I've worked with Juan and Sunset Glass for years on multiple projects and even referred them to family and friends because the work was always solid and punctual in the past. Unfortunately, my most recent experience was very disappointing. I hired them to re-caulk my bathroom tub and tile. The appointment was cancelled twice, and when the technician finally came, he showed up more than 2 hours late. This caused me to lose work time. When I brought it up, I was told it was because I hadn't sent the address after a cancellation, which doesn't make sense since they'd already been to my home before. Instead of owning the mistake, the blame was put on me -- despite my years of loyalty and clear communication. It's disappointing to see this lack of accountability. While I wish them well, they've lost a longtime customer and, sadly, don't seem to value the business or referrals I've sent their way over the years. read more

Update 6/22/2020 My shower door started to leak almost 10 months after installation. I contacted Ivan and right away he replied the shower door needs to be readjusted and said he will come and fix it. Unlike other vendors, he didn't try to shift responsibility, he didn't list me as his least priority just because he has other new customers; in fact when I texted him about the leak it was just around the time the riot started and he's busy going everywhere repairing broken glasses. He still managed to have his team member to come out and fix my problem. Two hours later my shower door is water leak free again!! You will have a peace of mind when you choose Ivan! -------------------------------------- Original review 9/2019 I remodeled my bathroom and I needed to find a glass shower door and encasement. My contractor told me to get it from a vendor which the estimate was $3500!! I said no and I started looking for other quotes. I came to Ivan and he quoted me a much affordable price. He came and installed it in about half of the day. During the process I asked him if the shower door by any chance has the possibility of water leaking as I have heard from my friends that the glass shower door will leak in one way or another. Ivan said no and he said his labor comes with 10 years warranty. That means if the water leak at anytime during the 10 years after he completed his job, it will still be under warranty. I was sold and he installed the product. About three days after the glass door and encasement we started to notice leaking from the shower door. It was leaking from the bottom. Our dog had put his paw through a pane of our front door and we had two small windows with cracks that also needed replacing. Ivan had me text him some pictures of the windows and gave me an estimate within 5 minutes. His estimate was very reasonable and after accepting it, he scheduled to come out within a day. Response to Owners response to my review. The current Covid crisis did not stop you from working as is evident by the fact that you were still meeting with homeowners to provide estimates. And given the fact that you were still working, there is no excuse not to return a call within say 24 hours, correct? I can see one mistake, but almost every time you failed to respond to my requests. You also promised to get me an estimate and didn't until a week later and TWO requests by me to act. Who are you kidding? You even lost my email address and had to call me again for it. Then 20k for the work. I found someone for 8k who is licensed, fully insured, and has plenty of experience. Kind of hard to justify a 20k estimate when someone beats you by 120%. And they stand behind their work. So no, I provided the copy of messages. Theres nothing to argue when the pics are provided. Maybe in the future, you will show greater respect for your customers. This is all true and documented. I called Ivan at Sunset Glass to get a quote on replacing skylight glass. After a few initial exchanges, as I as defining my project and schedule, I reached out to Ivan ready to get an estimate. Starting on Jan 31st, I reached out to ask Ivan if he had time to meet. No response. No worries, I started working on other remodel items. Then again on July 1st, I reached to again and stated that I needed my skylight glass replaced. No. response again. Then agin on July third with no response. I called as well and got a VM. Finally I got a call on what I believe was the 6th of July. Finally. We scheduled an on-site inspection for the next day. Almost a week later, on a Monday, I still hadn't received the estimate that I was promised so I sent Ivan a message asking for the estimate and a measurement. Heard nothing back until two days later on Wed when he asked for my email and sent me an estimate for an even 20k. Note that I had given up waiting for him after multiple lies so I got another estimate for 8k. I told Ivan he was too late, unprofessional, wasted my time, and extremely overpriced. In fact, his estimate description was only a few lines and very vague and nondescript, no measurements or specific details provided. The 20k seemed like an arbitrary and very ambitious number not based I suspect on any measured rate, but just perhaps because the home is very large and high-end. If a guy can't treat potential new customers or their time with respect, if he breaks his promises over and over, communicates terribly, and is grossly overpriced, then shame on me if I use his services. Maybe others have had better experiences. Im not here to comment on those but just to share my experiences. Good luck either way. read more

I call the number listed on YELP (626-297-1403) and then the guy who answers tells me he can't help me because he is in Beverly hills..... he tells me to call his dad at another number and the gentleman who answered the phone just seems confused. I try to explain to him my issue and he then gives me a quote of $125. But then he asks me to take some pictures of the shower door and send them to him and he will get back to me. I'm confused because he already quoted me, why does he need pictures and to get back to me? I ask this and the line just goes dead. Oh my god what a terrible customer service. I asked for a quote and the guy that speaks half English and Spanish asked me to text him the size window I need to get a quote. Then he texted me back with the price. Then I asked him what series window I would be getting and he said "the vinyl one you want". How on earth does he know what I want if I have NEVER seen the window he is selling me??? He only sent me a link to the window manufacturer and told me to look for there, but to look FOR WHAT??? There are a bunch of different models and I'm supposed to GUESS which window I will be getting? I don't know anything about windows and this guy is the Sunset Glass sales representative and he is supposed to guide me and show me what I would be getting, not to mention ask me which design I want. BEWARE! The father son team of Juan and Ivan are excellent. But they also contract work out to their family members who work under the name of "Diego's Glass." Having seen Juan's work I trusted that when I contacted them for my shower door I would get the same quality work. Instead, I got the subcontracted company who installed a shower door that 1. Did not fit properly (although it was custom ordered), 2. Since it didnt fit, they hacked off the top and bottom molding to make it fit, 3. Left Silicone all over the place, 4. Installed the clamps with the plastic liners misaligned and sticking out, 5. Installed the pieces crooked so they were angled all over the place barely touching at times, and to top it off, neither Juan(Sunset who I contacted in the first place), nor his brother will answer the phone. The best part is, they installed it so far off the mark, I will likely have to have my freshly redone bathroom tiles replaced in places where they missed the mark. Also they don't tell you they are not "Sunset Glass" until it is time to write the check. Oh, and if they say they will be back tomorrow at 9am, that means 1 or 2 days later at a time somewhere within a few hours of them saying they are on their way. Don't call their number listed on the receipt either, it is disconnected, and I imagine I might not be the only customer complaining, because when you call their cell phone, the voice mailbox is full. i do not ever want to leave a negative review however after repeatedly trying to resolve the service that was not fixed correctly which was window install with exterior stucco work where windows go. this was not correctly installed with some sloppy issues. ... I was then told i had to pay more money they needed more money. . No problem i paid more because they promised to fix the job. now its several weeks later i have a big lump in wall and paint thinned and chipped if they couldn't do the job- no problem but promised it would be corrected. The owner doesn't want to take responsibility this is what is most upsetting he is rude hangs up and says constantly " hes not responsible that his team agreed to fix the wall" and states " I only do glass. ...he's very rude stating he never did the job. what?? you sent two guys who came gave a bid and then upped the bid after working now stating they don't want to fix what they started. i just want the job fixed. the sad thing is they now are losing all the extra windows i'm installing in whole house but its best i go elsewhere or they may up the price then fail to fix it then say they aren't responsible. the guy who use to run this place was amazing the new guy is not I'm sorry but very unprofessional!!! read more
