If you are into tap rooms and local microbreweries, the Tribute Brewing Company in Eagle River is a must stop when visiting this northern Wisconsin community in Vilas County. Located in a small industrial building on the north side of town, the facility is not much to look at. As you enter you pass a bank of lockers like you might find in the changing room of your local YMCA. Apparently this is where the regulars store their mugs. The industrial ambiance continues in the tap room where you will find the bar and tables and a bit of a view into their production area. We sat at the bar and enjoyed our beer while chatting with the owner and server. The beer we sampled was very good for a small town micro-brewery. Tribute makes several classic styles as well as some creative blends such as one flavored with the essence of jalapeño peppers. All are worthy of a taste, even though I'm not sure I could finish a whole glass of a jalapeño flavor brew. We bought a couple of four packs of their more traditional styles to take home. read more

Really cool place. Cold beer and super friendly bartenders. I was going to order a Jalapeño beer, but it was too spicy. He made me a "haleberry" which is a blueberry jalapeño half and half. Terrific! 9.3/10 read more

This used to be an old warehouse so plan for it to be a little chilly. They do have a nice patio area outside though! No food, but they do have a popcorn machine. They make their beer in house and the menu usually has like 8-10 options to choose from. They've got some nonalcoholic choices too. read more

While this place didn't knock my socks off, if I lived in the area, I could see myself stopping in here from time to time. I visited in the middle of summer and I think one of the worst things about this place is that it seemed hot... almost like the air wasn't on. No big deal but it didn't want me to stay for an extended period of time. Between the 4 of us and the ability to order flights of 6, I was able to try most of what they offered on that particular day. My favorite brew of the day was the Jalapeno Wheat Ale that they had. It might be one of the best hot beers I've had. Most hot beers are too spicy or not spicy enough(which makes them annoying). This one was balanced more than others I've tried. I want to say that's likely because of the wheat but I can't be completely sure. I like the place. I like their beer. I did buy a 4-pack of their cans(coffee porter to be exact). I normally don't buy porters for home consumption but the one they were offering stood out. Unfortunately, the taste didn't translate to the cans on this occasion. The good news is that the 4-pack I picked up was only 10 bucks. A lot of breweries are pumping out those 15-20 and I've even seen higher priced 4-packs than that. When I bought the beer and paid my tab, they kept the beer in their cooler while I was finishing up my flight. That was nice and totally unnecessary. Most breweries wouldn't do that so kudos to them. They also had a popcorn machine. Perfect if you need a snack but since it was warm in the place, it didn't make me want to eat any on this day. Overall, if you're in northern Wisconsin, you should stop in here. If I ever find myself in northern Wisconsin again, I'll likely stop in to see what they're brewing up. read more

This place was great! We were staying in Eagle River for the weekend for a family gathering, and we had bookmarked a winery and brewery to visit in the case of poor weather. Which was definitely in the forecast, and eventually a reality. Following a day on and in the lake, and after a visit to a nearby winery, we ended our day drinking with a visit to Tribute Brewing Company. The atmosphere is fun and welcoming. Definitely more "young brewery" than "Up Nort Beer Drankin'". Those of us who were drinking were interested in ordering flights so we could sample several things! Someone else paid for my tasting, but I can't believe that the six-beer flight was particularly expensive. I think they have some guest taps as well. They had a great selection of various different styles of beer and I liked a lot of them! And having popcorn for the imbibers was a welcome snack! They have a large cooler with stickers from other craft breweries and it was a fun taste of home to see a sticker from one of my favorite local to Louisville breweries, 3rd Turn! Cheers! If you like beer and are in the area, you should definitely make a stop here. read more

When we pulled up I thought we were in the wrong spot! The building definitely doesn't look like a traditional brewery but don't let that deter you. The outdoor seating in the summer is great but beware of mosquitos. I would recommend getting the blueberry beer with a little jalepeño! It sounds funky but it's delish. The staff is so kind and let us try all the flavors. read more

