So I've had a long history with Stans... During High School (which is right down the street from here) I was in auto shop and we used to order used parts from here on occasion and more recently I had my car towed by them after it was totaled. Not sure how they currently price their used parts, but back in H.S. they were super cheap and the parts were good - used, little dirty, but good. When I got in a wreck a couple weeks back, Stan's was the tow company that ended up picking up and storing my car. They did a good job wrapping my car because my windows were down during the accident. So good in fact that it was moderately difficult trying to actually get into it when I went to pick up my belongings. I don't think it rained in the 2 days they had it before I was able to get my stuff, but I don't think anything would have been wet or damaged inside. Picking up my belongings was fairly easy except for the tow release charges incurred by the PD. I don't know why I'd need a tow release JUST to get my stuff out of the car... it's not like I'm taking the whole car. Anyway though, all my belongings were safe and sound, nothing missing and they gave me plenty of time to get everything out including my stereo system and the dozen or so yards of related wiring. A good experience, easy to work with. Picked the car up as planned and delivered it in damaged.

If I could give a zero star review I would. Thieves and liars. The good, showed up in a timely fashion...that's where it ended. The bad: First, the tow driver asked for the tow hook. I provided it, he broke the tow point cover, then he couldn't figure out that it had reverse threads to screw it in. He proceeded to hook it by the suspension, during which I properly inserted the tow hook. Instead of stopping as I instructed he slung the car up by the suspension scrapping the front clip all the way up the truck. Called it whatever, but really should have known it was downhill from here. They Kept my car overnight to take it over to the mechanics. Mechanic had an easy fix and had it done same day. All was good until I checked out the front clip. The second driver had put the car on the truck backwards. He then drove it off forwards scrapping into a rock driveway. The car had a long front end saab 9-3 aero. The whole front clip was broken in half. The driver broke all 5 front grill pillars and cracked the front splitter as well as putting deep gouges into the paint and plastic. (See pictures before and after before taken 2 weeks prior when putting in aftermarket grill) I addressed the issue with the owner, the next morning, and he promised as well as his son to fix the vehicle properly; as his driver openly admitted to scrapping the front end on the ground. Knowing this I paid them for the towing services ~$250. It took them roughly 4 hours from me dropping off the car for them to call me to tell me they were done fixing it. Red Flag. They had drilled holes through the bumper and grill and zip tied it up (see pictures). By the time I picked it up the office was closed. This was not a sufficient fix, so I went back the next day. I was not greeted nicely. I was told I was a liar and the second driver all of a sudden claimed that his 100k truck couldn't have done damage like that. The owners son then professed he had looked and determined the car had been hit hard in the front, he knew because the condenser was bent almost in half. That it had some of the worst front end damage he had seen. I asked for my money back at this point, since obviously they were not going to fix this correctly. I was promptly told to get off the property because I was a liar and if they had to call the cops they would. Two things, the condenser sits behind the intercooler. The condenser was replaced 1 week before because it had a bad crack. Second the intercooler was replaced at the same time with an aftermarket intercooler and hoses. All of which they would have seen if they would have pulled off the front end. Aside the car was never in a wreck. The next step was pursuing in court, which wasn't worth the money or time. So I left it be. This is just not the proper way to conduct business or carry ones self. Beware of these con-artists. They do run a junk-yard after all. read more

Stan's have always been excellent to myself,my Father and my Daughter and son when it came to towing,always fast,reasonable and very friendly to us all,great people inside and out. When calling for a part,and they have to do a bit of research on what I need,they always call back at a timely manner,and for the most part,they have what I need,even off the wall stupid things.Stan's even had part's for the Body Shop to repair a vehicle of my wife's when she was rear ended by a 16 year old newbie driver when it was wet out,driving to fast for conditions.,Stan's had a beautiful hatch that matched my wife's van. I will stick with Stan's for my first go to salvage yard all the time when I need a part from them,seemed they even have a used tire and a rim I needed years back,totally awesome... Do not ever go to stans. Chip the owner has the worst piss pour attitude. I tried to sell him a vehicle that was not running and was about only 5 miles away. I had just put 4 tires on this vehicle for $1,000. So I wanted to have it towed and have the new tires taken off. He refused even Though I offered to purchase the 4 used tires from him. He even refused to change the tires I had to have it done before they would tow it. He was suppose to call me after lunch which he never did. He even told me "I really don't need it". Then started to whine about the price of metal. He could of made back the $200 he offered me just from the glass out of this vehicle and selling me 4 used tires. So I went to I 80 salvage on burr street. By 80/94. He gave me $250 for the vehicle and had no problem towing it and taking the new tires off and I didn't have to put used tires on it. They were very helpful and very nice. Chip at stans auto is what's called a "yard rat". He has been in the business to long. He is rude and is not a helpful person. I was pleasantly surprised with the great service I received from Stan's. Not only did I get a slight discount for the tow of my car, but they fixed the belt on my car in order to get it up and running. When I tried tipping the workers for their hard work, they refused to take they money. Very good honest people!!! I was very impressed with the professionalism at Stans. My car was towed on a Friday evening after hours and I called to find out that they were closed on Saturdays and Sunday's. I worried all weekend about the storage fees and how much it would cost to get my car back. When I spoke to Chip first thing Monday morning he took my situation into account and dropped the storage fees. All I had to pay for was the tow.
