Just saw they closed permanently... well... 2/22- We went in to get info on a gun and potentially purchase a new pistol. We previously have purchased firearms from AlphaDog, as well as had their gunsmith work on a family members gun. All of our previous visits we had great experiences. However when my mother and I went in, we weren't acknowledged at all. We thought it was no problem, the guys behind the counter seemed to be talking to other customers. So we looked through the gun case and waited for them to finish up. One finished helping a customer in front of us, and was fidgeting with things behind the counter. We thought maybe he thought we were just browsing, so we walked over to the register line. He looked at us and walked away to the other side of the room without saying anything. So we waited a bit longer, and stood by the register for a good 5 minutes while the other employee chatted with another guy about a shooting competition or something like that. We weren't in any rush, and didn't think it was a big deal. We figured they were just busy finishing up previous orders/interactions and didn't interrupt. But as we were waiting, two younger teenage boys walked into the store and were immediately greeted and asked if they'd like to see anything off the wall or in the case. The employee who had walked away then handed them a rifle and started to discuss the firearms with them. My mom and I looked at each other and were wondering what was going on. It was weird to feel like you were invisible in a place where you have spent money before, and were actively hoping to spend more. Eventually the gentlemen who was chatting about a competition looked over and saw we hadn't been helped and answered some questions. He was really nice, but we were so off put by the interaction that we decided to purchase my firearm from somewhere else. As we were leaving the other employee finally seemed to realize we existed and said "goodbye!" as we left, which just drove the nail a little bit deeper. I understand that women aren't typically taken seriously in this hobby, but to experience being completely ignored first hand was a shock I have never dealt with before. When we were with a man this was never a problem, so we are assuming that was the issue. Weird experience, definitely won't be returning. read more

I went in looking for a concealed carry holster and asked an employee for help, clearly explaining what I needed and the exact firearm model. He handed me a holster and confidently said, "This will work." When I went to pay, he asked for my ID -- for a holster. That made absolutely no sense. I later checked Arizona law, and an ID is not required to purchase a holster. To make things worse, once I got outside and opened the package, the holster didn't even fit my firearm. Then I checked their return policy and found out they won't accept returns once the package is opened. So I was sold the wrong product, asked for ID unnecessarily, and then stuck with an item I can't return. If you're going to offer help, at least make sure you're giving customers the correct product. Probably made my last purchase here today, in today's climate having a store policy that requires an ID for every purchase (even those that shouldn't require ID) is a bad look. It's intrusive to the customer and, and puts your staff in a pretty bad position. I have purchased a few firearms here in the past, and have always appreciated their consignment where you can score the occasional deal, but if I'm being honest my shopping experiences have never left me with the impression that I'm dealing with a serious player in the business. In a saturated market, they really need to do better. Just my opinion obviously, but for me, I'll go somewhere else from now on, best of luck. read more

Alpha Dog Firearms has an arcade game where you can win free items from their shop and the game has always been $1 per play. I inserted a $5 bill and the game only gave me 3 credits. My buddy then inserted $1 and the game ate his $1 and didn't allow him to play. I went to the counter and informed the staff about the machine, they told me the machine was messed up and there was nothing they could do about it. I asked if we could get the money back for the credits we didn't receive and they basically told us to pound sand. I don't want to make a stink over a couple bucks but this displays horrible customer service. read more

Four times in the last year or so this store has advertised used guns at low prices on line, but when I arrived (I live within a mile) the gun turns out to have been sold or just isn't in the store. Employees are always mystified, excuse is always "Oh, we sold that gun weeks ago and forgot to take it off the posting", and then they try to upsale me to a much more expensive gun. My feeling is that if you post a gun as in stock it should be in the store, I've always arrived to purchase within minutes of the store opening. Possibly posting artificially low prices to improve foot traffic? I can see making a mistake one time, but it seems like this is a common experience with Alpha Dog. read more

However I wouldn't recommend selling a used firearm here as I spent a good 30 minutes waiting on the manager to give me a insultingly low offer. I totally understand that they have to make a profit on used guns nor was I excepting full value for it. They probably had a reason to offer that amount but I found it frustrating that they made me wait that long after I had called ahead to set up a time to meet and the manager that came up with the price couldn't be bothered to leave the back and have a conversation with me. I was a happy customer here since 2018, had the membership, bought shirts, ammo, accessories, and of course guns. A whole bunch of em. I even brought friends in so they could buy guns. Selection and prices were acceptable, and their website was pretty darn easy to use. Sad to say now I doubt I will ever be going back. Last Saturday (3/8/25) I went in to pick up a used Sig P226 I had purchased the night before, only it wasn't there when I showed up. The clerk acted like he had no idea what I was talking about, had me look through the cases to see if I could find it for him, and then went to the back to check after I showed him my emailed order confirmation. After several more minutes he came back out and told me the "system had messed up" and didn't mark the gun as sold in their system when I bought it, and then someone else was able to come in and buy it. Not sure how the system could have allowed that since the page immediately updated to show the gun as "Currently Unavailable" right after I finished buying it. I know because I checked the page right after. The clerk told me that someone would get their ass chewed out over this (why would that be necessary if it was indeed a system error?) But they would "make this right", and then he proceeded to try to sell me something else. Making it right means waiting several days to give me my refund on the 13th, and that's it. I'm not afraid greedy person, I didn't expect a free gun, or even a box of ammo for my trouble, I would have been fine with a sincere sounding apology from whoever messed up. Instead, after years of being a loyal customer who has brought in other customers and pumped who knows how many thousands of dollars into their accounts, I get a "well, shit happens" and nearly a week to get my money back. That's fine. Lesson learned. I will go spend my money elsewhere, and you should to. read more

I've purchased serveral times from these guys and never had any issues with them until this purchase. I placed an order for some 9mm ammo on 5/30 as shown in the attached pic. Note where it says they will contact me when the order is ready for in-store pickup up. After almost 2 weeks and 2 follow up emails I was told via a FB post that in-store pick up was never an option and that they had called me to inform me the order was ready for pick up. However, I never received a phone call...hence my request for another follow up. After emailing them to request a refund I was notified that there would be $19 restocking fee. While I get the need for restocking fees we're talking about 100 rounds of 9mm ammo that will literally be sold within 5 minutes. I could understand it if it was a special order or some odd caliber of ammo. Either way, the customer service all around with this order was lack luster at best. Especially considering I just placed an order for 1K 9mm online for .45CPR and will have it delivered tomorrow. Even with the BS restocking fee Im still paying less than thier original price. These guys take their namesake entirely too literally. Even as a Vet owned business, this Vet will avoid them like KP Duty. read more

I called about some shorty shotgun shells on Saturday, they told me the price, I told them it was $.78 / round online, they offered 5% off and I asked if they could beat the online price if I cleaned them out (18 boxes). Just came home from there, and had a surprisingly bad experience. Here is the whole list of issues. 1. Had receiver delivered to them, I was never Contacted about it being delivered. Not a deal breaker. Just a minor inconvenience. I've probably done 5-10 transfers with them in the last couple of years, and this was a first. 2. I generally cannot come in on weekdays to shop, so I generally do it on the weekends. I went to pick up the parts, I was told that the fee would be $50, instead of $30 due to " The girl who checks them in not working on the weekends". I explained that it had been delivered earlier in the week, but was told it would still be $50. The person was obviously uninterested in helping, so I left. So, if you want to be disregarded, and have a person blow you off due to not wanting to do paperwork, apparently Alpha dog is the place to go. I'd recommend spending your money else where. read more