We pulled up to this taproom and just kind of looked at one another. It's in a metal warehouse building. Intrigued, we went in and it's lovely inside! I love the blue all over. Everyone was super friendly and the atmosphere was really relaxed. We bought growlers of both a blueberry beer and a really hoppy IPA. Excellent beers, great hang out. My boyfriend and I live in Eagle River and we have never stopped in here before. We finally had a chance to this past Saturday and it will defiantly be stopping here again. I loved the atmosphere it was very relaxing and just a great place to enjoy a beer and chat with friends. The only thing I did not like was it was very dark inside. The beer was great, we tried the Blueberry Train Wheat Ale and it was amazing! Next time we stop I want to try a different flavor. I also enjoyed the free popcorn and peanuts. This is the perfect paring for me while enjoying a brew. The price was just right as well, I did not find the pricing of the beer expensive at all. I would defiantly recommend stopping here the next time when you are visiting the area. It is a great place just to hang out and enjoy a micro brew or before heading off to dinner. read more

As the only brewery in Eagle River of course we had to stop. It is awesome. Love the inside aesthetic as well as the nice outdoor patio. They have a great selection of beers offered at all times and they are always ready to serve them up. They take cash and credit cards and the bar and have popcorn for snacking. This was such an unexpected surprise. We were vacationing in Eagle River and stumbled upon Tribute brewing. The outside is deceiving, not impressive, just a warehouse look with not much around it. However, inside is a wonderful taproom. It is an industrial warehouse, with adequate seating. I got the sampler with four of the Tribute beers (they had 5, but I don't like IPA) and 2 others. I think they had 12 beers or so on tap. They have free popcorn and peanuts. The bartender was very nice. It is not a restaurant, it is just a brewery, so don't plan on dinner. They have games to play and it was a very nice environment. read more

It's a brewery and bar in a giant industrial shed, basically. They offer some good beers--their own, and some others--at reasonable prices, and it's quite unique for the area. Being in a big shed it's not much for atmosphere. There are some board games on a shelf near the far end of the bar, so I guess you can go play games. They do not serve any food (well, there is free popcorn), but allow you to bring or order food from outside. They also sell their beer to go, in growlers. read more

What a great a brewery! My friends and I were in town spending a couple days in a cabin. Me and three others decided to go check out a local brewery. At first the brewery was a little hidden, but we were able to find it pretty quick. Once we got in, the locals were very nice and struck up conversations. The bartender was also very friendly which overall gave a welcoming vibe to the brewery. The brewery itself is not too big, but it's not completely packed so it's easy to find seating. The brewery had many local beers to offer so there was a good amount of beers to choose from. My friends and I decided to split 2 flights that way we could try all the beers they had on tap. The beers were fantastic and we all had our own favorite beer from the flight. On top of this the brewery offered free peanuts and popcorn to go along with our beer. Overall the brewery was a great experience and I highly recommend to anyone who is visiting Eagle River Wisconsin. read more

Great brewery in Eagle River. Unfortunately, they don't serve food other than popcorn. I tried their Saisson and it was very good. Since we were looking for dinner, we only stayed for one. Kudos to the bartender who recommended nearby Lief's Cafe. It was outstanding! read more

I always look forward to coming here when I'm in Eagle River. It's a great little taproom with popcorn and games! My favorite is the blueberry train wheat beer- if you like blueberries, you'll like this beer. There is also a jalapeño beer which sounds interesting but it's delicious and so different then anything I've ever had. Get a growler!!!! read more

Our group of 9 women were really looking forward to stopping at this brewery on our girls trip up north. We were stopped by the owner at 1 pm in the parking lot stating large groups were not welcome. Apparently he doesn't want business, can't imagine this place will stay open long. I'd give zero stars if yelp allowed me. read more

Meh. Ok beer. Not much for atmosphere. But the prices were decent, and their brewing range is respectable: from lager to IPA to saison to porters to blueberry wheat. When I was there they had about 7 of their own beers on tap, and a couple other local breweries: O'so, Lakefront, New Glarus Free popcorn & peanuts is nice. Now, the are a fairly new brewery (2yrs) so I'm hoping they evolve cause I believe it's the only brewery in ER. And I sure like craft beer. read more

This place is poorly ventilated firstly. In the summer it's stifling with a few fans on. Generally busy and its a weird layout. Because the bar is SO big its hard to know if theres a line to wait in or if you should just try to pop in to get someone's attention. Also, this might just be me but I don't drink beer so an alternative beverage might be nice! read more

Arrived today to try out the cranberry beer by Tribute Brewing, given that it's both a limited beer & its currently Cranberry fest in Eagle River. We purchased the cans to go. VERY disappointed. Could not even taste a smidge hint of not just cranberry but any berry/fruit in general. The beer itself also tasted watered down. Had high expectations, hence the 2 star rating. read more

