Drinks came out quickly (beer and wine for me and the hubby, and a Sprite for my son). Note that sodas don't come with ice (that's the case in many restaurants in Italy we found) and it was cool-to-cold. Food was wonderful. My husband got a pizza, my son got a lasagne and I got a pork chop with fries. My pork chop did not look very impressive but it was very tasty. The fries were some of the saddest looking fries (a small handful of almost shoestring fries came out in a dish that looked like someone else already snabbed half of them??) Service was friendly. You get your check and pay at the register when you're done.

I then said, "Sorry, I was confused by the large gelato statue outside," and he responded again, "No, no, this is a restaurant!" with an unfortunate sarcastic attitude. Mind you, the restaurant has a life-size sculpture of gelato right in front. I am attaching a photo. I don't think it's crazy to see a huge gelato statue and assume they might serve gelato there. Regardless, the attitude was not necessary. If sarcastic and rude staff is your thing, then go here.

That is, to set the table with napkin and silverware. They tried to make it fancy/elegant. It still seems silly to charge for a place setting. Just add it (invisibly) into the cost of the food. The food was OK, but nothing memorable. Ambiance was pretty good. We wouldn't go back. Not much else to say, really. Walk up the street and there's some better food to be had.

Those in our party received their food quickly, while the other who ordered the four course "winter special" didn't get their second dish until after everyone else was done their meal. Head up the street a bit from the train station and you can find much better places to eat

Then on the bus with my fellow tour group our director said that there is a restaurant that offers us a 1st and 2nd course, wine and water for 16 euros, we only have to specify if we want a meat dish or veggie dish for our 1st course and the 2nd course was a local favorite dish and we have to pay before we get there Well I sure do like preset menus and prices and I like trying local things and really when in Italy, do as the others. So I pitched in my 16 euros and said I'm a veggie dish (yes yes I normally would be a meat eater, but I had been missing veggies in my life, you can only live off bread and meat for so long haha) We got into Tirano and was told to wait a few minutes and then make our way to the restaurant, we were a group of 45 and we slowly made our way up the hill and towards the restaurant and after about a 10 minute wait we were told our tables were ready, at 1st glance I had no idea how this place was going to fit all of us, but we went in single file into the restaurant (single file because that's how narrow it was) and before I knew it our line was moving up a few flights of stairs. We made it to the 2nd floor and it was a huge room for all us. Bread, water and wine where already at the table waiting for. 1st course came out and since I was a veggie, it was a caprese salad, this was a fresh tasting salad, can't really mess it up, its tomato, mozzarella and basil with seasoning, I was really happy to have veggies in my life. I can also tell you I was thrilled to have an unlimited flow of water to drink. The 2nd course was the local favorite, it was pizzpccheri, buckwheat pasta with veggies and cheese, it was actually pretty good, the texture is different than the pasta we are used to, but it was hardy and good. I'm glad I tried it. On the table was also bottles of red wine, these bottles of red wine were watery, like red juice, I will call it my red juice, because I personally drank over 1/2 a bottle of myself haha and before you know I was singing: Red red wine, you make me feel so fine, You keep me rockin' all of the time Red red wine, you make me feel so grand, I feel a million dollar when you're just in my hand Haha This was good meal for 16 euros, met some interesting people and share a meal and stories

Came here with the tour group to try the local food in the valley, a buckwheat pasta and beef ham…read more The cost was 16 euros. You get four or five slices of thinly sliced ham as the appetizer. I suppose to have cured beef sliced so thin is special. Flavor wise it was just okay. The pasta came in really small portions. The dish had cabbages, potatoes, and cheese in it. The waiter came out with a big tray of the pasta and gave people seconds. The tray ran out when it got to me and he went back to get a second tray. But when he came back, he started with another table. I don't know if I really wanted seconds but when others got them and you didn't, it felt unpleasant. (I may be a petite Asian woman, but I can eat seconds!) The saving grace was that the 16 euros included all you can drink still water and house red. So you should just drink as much wine as you can to break even. The waiters came with the dessert menu but that would cost extra.
