Researched for a pair of Teva slip on shoes and it was marked down 45%. Placed the order and my credit card was accepted, but with in minutes they rejected my order and got a email that said. "Your order was canceled due to security checks in place to protect your account. If you believe this was an error, please contact our team for assistance." I contacted their support team and was told their third party security software flagged me and rejects the order. I was told I could use another email address and credit card and that may fix the problem. I find this issue to be potentially very troubling as my credit record is over 800 and no recent exposures on my credit records. At this point I'll be tracking my credit card to see when and if the credit comes back on the account. With the number of complaints being high with Al's Sporting Goods I'm looking at potential Credit Card fraud. read more

This review is long overdue, but if I could give Al's Sporting Goods five stars for every great experience I've had, they'd have well over 200 by now. I have never had a bad visit. Prices are consistently better than anywhere else, the bike shop offers affordable maintenance and sometimes doesn't even charge for quick fixes, and I've rented skis with zero issues. The staff in the fishing department clearly know what they're doing, and the overall service is excellent. While the bike shop selection isn't the largest, they are always helpful and will steer you in the right direction. My only real complaint is that the VIP or rewards system isn't very clear about how to earn. Still, this is hands-down the greatest sporting goods store I've ever been to. read more

I called customer service and they confirmed that the photos were, in fact incorrect, and that this was their mistake. My boyfriend and I decided to make a random stop to kill time before tandoori opened for dinner. We were shopping and he found a bucked up energy shot and was excited to try a new product from them. He grabbed it and we went to look at guns. We have been looking at getting me a gun for awhile since I just turned 21 and want to get my concealed. He was having fun explaining gun things to me and I was just happy to be there and listen to what he had to say :). I guess in picking up and looking at guns, he put the energy shot in the pocket of his hoodie so he could have both hands available. A while later we go to leave, and the alarm goes off. He instantly realized he had the energy shot (it was literally less than $2) and went up to the register to pay for it. COMPLETE honest mistake. He has never stolen anything in his life, and is seriously the most honest person alive. The cashier makes a joke and he laughs and said "it's only $2 I really don't need to steal it." He gives his rewards #, we pay, and leave. We get a call during dinner but he doesn't answer (because we are at dinner). He got a voicemail from "Josh" the general manager. Josh said my bf needs to call him back ASAP regarding an "incident" we had a Al's. We call him back ASAP, only to get scolded and threatened over the phone. Threatened to call the cops, and all this crap. My bf is promptly apologizing and still getting yelled at. Josh says, "I am trying to think of ANY reason NOT to call the cops right now." I was SHOCKED. My bf and I have both worked in retail for YEARS and I have never spoken to a customer that way. Josh went out of his way to call us, just to threaten and yell at us for an HONEST mistake. It was a $2 item, and he DID PAY FOR IT. BUYER BEWARE!!! I would give 0-stars if possible. Bought some team t-shirts for our little league as "genuine merchandise" and received clearly counterfeit goods that were badly screen printed and not even close to the quality MLB/Majestic represents. When I called and mentioned that the shirts were clearly fake, I was given the runaround and told that they are a licensed Majestic provider, yada yada yada, and that it must have been something wrong with their vendor, etc. I tried to give my business to what I thought was an upstanding, legitimate, online business with brick-and-mortar locations, rather than buying thru Amazon which is known for counterfeit items, but turns out this business was just as willing to provide fake merchandise as all those other terrible sellers. I should have taken a look at the reviews over on Reseller Ratings (https://www.resellerratings.com/store/Al_s_Sporting_Goods) to know that this place is not worth supporting. If you're buying online, buy somewhere else. In-person may be different, but somehow I doubt it. As you can see from the photos, they are not even good fakes. The tags do not resemble Authentic MLB tags (with holograms, registered TM listed, tags in correct place, etc.). There is a good website called the Coalition to Advance the Protection of Sports Logos (CAPS) which will show you easy ways to detect counterfeit merchandise, and as you will see if you visit, the shirts I was sent don't even include the "good" fake items, like incorrect holograms or printed tags that most of the better counterfeit items have. These are simply low-cost, knock-offs, that I'd be willing to bet were printed at the store (and poorly, thereby justifying the website cost discount). I have include a photo showing As for the quality, you can see that they are not even screen printed correctly, the logo is clearly skewed and not even close to straight. This used to be a great place for all sporting goods. Lately it has become a politically correct tribute to woke culture. Sure they have a great selection of hunting gear and firearms. They also used to carry a great deal of ammunition for hunters and recreational shooters but they now refuse to show a single firearm or box of ammo on their website. Guess they're afraid to traumatize folks online with a picture of a shotgun. Can't let snowflakes see a box of .22 shells. They have no problem taking your money and selling you a gun, they just don't want the online world to know they're commiting such reprehensible acts of commerce. Why are they so ashamed of their goods they won't list them on their website? I first walked into Al's on Center St. 48 yrs. ago and was amazed at the variety and quality they offered at fair prices. Moreover the level of service was exceptional, you were greeted as an old friend and felt like you were getting great value. Sadly that level of service has vanished in recent years. They still carry a huge variety of goods, but finding a person willing to answer a question is difficult, the prices in general are higher than other area stores and service is next to nil. I bet that Al Larsen is looking down from his eternal reward with sadness and disappointment that his life's work has evolved the way it has. I love this place!!!! The bike repair shop is what I'm not pleased with. They are shady please don't get had like I did. I called last Saturday and talked with a repair TM about bleeding some brakes. He was kind and walked me through the process still was not working he scheduled a service appointment.( he was great). Then I come in on Monday for appointment they said they were Un sure on how to bleed my brakes. Then proceed to tell me my back brakes are bad so I said yes please replace them thanks. I waited and waited did not get my bike until 9:11pm after closing. Found out they added front brakes to the bill with out asked before replacing. I'm not going to name names but just be careful with that TM that works on the bikes. Will be speaking with manger Zach about this matter. read more

After their review Al's determined that the shoes were "in like new" condition. I would send them back but they are going to charge me $10 to return shoes that were obviously worn. I called the store to have it rectified and was told they could not do it that I needed to call customer service. I called a separate number for customer service and was told that an agent was not available to call back during business hours Monday through Friday from 9 to 9 and then disconnected I have called six times with no response it is within the 9 to 9 timeframe. On a separate occasion when I was looking for ammunition I called three different times and was told ammunition was available when I went into the store they said sorry we haven't had that ammunition for months.
