I expected it to be much longer. Here's the thing. This is not a regular restaurant mozzarella stick (clearly). It's actual quality and flavor. Real ingredients make for a really great feast. Look at that cheese pull! My only suggestion is to be cautious when entering the parking lot if you're not local to the area. It's a very sharp turn and there's not a lot of room for error. Finally got her to try the pizza and a Lightning rod. Ordered a firebird the pizza. Brought it home and i was very disappointed in the taste. The crust was good so it wasn't a complete failure and it had plenty of toppings. but, the biggest issue was the extremely over salted taste. To point where it was almost inedible. First time visiting and I can say that we WILL be coming back again and again! Our pizza was super cheesy and they loaded the toppings. The crust was thin but so crunch and crisp and our jalapeños were super spicy (which we loved). The owner was kind and made conversation as we waited. After seeing a TikTok months ago, I knew on a recent road trip that I had to hunt down the famous Lightening Rod!! This is a carry out or delivery joint only. There are no places to sit and there's around 4 parking spaces. I would highly suggest ordering ahead and picking it up. The decor is all 80's themed and was super fun!! There was a woman who took our order who was not overly friendly and just pointed to the paper menu. For me, this is where this place lost a star... The Lightening Rod was absolutely everything I wanted! It does have a thicker crust but you get ranch and pizza sauce to dip in! That was super tasty!! We did a pepperoni pizza with their signature crust. I liked it! It also had a nice leopard crust! The pepperoni was a bit thick for me and I didn't really like the flavor. The woman who placed my order over the phone and when we arrive was amazing! She was so sweet and accommodating! Atmosphere is super cool-- 80's theme! So many things from then that I hadn't seen or thought about for years! Parking is challenging to say the least. There are 4 spots on the side of the building which are super tight... This is NOT a sit down restaurant, carry out only, but there are 80's music videos playing while you wait! They didn't call our name when our order was ready so our son in law who ordered right before us got his a good 15 minutes before my husband finally asked about ours; that sucked. Ordered carry out-it was ready on time and front counter was super friendly! We ordered the dillorean on the scorpion crust and the Vega on cracker crust and a lightening rod. The Vega was a 10/10, the dillorean was also great but the scorpion crust wasn't what we expected--the crust was the same as the cracker crust there was just a ton of red pepper flakes on the pizza itself, so the crust itself wasn't spicy. I ordered an Alzone $27.00 for a dry calzone with no flavor. Then the service they use Squareup so you can get your food delivered is a awful site to use. They end up referring the orders to Uber Eats, Doordash etc. Why not just sign up with those services instead. Anyways, the Uber driver delivered my order to the wrong house, after finding my cold food, I called Squareup for a refund. Spoke to a Liam who said he would process it. A few days later I called back and spoke to Belle who also stated it would be refunded and would send an email. Never happened. So now I have to dispute this with my bank which will take even more time. The total was $42.59. Yes, that's right a huge amount with service charges, delivery fee and tip. Ever since seeing it on social media, I have been wanting to try Alphonso's "Home of the World Famous" Lighting Rod Mozzarella Sticks. You're able to call ahead to order them for pick up, which I recommend because it's a small venue with a small parking lot. We had four adults sharing and they recommended we get two. I know that sounds ridiculous but they are HUGE and two was almost too much. I honestly don't know how they do it. They are handmade using Wisconsin mozzarella, and it was warm, gooey, and had beautiful cheese pulls from the first the last bite. Also, the herb seasoned breading was SOO crispy and wonderfully paired with their homemade pizza sauce for dipping. I don't understand how they're able to make these (nor do I want to ruin the magic), but I would definitely get these again! read more

We ordered two cracker crust house pies - one CSMO and the other pepperoni, pineapple, giardiniera & cream cheese. Cracker crust is really nice flaky and has good flavor, holds the toppings well. Not a bland crust by any means !! ... and if you want you can flavor your crust, they have a variety of options. Toppings are plentiful and fresh, really really nice. The toppings to crust ratio is toppings heavy. The cheese is good, the sauce is good. For me the toppings and the crust stood out the most. All around a solid choice in pizza, old school menu with an elevated twist of toppings and/or portions and next time I plan on trying that arm of a cheese log. I'm sure that's their most popular item, but I'm happy to say that Alphonsos's goes far beyond the enormous appetizer and can attest to a really fantastic menu. I saw a few viral TikToks about this spot and had to check it out for myself! Yes, the "Lightning Rods" (giant cheese sticks / mozzarella sticks) are really as big as they look! You can't just order one and a "half order" is 2 sticks for $14 which seems very cheap. It also comes with 2 containers of marinara sauce (each is bigger than the photo makes it look - but you can order extra sauce if you want). I had a few people point out that they thought the breading was a little thick - but I didn't really notice it. There's A LOT of cheese packed in these things. The weight... I know these are big sticks, but I really thought I got a box full of sticks. I could only finish about 3/4 of one and saved the rest for the next day. Never as good reheated as when they first come out - so go with a friend and split the order with them. When I went (10 minutes after they opened), their deep fryer was down and I ended up waiting an hour and 6 minutes for my order to be ready. If it wasn't for the wait time, I'd give Alphonso's The Original all 5 stars. It's certainly worth having the experience but the wait time makes it something that I won't be stopping by for regularly. read more

I ordered the mozzarella sticks. There's no seating inside. I asked for silverware so I can try it in the car (drive home was 2 hours). They had to search for plastic silverware. They're a carry out restaurant.. how is that not handy to have for customers. Taste..... eh. The center was not melted. That kind of ruined it to eat it immediately. Take it home, heated it up....
