Old time feel and baked goods here. Love the vibe, center of town. The gentleman who boxed our goods was so helpful and friendly. We purchased several sweets to try and cut them up to share. The cream puff was not what I was hoping for but still fun to eat. The other doughnuts were okay. Wishing we would have tried the lemon petit 4's. The apple filled elephant ear won our vote. It's just what it sounds like: A folded over elephant ear filled with apple pie filling. As for baked goods, I am always up for trying & happy we did. Try for yourself. read more

Been coming here for years. Everytime the selection offerings are less. The portion size are smaller. Large chocolate chip cookies are half the size of the were just 4 years ago. I doubt I'll be back. A great bakery is hard to find. read more

Change can be great, but not in this case. Baked goods were dry and dizzy with a very high price point. Sad to say pic save danish were much better at one third of price. Bread was fair, crust not crispy. This place was such a treat but has taken a downward turn. read more

We've been coming to this bakery on occasion for about ten years. It has gone through various owners, and is now a shadow of what it once was. This bakery used to have excellent freshly baked whole grain breads. No longer. Today we purchased a cranberry pecan Kringle that has become smaller with every visit, and it was not as well made. It tasted as if it was not fresh and did not contain as many pecans.The staff and owner are friendly. We may return for lunch sandwiches, but are not likely to return for baked goods. read more

2022 update. I'm unable to say for sure... but locals say business sold over the winter. I'll assume it's true because the great Kringles are no more... we used to purchase 2-3 a week for our cabin crew but this year they're just not the same. One and done for us. I'm rooting for this business, but they will need to improve their game. We just had their yellow cake cake with fudge frosting for a birthday. The cake was very over baked and dry, and the decorations were not much more than a home baker could do. We also bought a raspberry and pecan coffee cake which was good, but LOTS of nuts and sadly not as good as the Kringle's of the past. I hope they continue to improve. Eagle Baking is not the bakery it used to be. All the bread is the same, of fine ground texture, whereas they used to have bread with many different seeds and was more course. AND their prices are outrageous, donuts, cakes, yikes! I don't really go there anymore. read more

Called on Saturday about a special cake needed for Weds. I was told I could order on Monday. I waited in line outside (90 degrees) for 20 min (covid precautions) only to be told I had not allowed 72 hours. So after many years of going there through more than one owner I will not be back. Wasted my time, gave me incorrect info and spoiled an event. She kept saying "I don't know who told you that!" Ummm someone who works here are there like 4-5 employees? It's not like many other choice/places (grocery decorator quit). AND THEY TOLD ME THEY TAKE THE CAKES TO THE DECORATORS' HOUSE WHICH HMMMMM.... That doesn't seem right pandemic aside. !! Tiny little place right in the downtown area. Delightful desserts and bakery items. Very reasonably priced and fresh. We stopped fairly later in the day and they still have many options. I only got a lemon poppyseed muffin and it was delectable. Moist muffin with a delicious lemon middle. Wow. So very good!!! read more

Popped in before a manicure appt for a coffee and something tasty. What a bummer. Coffee was bad, but I sorta expected that bc the place is Old School. However, the scone was sad. Blueberry scone with icing so I figured it would be great! It wasn't even made with real blueberries! It had those creepy blueberry pellets that come in instant pancake mix. I mean c'mon. We have been going to this bakery for two decades on our way up to our lake cabin. Everything bread, pastries, donuts, cakes etc were first rate. A year ago they had problems hiring enough staff to keep the store open but they continued to baked and delivered twice a week to our local grocery in Land O Lakes, WI. The quality was the same. This spring the bakery had a new owner and what a shame. The bread is dry, the rye and multigrain have little rye or whole what flour in them. Even the pastries are dry. The breads need more liquid and shortening and a different baking technique. The pastries need more butter and a better baking technique. I have made bread of all types using the no knead method for many years and have the feeling the new owner is skimping on ingredients and does not know how to bake. We will not go to that bakery again and I will make my own bread at the cabin. We can live without pastries. read more

I so badly want this business to survive because it's great to have a full bakery in town. However, they desperately need to switch it up with a more experiences decorator for cakes, cookies, etc. It floors me that these are being sold for money and not made by children just for fun. The bakery and sandwiches are amazing! The staff lacks customer service skills. Stopped on the weekend asked to have my bread sliced and was told it was to fresh and I could bring it back Tuesday to have it sliced. No one buys bread to wait to have it sliced 3 days later. Before we had the chance to order a sandwich I was told that there were 11 sandwiches in front of mine and it would be a 30 minute wait. Stopped in for sandwiches to go. There was a nice selection of options available. Went for the blue jay. Turkey lettuce tomato pickles and choice of dressing. Really wanted the sourdough bread but they were all out, I did stop after the lunch rush though. Opted for the hoagie roll and it was delicious! Still one of my favorite places downtown. Went there yesterday for lunch and today for breakfast before the July 4 parade. Yesterday, we ordered sandwiches for lunch and immediately they got to work and had our food out within 6 minutes. Super friendly and very very efficient. This morning, we went in to grab breakfast and it was absolutely packed. However, the workers were hustling and still got to us in less than 10 minutes and got our order done within minutes. I don't really want to tell people about the lunch sandwiches at Eagle Baking because they will be more busy than they are. That said sandwiches are the worst ever, stay away!!!!!!!!! OK I can't do that. Really really great lunches, very fair prices. I think the best part is the choice of bread and Condiment. My VERY favorite is the " blue jay" on a hoagie with mayo. It's been a long time since I have been in a bakery. So going into Eagle Bakery put all my senses on not hyper overdrive. There is a fabulous selection of danishes, cookies, breads, pies, & donuts. They also make wonderful deli sandwiches which are served with chips, pickle and a cookie. My snowshoe sandwich was delicious. I will definitely be stopping back several times during my stay at Eagle River. read more