Do not go here if you want to be chastised like a child... my family and I are from Chicago and went to check out this brewery. We bought so beer to go and had to ask a few questions (this should have signaled to the women that we had. It been there before) we paid and before we left decided to sit to enjoy one of our beers. In 2 min the same women who took our order came flying towards us with a raised voiced loudly "oh no no woah you cannot drink that here!!!!" Everyone in the brewery stopped and looked basically. We felt chastised for her lack of communication in letting us know the rules as we hadn't been there before. It was embarrassing and she conducted herself unprofessionally. We don't know the rules, we asked a lot of questions so hint hint, we are not from here!!!!! And no one told us we couldn't Sit and enjoy the beer WE BOUGHT. Just be watery tourists of this before you go! read more

I confess, this is what I like in a brewery. It is not fancy. It is not a gourmet eatery. It is a straightforward brewery where the experience is about the beer. Want something to eat? Bring your own or snack on the popcorn and peanuts. Want beer? This is your place. They post a variety on the board. I was there in the middle of the week, in the early afternoon, and this place was packed. They also have varieties available in cans for take out. The staff was awesome and the vibe was great. read more

Wonderful people who started a brewing company. Exceptionally good beer! They don't serve food, but you are welcome to BYO or have a pizza delivered. No jukebox, but if you have a favorite album, bring it along. They'll put it on their turntable. You'll be happy you stopped at Tribute for a beer or two. read more

Welcome to a distinct brewery. Tribute is an unassuming reminder that specialty crafted beers demand an ongoing search for palate tranquility. Every selection jumps out with robust flavor and, simply stated, are delicious. The blueberry, to that point, is wildly tasty. The people are also great, which rounds out this well-deserved rating. This place is great. Microbrew beer is a welcome relief to the standard faire available in town. We are here are on a Thursday night and the bar is full. I'm trying the Blueberry train Wheat. They have pints, pilsners and minis (my term not there's) so you can try all of their flavors! read more

Love this place! Got to Eagle River on a Monday and Tribute didn't open until Thursday. Finally Thursday comes around and I'm off to Tribute for the 3:00pm opening. I walk in, grab some peanuts, grab my stool at the bar and order my favorite beer,,,the Jealopeno,,,only to hear,,,we don't have any Jealopeno! Ohhhhh No,,,your out of Jealopeno? Well, after driving 350 miles and waiting for Tribute to open for 3 days, I settled for a Blueberry beer. Man-O-Man,,I sure miss the Jealopeno beer. read more

To me it seemed to be a hybrid "dive-bar-up-north-tavern" with all the requisite furnishings from vinyl upholstered bar stools to Green Bay Packers posters and other "up north kitsch." But -- we came for the beer. And the beer was not bad. I had a five beer flight, while my non-driving companion tried several more of the twelve selections on tap. The flavor profile of each selection was spot on. The wheat beer was wheaty, the stout was thick, dark and chewy, the Oktoberfest evoked visions of singing "Ein Prosit" in München. My other selections were satisfactory and my companion enjoyed his as well. With the proliferation of micro-breweries nationwide it's virtually impossible to visit all of them. And it's equally difficult to stand out from the crowd (and get four or five stars from me). But I can recommend stopping here for some beer and checking one more microbrew tap room off your list.

The building was beautiful, an old DNR building full of natural stone and a lot of windows. They also have a nice outdoor space with a serving window. They had some snacks to satisfy salt lovers and a food truck in the lot. The bartender was also great! Really friendly and helpful. It was a great experience!

They offer everything one would expect from a small craft brewery, both in terms of style and pour sizes -- everything from tastes, to flights, to small seven ounce pours (shorties), to a full pint. I had shortie pours of their lager and IPA. The lager was light and refreshing but not thin and watery (think "lite beer"). The IPA was lightly hopped compared to many IPAs on the market these days -- which I thought was good -- one can taste and enjoy the hops without being overpowered by them. The taproom is located in a storefront on the downtown main street. The decor has an "up north vibe" but I wouldn't say it is attractive or coherent in style. There's a bunch of historical memorabilia on display hearkening back to the old days when every town had its own local brewery -- which in this town was (of course) The Rhinelander Brewery. The staff was friendly and could readily talk about their products. The Rhinelander Brewery is not that much different from hundreds of other small craft brew taprooms around the country, so I'll stick with three stars, which for me means average -- but totally acceptable -- in terms of everything one would expect from an establishment like this. Every town should have a place like this.
