The wall of mugs- looks neat.

Friendly staff, great beer selection (flights too!). There is plenty of seating and picnic tables outside for those who wish to have some fresh air. You can bring your own food - but they also have a popcorn machine and bar food/snacks. They offer food some days, but check their website for up to date info on what food is being offered- I saw they had a Fish Fry on Friday when we were in town. We came with our families- the kids enjoyed playing board games and munching on popcorn, while adults were able to relax. They had many beers to choose from, for all different taste levels- dark beer, lager, IPA, etc. Everyone found one they liked, and we got a Howler to take back to the lake house. You can buy and Howler & Growler if you're in the area and want to take it home. Plenty of parking in front and in the area. Its a small town with not much there so bring food/snacks from a surrounding town before you come- although I hope this brewery brings more business to town and other stores can open up. A great atmosphere- and I got a shirt and stickers to remember our time here.

You feel like you're driving through a ghost down and then all of a sudden there's a cute little brewery. Great beer. Snacks to purchase. Everyone, staff and locals were friendly.

This is not a hobby brewery. They have many types of beers, all that are finally crafted. The service is friendly and excellent. Yes, Alpha is a small town in the middle of nowhere in the upper Peninsula of Michigan. But this is a destination brewery that is worth the destination.

You want this shirt!

The beer is awesome and the atmosphere is great. This brewery is located in a small village with a traffic circle. Coolest thing ever!

A hobby brewery. A nice touch is that they offer homemade pizzas made by the senior center. Beers tasted a lot alike.

Unfortunately, there was no inside seating due to covid and it was a bit drizzly so my mom and stepdad weren't interested in hanging out. They do not have beer flights, but you can try every one of their beers. Since I had the Flying Fish earlier in the week and I have had the IPA . IPAs are my thing as well as citrusy beers so I tried the Lemon Fish and the Next Up. Now, I love citrusy beer, but this was the most lemony beer I have ever had. Not bad, just powerful. The Next Up... wow! It is a hazy IPA and it is an awesome beer. I got a pint. They had just finished canning the Next Up and didn't have any available for purchase but I did get a six pack at Meijers to drink during the rest of my time in the yoop. I also got a t-shirt because one can never have too many t-shirts and I needed a souvenir to show my craft brew friends back at my current home.

The Upper Hand lager and Yooper pale ale were both excellent and enjoyed the UPA pale ale also. The Upper Hand IPA was good - just a little too piney for my palate. Small indoor areas with northwoods decor and a nice outdoor patio area with tables and picnic tables. Good selection of brewery gear, t-shirts, hoodies and beer to go.

Although it was busy that day, the service was very attentive and the Rachel sandwich feature that I had was very tasty. They also have an extensive wine and beer list in the craft cocktail. Four friends from Kansas University Law School and an internationally known author and his wife,…read morewho happen to live in Marquette, met for a Friday-night dinner in September 2025. Earlier that day we all did our book shopping at Snowbound Books on Third Street, and followed that visit by dining at The Vierling. As other reviewers have noted, the place is busy, and reservations are recommended. And as others have noted, the food is very good. Around our table we had soup (the whitefish chowder (cup, $5.75) came out piping hot - perfect with a dash of black pepper and Tabasco), some salads (gluten free, $5) - I wished someone would order the whitefish bites, but not this time. While all of us had dined at Vierling in the past, this was the first time our group was seated in the space immediately adjacent to the bar, accessed through a walkway. The space includes what looks like a still for beer or spirits, and impressive and imposing sight. We arrived at 5:30 p.m., when the space was empty, so sound levels were good. By 6:30 sound levels went up, probably due to our own conversations as well as those around us. Three of us ordered the locally sourced whitefish (grilled & lightly seasoned, $21); others ordered the grilled salmon ($21), and the beer-battered cod basket ($16.75). Those of us with room left after the entrée shared servings of chocolate peanut butter pie ($6.50, with a crushed Oreo crust, whipped peanut butter filling and fudge ganache top). Service was prompt, friendly, and everyone's order was filled without flaw. We tend to talk a lot, and I think we probably overstayed our reservation when our host explained, at close to 8:30 p.m., that the table had been reserved for another seating that evening. Our host was courteous and diplomatic, and I'm glad she spoke up, as we really did occupy the space for close to three hours on a very busy Friday night. Hope to do it again next time we're all in Marquette, but maybe be a bit more mindful of the length of our stay.
