So my car has been in paint jail since October of 2022. I was expecting to have the car back early spring 2023. I didn't track the car all of 2023 and most of 2024 after repeated missed deadlines. Several parts were lost and damaged. They said they'd replace these parts, and have now stopped responding. Body line was initially completely rounded over. It was built back up but edges still dont quite look right. Overspray on the interior, headlights, other body panels. Poor finish quality with tons of craters. Clear coat already failing. Bad dyeback. Poor headlight and tail light alignment. When I brought this up, they said they'd fix it, but then later blamed the car - however, I was able to easily correct fitment with no body tech experience. Missing hardware and clips - the bumper cover was flapping around and the license plate lamp was INSIDE the bumper cover. They said they'd replace the missing and incorrect hardware and didn't - instead citing that they don't use this hardware. Splitter and headlight brackets left loose. My splitter fell off on the way home. I had been trying to work with the shop to resolve issues and missing parts, but the communication has been non-existent. Who wants to see more from this "reputable" shop? Before we get hung up on the color match - I get it. It'll never be perfect. But it's a garage kept car and the paint was always well cared for. Berlina black is a non-metallic black. I know we can do better than that since the bumper I rattlecanned outside on a windy day matches better than the fenders do. read more

God knows I wish I would have seen the previous review related to this business. I was in an accident on 1/30/25, and my car has been WAITING for him to repair it. He received the funds from the insurance company on 2/4/25 and hasn't done a single, solitary thing. But I will bet odds that he had NO problem cashing that check. I used him in the past, but it was never like this. Promised the car in 20 days; 49 business days later, still no car. A bunch of promises and lies. Please do not bring your vehicle to this establishment. You will be disappointed. read more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! If I could leave a zero star review I would. After several endorsements to use them for some custom sheet metal body work (fender flares) I dropped the car off with an agreement for frequent updates on the project with a set schedule and a "not to exceed" budget. Not only did they miss the schedule by 4x+ (car was with them for 2 years, 2.5 months before I had to repo it), but they consistently lied about progress and intent, ignored documented requests for changes or how to proceed, blackmailed me out of posting negative social media reviews while they had my car and seemed not show any care or respect for my time, wishes or money. The car was recovered incomplete, undriveable, and with several thousand dollars worth of damage outside the scope of the project's terms. The head gasket was blown while in their possession, and I did not get all of my money back Fixing the work they provided and repair damages will likely be a 5-figure adventure.. read more

"Do you want it done right? Or done right now?" - Rich Well, by choosing this shop you can get the worst of both! Not only will a 10 day job take a month long, it actually won't! You'll wait month after month until 8 months have gone by and you wonder how in the world it took this long. You can try all you want to help source the parts you're willing to pay extra for, or just in general, but if it's not coming from his distribution center, you're not getting it. Don't try buying your own parts and asking for the money back, you'll never see it! Wish I could recommend this place as Rich seems like a great guy outside of the business relationship. Hopefully we will get reimbursed the thousands we had to spend taking it elsewhere to actually get it done right the first time. He sent a bill to State Farm and he got paid on 01/31 without any repairs done to my car. My liftgate, tail lights and bumper were busted. Every week I call the owner and he gave me the same excuses. I finally had it when I called the shop and his employee told me they have not even started on the repairs yet and it was the 71st day! I've been complaining to State Farm claims that they should have done something and not sat on it. So finally I went to State Farm in St. John on 03/31 and asked my agent to call State Farm Corporate and Gerber Collision cedar Lake. As of today, 04/08 (79 days total) State Farm towed my car to Gerber. Gerber already called me to state the progress. DO NOT GO TO AL'S Body experts. They'll keep your car and money without fixing your car. Oh btw I complained to BBB and Indiana DA about this as well. It was a nightmare. read more

