Absolutely thrilled with the work they did in my yard. Had a dead Siberian Elm in a very awkward position close to my and my neighbors home as well as power lines that needed to come down. Two large locust trees as well as a Linden tree needed serious trimming. Requested an appointment while I was out of town thinking that it would be several days before hearing back (as with other contractors, in fact one hasn't even bothered responding). Vincent inspected the trees and sent a quote before I was even home. I still had questions and concerns and he came right out in person to discuss the job in detail. Their quote came in so reasonable compared to others, I spent additional time researching them as the price had me worried. The crew came when scheduled, on time! cleaned while they worked and left my yard and the neighbors yard (as they needed access) cleaner than it was before they came. I needed to remove trees that had died at the trunk level, and were in danger of coming down on my house. I had reached to another company for tree removal as well as Alpine Tree and Shrub Care. Vincent reached out to me right away and then did a thorough site survey before giving me a quote, rather than try to estimate it over the phone. This was what the job entailed after the site survey and explaining what I wanted. 1) Cut off and remove - 2 cotton woods, 1 catalpa and 1 silver maple in front yard - cut to low stump 2) Remove bushes along S fence line in front yard (leave bush in corner near house) 3) Grind Stump (they went almost double the depth that they quoted me because they wanted to make sure the dead trees would not grow back). They surpassed my expectations. They were extremely professional, knowledgeable, and studious in their work and clean up. Bought a 57 year old house with huge trees that had never been trimmed before. While I love a good tree in my yard, it was clear from the start that the Blue Spruce up front had to go before it fell into the house. It was dying a sad slow death. I cold-called 3 tree companies, and given Jonathan's number from a co-worker's tree guy. I'm so glad I found him and Alpine Tree & Shrub Care. They were the best price, and they were able to get me scheduled in. I had them remove the Blue Spruce and trim up a Maple and Locust in the back. Jonathan pointed out that my locust was diseased and suggested I get someone to come spray it. He gave me a recommendation (whom I called) and it looks like the thing is on the recovery. We recently bought our first house and with it came a few trees that were in serious need of some immediate TLC. Luckily, we met Jonathan of Alpine Tree & Shrub Care! Jonathan provides free estimates and the deal was simply too good to pass up! The first patient has been the gigantic tree out front. There were several dead branches that threatened to fall any moment. The whole thing required tons of work. A team of three arrived perfectly on time and they unfurled their ladders and attached their climbing gear and got right to work. After about an hour and a half, the tree looked like something from a children's book where cookie baking elves lived instead of a tale of horror where trees eat people. In addition to the great work, I was really impressed with how well the team cleaned up after. Every stray branch and leaf were picked up and removed. When I was in college, I worked for two years on a logging operation in the White River National Forest in Colorado. I am now 68 years old (and I mean 'old') and still use a chain saw- I have a brand new Stihl with a 16" chain bar. So when I received a notice from the City Forester to remove one of our 75 year old 65 foot tall Elm trees I actually considered dropping it myself - for about 30 seconds. As soon as I came to my senses I called Jonathan at Alpine.They have been caring for my trees and bushes for many years. It so happened that my neighbors across the street also had a mature American Elm of roughly the same size (65 feet, 28 tons) and age that had to be removed from between their two houses with less than two feet clearance from either structure. I approached my neighbor about getting a combined bid from Alpine to remove both trees and they agreed. We received a bid from Alpine that was 25% below the bids we received from other companies. Alpine came out with a 15 story 120 ton crane and removed both trees in less than 6 hours. More importantly, they exercised a degree of care and skill that was truly remarkable and obvious even to my neighbors, who would not know which end of a chain saw to hold. This company has awful customer service. Based on all the positive reviews here on Yelp, this place was the first one I called for Tree Trimming service. I expected they'd come out, give me a quote, and it might take a few weeks for the work to get done. When I called, I got a voicemail that said "We're really busy right now and aren't accepting new clients. If you're a previous client, please leave a message and we'll call you back." For real? They won't even talk to me on the phone? That's no way to treat a customer and no way to run a business. This one is off the list forever. read more

Very smooth transaction overall. The process from getting a quote to the actual job took about a month, which was within my expectations. Ashley responded promptly to all communications via phone and email. I suspect that the fall can be a busy time for tree trimming services. Ashley was consistently professional and courteous in her communications. The only reason I didn't give a 5 star review is because the crew actually showed up 40 minutes early. Normally this isn't an issue, but I do rent my house out, and I wanted to be there to move cars out of the way without having to wake my tenant. They did a great job on 5 very large and very old trees (linden, hackberry, and ash) and cleaned up after themselves. I would definitely recommend. read more

