Additionally, the kitchen is amazing offering some very welcome alternatives to the common swiss fare. I don't believe it is possible to speak highly enough of my experience at Bever Lodge. No, it's not dead center of St. Moritz, but its 100m from trains and buses, and the small distance affords it a slower pace.

A wonderful hotel and front of house staff- but beware the restaurant…read more With so many prestigious restaurants in the area, one would have to wonder why you would eat here. I came in for our hotel stay and wanted to grab an appetizer before heading to a Michelin Star recognized restaurant. It was my wife's birthday and our first time in St Moritz.... we were ravenous after missing meals while riding 3 trains from Firenze. We asked if it was OK to only have anti pasta or appetizer before we went to dinner, the staff agreed this was OK after checking to make sure we were hotel guests. We were sat and ignored for 15 minutes, I had a bottle of Montalcino wine I meant to share at dinner as a gift, the server came over and told us it would be $100 francs to open it and didn't ask if we wanted it opened. He proceeded to uncork it despite repeated "no, that's OK". From here, he then said "there is no chef or food here for you"... The place has a buffet... it's not classy, despite older folks getting their buffet on. The menu is not as exciting as other options in the region. Just as other reviews say, part of why we only wanted a snack before a proper dinner in this prestigious town. Being made to feel unwanted, unwelcome, and unserved without even water... simply felt like a very poor customer experience all within our first half hour after arriving. My wife then said, "I think were at the wrong restaurant", to which the waiter said, "Yes I think you are". So we left our expensive wine opened at the table in disgust of the service and rudeness, on my wife's birthday nonetheless. The staff was friendly in the front of house hotel side, as well as the Maitre'd. However, they must work on their communication skills and not completely insulting guests on their birthday. Completely unacceptable, a complete miss on dinner if you compare the many renowned restaurants in the region. I would avoid this at all costs unless you love buffet and insultingly rude service. We bought a room and accommodation that included breakfast, but refused to return to this "restaurant". We didn't want a side of cold and rude to spoil the lovely train rides, culture, and mostly polite people. Overall the previous nights experience had my wife in tears and my anger (while admittedly very hangry) at a tipping point, all of which are something I wish on no visitor. Sure, I'm American. My wife is Italian. This was the first time I've seen this and advise you eat anywhere but this below mediocre restaurant with its beyond rude servers and poor communication. But again if you like convenience and buffet food with rude service, this may be for you.