Both times, the work was professionally completed, and I found the shop's owner proactive in their communication when parts were delayed, etc. Pricing was competitive compared to the other estimates I received. It took me a while to write this, but the hours it took me to get all the overspray off my truck and the other issues I believe warrant this review. I had originally started searching for a place to replace my cab corners on my truck as they had started to rust. I try very hard to keep my truck nice so when this happened I wanted to take it somewhere that would take the time and do the job right. This place was recommended to be by someone who had did paint work for me before as well as a friend of mine. They were pretty comparable to the other shops I went to, and with the recommendations I decided to take my truck in and have the cab corners replaced. I went in and talked to the staff that seemed friendly and knowledgeable. I set up the appointment to drop my truck off on June 3rd and was told it would take about two weeks for the job to replace both cab corners. From there is where things started to go downhill. Around the two week mark I called for an update to see how it was going. They failed to call and tell me that they were having issues getting the actual cab corners. I was told that they should probably have the parts by the next day and again was told about another two weeks for the work to be done. I wasn't happy that I was without my truck still for another two weeks, but I said ok. In hindsight I should of just went and got my truck and went somewhere else. Anyway the day comes and I am called and told my truck was done, I told them I would be there after work to pick it up. It was raining that day, I looked it over the best I could, I didn't see anything out of the ordinary but, I figured the next day it would be dry I could look it over better. I paid my bill of $2626.00 of which they took off $400.00, which I did appreciate and headed home. The next day I went outside to take a look at my truck. I found that when they removed the bed the bolts were rusty and the dust that came from the bed bolts breaking stained my bed liner, and the cab corners that were just replaced had scratches on them. Appalled I immediately called them. I was told to bring it back so that they could see what happened. Upon arrival they came out to see what I was talking about. They said the scratches probably came from the bed hitting them when re attaching it. They said I would need to drop my truck off and they would need it for another day or two to fix that and they would also try and clean up the rust stains in the bed. I wanted it fixed right. I needed my truck that weekend so I agreed to drop it off the following week so that everything would be fixed correctly. They had my truck for about a day and a half before I could pick it up. They fixed the scratches on the cab corners, but some of the rust staining remained on the bed liner. I was told it would be about thirty days before I could apply wax so that the paint would be fully cured. I washed the truck and began looking it over. I noticed especially the bed was covered in over spray. I mean the paint felt extremely rough to the touch. There was an odd scratch on the rear bumper also on the upper part of the cab there were odd scratches that I know for a fact weren't there. Both I assume came from when the bed was put back on the truck. Disappointed at this point I put off removing the over spray and waxing the truck until I had more time. I would have called a third time, but figured what's the point. I feel my truck came back in worse condition than when I dropped it off. I should of went somewhere else. Somewhere that would have taken the time and care to ensure everything was done properly and that I would get my truck back in the same condition if not better than when I dropped it off. I won't go back here and have told many of my car friends not to go here as well. I urge you to think twice before going here and having them do work on your car or truck. read more

How has this place flown under the radar? I was in accident a few weeks ago and this place was recommended by the insurance company, was close to my house, and had a drop box. They gave me a promise date and had the car ready WAY before then, I'm talking I dropped the car off and signed to release it on Wednesday and I got the car on Friday, WOW. To top it off, I was only available before hours at 7 and Eric said he would be there to let me get my car. It was flawless, it looked better than before to be honest. HIGHLY RECOMMEND, I would even tell people to go out of their way to come here, it is truly worth it! read more

I am posting my experience with this company to warn anyone who is considering taking their car to them. I took my car in to have the molding replaced on the windshield in order to do this they needed to remove the clips in the process they busted my windshield. They are not taking responsibility for this and said they would give me the windshield at cost. Which their at cost price is $400 quotes from gerber $279 Safelite $294 and Glass America $259. I cannot recommend this place enough! I was travelling home from a trip and was still at least 70 miles from home when a deer ran in front of my car. Given the distance, this could have been a logistical nightmare, but Rich and Eric were a dream to work with. They fixed the car well, had it finished early and had no problem with me waiting to pick it up on the weekend so that I didn't have to take off work. Plus, their cost was FAR less than what it would have been here at home (Chicago area). The car looks beautiful and runs 100%. Although the work performed at the shop was done satisfactorily, its very obvious that customer service is of little importance to this business. My husband and I dropped our vehicle off at opening on Thursday morning. The owner of the shop informed us that our vehicle would be ready 'no later than Saturday' and we instructed him to leave it parked in the front parking lot and that we would pick up our keys the following Monday. Given the fact that we were told it would only be two days for the return of our vehicle, we did not opt for a rental. On Saturday evening we returned to the shop to retrieve our vehicle only to discover it wasn't there. The shop was closed, but we had a personal phone number of the owner and called in an attempt to locate our vehicle. The call went unanswered and has remained as such. In going back early Monday morning to get our car, we were informed it was not finished and instructed to return later that day. We never received a phone call from anyone indicating there was a delay, and as a result, we were without our main vehicle for the weekend. As a result of the poor communication, we won't be taking our business here again. read more