MEH. The trees got taken down. The work was speedy. They didn't trim the branches hanging over my fence that I specifically asked for before my consultation. I asked the workers about those branches when it seemed like they weren't going to do it and was told they would get the little ones over the house. I'm not sure why they couldn't get the ones that are going to break the fence. For as much as I paid, it would have been nice to get what I had asked for. read more

I had these guys trim and clean-up a (very old) silver maple in my backyard. They were quick to do the estimate and quick to schedule the appointment. Their estimate was also $250 less than a competitive estimate I received. When the team arrived, they were very courteous and moved all of our stuff out of the way (and then replaced it) without a complaint. The tree now looks great! I also really appreciated how nice and courteous their phone staff was. It was great that they emailed me the quote and I was able to pay after the work was done via phone/credit card. Vince and his crew were working on cutting some trees down across the street from my house when I asked him for a quote to cut down some trees on the side of my house. He came over and said since he was going to be coming back to grind the stumps next door he could cut mine down then and gave my a quote which I accepted. I sent him my contact info to his phone like he asked that day. 3 weeks later I notice they came back and ground the stumps across the street so I called and texted him but got no response. After trying 3 other times he finally responded and said he needed to come out and look at the job again. Came out and said " I need to quit undercutting myself" and gave me a estimate of over twice what he originally quoted. Vince also said " He had been going through a lot" and "not a people person". Not sure what that means but okay. Ended up getting someone else to to it for the original quote but just thought it was unprofessional practice and wanted to give future customers a heads up read more

Alpine Tree came into my neighborhood to service someone on my block. The driver proceeded to back his truck into our 45 yr old Locust tree breaking several branches. i could hear what was happening, and ran out to yell at the driver to stop. He apologized stating he rarely drove that truck and was unsure of its' size! I asked him to come and clean up the mess he made. I left a message with their office regarding the damage done to my tree. Never received a return call from any one at Alpine. The employee came up and picked up a couple branches and cut out a few he damaged. Promised the owner would come by--never did. the employee never came back to finish the clean up. I got a notice from the city to remove a dead tree in our front yard (a good thing actually, because it could have fallen on our house at any moment). We also had a 50 year old ash tree with tons of dead wood that was in serious need of a complete prune. In addition, I wanted quotes for trimming back various elms on the property away from the roofs of my house and garage (as well as power lines going from the pole to our house, which is our responsibility and not Xcel's). Alpine Tree & Shrub Care's quote was by far the lowest - $775 for EVERYTHING, while other companies wanted to charge far more for even less work. I think the 2nd lowest we got to do the same work was around $1800. They also didn't charge a fee for paying with credit card, like some of the other companies. Whenever I called, sometimes I did have to leave a message but they always called me back right away. I am a very thorough planner and can be annoying at times, but Jonathan was very accommodating. We decided to have Xcel trim some of the elms that were tangled in the pole-to-pole lines first since we wouldn't have to pay for that ourselves, and Jonathan was spot on with how long he estimated it would take them to come out. He even offered to call Xcel for me to try and help move things along. Even though Alpine's schedule was 3-4 weeks out at the time, he penciled me in so that once Xcel did come and do their work, they came within a week to do the rest. The work itself was done fast and the most amazing thing was that they left our yard in BETTER condition than it was before they came. Since it was September, some leaves had already started to fall a bit and they raked all that up as part of their cleanup. I was very impressed. They also hauled away the debris that Xcel left (which was A LOT) for free. The job foreman walked me through all the work they did once they were done to make sure it was done to my satisfaction. I'm very happy that I went with Alpine Tree & Shrub care after researching and interviewing/getting quotes from SEVEN different companies. I will definitely recommend them to all my friends and family and will continue to use them for my tree care needs in the future. read more

I had a lot of concerns about this company which turned out to be unfounded. First it took a week or two to get an estimate. The owner comes out in a shiny pickup truck with "Alpine Tree" printed on the side. He was energetic and super knowledgeable about our trees and knew exactly they needed. Seven large trees needed varying amounts of work for around $2 grand. OK. Not as cheap as the foreign lawn service guys but a lot cheaper than the big tree names in town. I asked if the owner would be on site during the work and he said "No. I just do estimates." That was a concern as I was convinced that he was a one man show who would just sub out the work- probably to the lawn service guys. We got a nice professional emailed estimate broken out by tree which was nice. After reading reviews we decided to take a chance and go with Alpine. We called to accept the estimate and it took a week to get a call back with a date a month out (the owner said to expect this so we were not surprised). The owner (surprise) and a crew of six arrived on site a little late as there was a job ahead of ours. Fine. Multiple trucks all with "Alpine- bonded and insured" on them. OK maybe this is a real company. These guys are the real deal. Within minutes ropes were strung in trees and they were all working like crazy sixty to a hundred feet off the ground. I've never seen people so comfortable in trees. They were exceedingly professional and did a great job. Thousands of limbs were cut. They were here about three hours and cleaned up well. Payment (check or credit card) was made after a walk through. Alpine was a good choice for us. They take charge focusing on the health of your trees- they don't just cut limbs. They are great if you aren't in a hurry as they are booked out a month or more. It's OK as they are trees. Not much changes in a month. read more

