the season last winter. And Chris went from responding to us every day or two to not responding at all, when we had leaks, gaps and other issues with the newly installed milgard windows. I hate to give him a poor review because he is such a nice guy, but my husband spent all of Thursday putting tarps over our windows that Chris poorly installed so I think I need to post the review. read more

The job was the first half of March 2019 for a 35 year old, 28 unit/three 2 and 3 story buildings, multi-million dollar townhouse complex with 180 windows located in Pasadena, California/trendy Playhouse District. I am the current as well as prior/numerous years association Board president, consequently I have had many experiences with contractors. And, Christopher Coyle, the owner of the company, is the most competent, reasonable, professional, and most fair of them all! Therefore, I highly recommend using Alta Sierra Windows. 3 Examples: 1) During the entire installation, Chris as the company boss was always at the job site because he and his assistant were actually doing all the work - doing the "heavy lifting" of removing the old and installing the new windows. He takes direct/personal responsibility for the work - taking great pride in the workmanship. 2) The job was considered "retro-fit' where the old window frames are covered over with "inserted" new windows - a lot less labor intensive, so less costly. But, Chris thought the new "beefer"/thicker frames would look inappropriate for the modern/open/cleaner/lighter "look" that was desired. So he stuck with his original retro-fit bid and actually took out much of the old frame to put in the new narrower/thin framed windows. He used his expertise to maximize the best results regardless that he himself had to put more effort into the job. 3) As association president, I have to deal with 27 other homeowners and their particular interests over many years. So during the installation I really expected to have to deal with daily/numerous complaints about Chris and his work. I only got one - tiny shower window on 3rd floor was not frosted like before. Wow - did I hit the jackpot - the ease with which the job was accomplished with Chris in charge. And do I personally ever look like I know what I am going as board president - Chris makes me and the complex look great! If you want a really professional window contractor - who is really a nice guy, then without hesitation, hire Christ Coyle at Alta Sierra Windows! This review is a longtime coming. Chris did our windows last fall...and winter. That's not a mistake, the autumn leaves fell and winter came (as much as it ever does here) before our windows were done. Chris from Alta Sierra did such a good sales job that we went with him on the spot - our entire family loved him! He told us when he issued the contract that in order to get us scheduled, we'd have to pay a sizable deposit - it was impossible to add us to his schedule until we'd paid the deposit. No issue, we paid the deposit. The glass, he told us next, that was the issue. Darn those Milgard manufacturers, everything takes longer than you think they will. He is scheduling us, but it wouldn't be for 6 weeks. Ok. Not great, not what we were hoping for, but we had things locked in on the calendar, we had time planned to be off work, we were ready. The week of the planned installation rolls around. It is tragedy every day. On day one Chris twists his knee (emails us to let us know mid-afternoon, after ignoring a variety of calls and emails from us all day asking where he is). But day two, he promises he will be there even if he has to take a boatload of painkillers. On day two, there is an equipment malfunction. Again, doesn't show up, just tells us he has an issue with the truck and it is at a mechanic. At day three, he tells us he threw out his back at the job he was at on day two. We said "You were on a job yesterday? We thought you were at the mechanic!" Chris responded "...yeah." On day four, Chris shows up with a buddy, they work for 2 hours and leave without finishing anything. He tells me his "buddy" was some guy he found on craigslist but he's sure he can do his job. On day five, Chris is working on the second story of our house. Hooray! He's there, he's working, all is well? He takes a phone call 30 minutes into the job and has to leave. Sorry, family emergency. We reschedule for the following week during which Chris finishes one solitary window, leaving everything else unfinished. For the following month, Chris pops in and out, arriving unexpectedly and with no warning and working for 20 minutes then leaving. You'd think we were his side gig, but we had him replace all of the windows on our second floor and several windows on our ground floor. We try to insist that we need the work done - he'd promised it would be done by October, and here it was November and the work was still not done. Chris repeatedly promised to show up and then ghosted on us, with a variety of increasingly implausible excuses. He ignored most of our messages and was cranky with others, insisting that he had NOT promised he would show up on Day 52, and then reluctantly acquiescing when I showed him the emails where he specifically said "Come heck or high water I promise I will be there Day 52 and finish your job". I felt like I had a part time job managing Chris by the time our window ordeal was through. Luckily as a SAH spouse I had the flexibility to do so - my husband had to just grind his teeth from work. 6 months after install, we're happy with our windows. We've had a few issues, which (no surprise) Chris has not been helpful with, but Milgard has been great with warrantee repairs. And I wouldn't inflict Chris and Alta Sierra on anyone else. I called and spoke to Chris at Alta Sierra on Monday 09/16/2019 and YES, we DID set an appointment for Wednesday 09/18/2018 at 5:00 PM. He NEVER told me he doesn't do single window replacements. He told me he would do the job for about $400 and I got excited. I was excited because he mentioned something that sounded cool about bending metal to go over the wood frame to make it maintenance free. I left work early to get home by 5:00 PM and waited for him. Chris replaced the windows for our neighbor and our neighbor was so happy with him and his work that we called him right away to replace all our windows. Chris couldn't be nicer or more professional. He helped us choose the right windows and didn't try to upsell us, even when we were considering a more expensive product. Our order was filled quickly and Chris was out the next day, on a Saturday, to replace our windows. He worked hard and fast and cleaned up very well after himself. I hired Chris back in 2011 and again in 2012 to replace windows on investment properties i had purchased. First time i found Chris i took a few quotes for the windows being replaced, and at the time he was the lowest quote, so i gave him a chance. I'm definitely convinced that not only was he the lowest quote, but he was the best person i could have hired for the job. Outstanding craftsmanship and attention to detail is what i received from Chris. Windows came out so good, i hired him again in 2012 with no hesitation and without even looking at other bids. I already knew what i was getting with Chris, and that was honest pricing with excellent skills at his craft. 6 and 7 years later windows have not had a problem, so i stand by his work. I recently had to get a hold of Chris for a different property that i had an issue with the city. Without getting into too much detail, Chris went out of his way to get the appropriate permits needed to fix my problem with the city. We ordered 10 Milgard windows from Chris and right from the beginning he was quick to respond to all my emails and questions. He was very knowledgeable and did a great job installing them and fixing up the areas around the windows so they looked great. He was neat and worked hard to get our windows installed in a timely manner. He even helped fix some wood issues that were needed to get our new window treatments to fit properly.