It is a true shame that Yelp! does not allow the granting of zero stars, because Alpine Tree & Shrub deserves it. This company blatantly utilized redlining tactics when reached for an inquiry. After noticing the services they provided our next door neighbor, we reached out to Alpine for a quote. Almost immediately, they denied our request telling us that they did not service our area. Not more than two months later, they were boldly back on our block, servicing our neighbors house without a worthy explanation. When reached for comment, Ashley told us that zoning areas were "sometimes fuzzy" and they were doing the service for my neighbor as a "one time" courtesy. Not only was this a very bold lie, but it was completely improbable. Weak apologies were offered and no actions were taken to correct this issue. It is a shame that they are still in business, discriminating against good customers like this. Absolutely do NOT provide this company your business. Their ethics are deplorable and their customer service is abhorrently insulting. read more

Right after the big mother's day snow storm, I contacted them for some tree damage. Their answering machine said they were scrambling with the snow damage, and to leave a message. Absolutely understandable, and I was happy to get a call back the following business day. I scheduled a time to have someone come out to give an estimate. I took the day off from work so I could be at the house when they arrived.I was told they would call before arriving. They never called. I called the main number to ask if we were still on, and didn't get a call back after leaving the voicemail. The estimator never showed up. I tried to be understanding, since I'm sure they were absolutely crushed with work from the snow storm. So that afternoon I left yet another voicemail to see if we could reschedule. Once again, no call back. I get that you guys were busy. I even get that some of us may have fallen through the cracks under the load. I was very polite in all my contacts, even though I only spoke with a human being one time. Even a simple call back saying that they would not be able to take on new business would have been ok. Just some kind of communication to let me know what's going on. Under normal business conditions, perhaps Alpine is as good as other reviewers say they are. I'd have been fine with being told they couldn't take on a new customer. But I lost a day of work and never received a call back on repeated attempts. I went with Alpine Tree & Shrub Care to remove a Pine Tree because they provided the lowest quote. The work was eventually done well...no complaints there. However, communication to/from the office was atrocious: 1) When I asked for a bid, I provided information for the City Forester I had contacted to show that the city was, in fact, willing to grant me a permit to have the tree removed. Alpine actually pulled the permit before I even indicated that I accepted their bid. Since they provided the lowest bid, I just went with it. 2) It took three calls to the office over the span of one week to actually reach someone and find out when they could do the job. Turns out they had already scheduled me but never bothered to communicate the scheduled date. 3) They indicated they would call me if they had to move my appointment. My appointment day passed and they didn't call or show up. Afterwards, I called the office and they said they had to move my appointment. read more

Do not use this company. There are better tree service companies out there, with integrity and good customer service. I should I realized that this would be a bad experience from the start. Vincent came out and gave me a quote for cutting down the trees. On his way out, I asked that pruning be included. Initially, I said yes to the entire cutting of the trees and pruning, but decided that the pruning was too expensive. When I changed the work order the owner, Jonathan, called me to say that the cutting price was based on the pruning (which it was not), and that I should not use two companies to do my tree work. The price Vincent gave me for cutting down the trees was given before the pruning of the other trees was included. The crew came and started cutting down the trees, and I asked if I could keep some for firewood. They stacked a lot of wood, and after a while, I said that that was enough. The crew chief then told me that they would be leaving all of the wood. I called Vincent, who then said that the price he gave me was quoted on the premise that I would keep all of the wood. There would be an extra $200 charged for taking away the wood. There were other issues with the crew, which made this a very negative experience. Do not use this company. There are a lot of better companies to choose from. read more

I called Alpine Tree and Shrub Care a few weeks ago, since the previous owners of my house were too lazy and stupid to realize they had dead trees in their back yard from their monster dogs destroying them. Jonathan came out the day after I sent a request for an estimate (called me immediately, too, which was a first), and quoted me a reasonable price on what it would take to remove two dead trees and do a stump grind on a bush out front. I just moved into my house in December and have a large cottonwood that was regularly dropping large branches. I got bids from the three other tree trimming companies and Alpine had the best priced bid by a long shot. I actually never met Jonathan or his team due to my work schedule, but the tree looks fantastic while still having all the dangerous dead wood removed. The actual service of cutting down trees and branches was super quick and they did an even better job than I could have hoped for. The price was better than other quotes as well. The communication was a little spotty when trying to schedule my appointment. I will chalk that up them being very busy, but it took several calls/ e-mails to get set up. They also showed up rather late. The scheduled time was early afternoon. At 3:30 I called and asked when they would arrive and I was told 15-20 mins. They did not show up until about 5:30. I will use them again because I was happy with the work and just hope that the scheduling and timing go a little smoother. Overall, good job with some room for improvement. read more

The bid came in right in the middle of all the others but Alpine was the most responsive, most professional, and seemed to be the most knowledgeable about my trees and work that needed done. They trimmed a very large Cottonwood tree last spring that's at least 75yrs old, over 70' tall, and hadn't been trimmed since the 80's. I wasn't able to be home so my neighbor supervised and said Alpine had a large, professional, and very efficient crew that performed all aspects of the job to great satisfaction. The tree looked amazing right after and this spring looks healthier and happier than ever. My neighbor even admitted that they've never seen the tree look that good in 30yrs. I got three estimates to remove a large tree in my back yard that was growing into the electric, cable and phone wires, as well as 2 trees in the front. Jonathan was the middle amount estimate, there was someone higher and someone lower. It was a very reasonable amount and far less than I expected. Since Alpine had the best reviews, I decided to choose them. I am very happy I did so. Jonathan was very professional. They came out, while I was at work, and did the work in probably an hour. They cleaned up everything, and if it weren't for a large missing tree in my yard, I wouldn't have known they were there. From the initial estimation to the final clean-up, this company operates like a well-oiled machine. Jonathan (owner) and Ashley (office mgr) were a pleasure to work with. When they couldn't complete the work on the originally scheduled date (due to my neighbor's car being in the way even though he agreed to move it the day before - ugh!), they were able to fit me in again later the same week. I had them prune a very old locust tree (that had never been trimmed by the previous owners) and remove a couple of smaller trees. First, a crew came and did the actual pruning and tree removal. Then a clean-up crew arrived just as the initial crew finished. The whole process only took about 2 hours. Initially, I thought the cost was about average, compared to other estimates I received. Then when I saw the final results and how well they cleaned up after themselves, I thought it was worth every penny. We got several quotes for a major job. Jonathon was the first to call us back from my online inquiry. He gave us a quote quickly and provided great service. We selected them due to the fair quote and his detailed review of our need. He provided an additional quote for shaping up our blue spruce. The job was a tricky one. Our ash trees were nestled between our house and our neighbors with a privacy fence, garage, pergola, and power lines as additional hazards. The trees were very old and large and beautiful but had many branches too close to our and our neighbors property We also have a tile roof so that needed to be protected. To say the least I was a little nervous. We needed the right balance of trim work, safety, and I still wanted my trees look beautiful. The work that alpine did was fantastic. It exceeded my expectations and the clean up they did was wonderful. My husband was home during the entire process and half expecting a disaster has taken lots of before photos. I hired them to take down two trees and they had damaged my property (electrical wires and roof) and my next door neighbors property (their garden was destroyed, lawn was torn up, and latch on their fence was was detached). Alpine has taken down a sumac (weed) tree, trimmed my enormous maple 3 times, lifted skirts on trees in the front to get them off the roof as well as reccommended a new tree to replace the sumac with better positioning and beautiful color. After reading all the reviews I am thriled to be an existing customer. These guys are so busy that at least I know I can get a response. They are just that good that having to wait a few weeks or a month is not a big deal to me. It's worth the wait to get the job done. I asked Jonathan why he doesn't hire another crew? His response,"it's really hard to find quality employees". Quality control is important when you own a business so I can respect his decision to not add another crew just to meet demand. Some companies grow to fast and then disappoint. I remember when just Jonathan & Jeff were in the trees and they only had two guys on the ground. I had my trees trimmed this year before having my roof replaced. They came late due to add ons at another residence. It was starting to drizzle a bit outside. They wanted to reschedule but I said no. I had taken my dog to daycare and took a day off from work. We compromised on just doing the maple in the backyard that day and they came back to do the front when I didn't need to be home. We have an enormous elm tree in our backyard that is hard to reach. In twenty years of tree trimmings by many different companies, Alpine is the best by far. They had a crew of six, two trucks including cherry picker and a wood chipper.
