The hotel isn't nearly as fancy as the Cresta Palace, but it doesn't try to be. They even gave us an extra room for 20CHF/night when they saw that my group consisted of 3 adults. The best part about this hotel is definitely the restaurant. The food is on the pricey side, but is definitely worth the extra money. The menu has a wide variety, but specializes in the local cuisine. If you don't speak German or Italian (the only languages on the menu) just pick out something because it is guaranteed to be delicious.

From the outside this hotel looks like it will be of the charming old world sort but the interior is anything but. Everything is modern, well designed and stylish. The rooms are well appointed with every amenity you can imagine and anything you need is one call away. I really appreciated how many snacks and drinks were provided by the hotel just for staying (especially the complimentary champagne on arrival!) It's also literally right next the train station so the location can't be beat! Start here are incredibly nice and helpful as one would expect at a resort like this. Highly recommended!

All Grace rooms have AC but it takes a hot minute to cool. Only some of the room on the La Margna are ACed. All room in both the Grace and La Margna sides are completely renovated and beautiful. I stay on the La Margna side and even though I'm upgraded to an AC room, I never use it. I leave the window open/cracked. Restaurant is delicious but make reservation during high season.

But the service is spectacular, the views are amazing, and the food is pretty good. The schnitzel doesn't compare to the best I've eaten in Austria, but it will suffice. The french fries are very good! And just like everywhere in Europe, you have to beg them to bring a proper amount of water. But I still think it's one of the best places to eat in this small town. When you're finished eating, walk the path behind the restaurant around the corner to see the modest stadium that hosted the opening and closing ceremonies of two different Olympic Games.

It was quite chilly but nice and sunny, so we sat outdoors at the sun terrace to enjoy our meal. They provided a thick blanket with the Kulm Hotel St. Moritz logo in the corner for us to cover ourselves, one per every two seats. Mine had a small cigarette burn hole in it, but otherwise it was quite cozy and warm. My CHF 5.00 latte macchiato came with a yummy little chocolate chip cookie, which I recently learned the cute Swiss word for--Guetzli. ^.^ Brunch was Rösti with smoked salmon and sour cream for CHF 28.00. I've never had this combination before, but it was quite delicious with the fresh greens on the side and delightful, creamy sour cream. I LOVE sour cream, yum! I tried a bit of my bf's Rösti Chesa al Parc with cheese, prosciutto crudo, and fried egg. It was quite heavy but also delicious, with the strong scent of cheese. Kind of reminded me of Raclette or fondue cheese. Definitely filling and warm for the tummy on a cold winter's day. Other tables around us had a variety of sausages and cheese fondue, and the outdoor seating seemed quite filled up, so I think this place is pretty good for Swiss specialties in an idyllic setting.

With an 8 minute walk from the station to the lodge, it's easy for those who walk on a regular basis, but difficult for non-walkers with luggage. To get to St. Moritz, it's an 8 minute walk to the station, then another 5 minutes of train. I shared a quad room which had a pull-out bed on the first floor and two single beds in the loft with each bed having a night stand and electrical outlet and plenty of storage. For some reason, I thought breakfast was included, but there's a fee of 19 CHF, if I heard right. Fortunately, there's a mini kitchen where I could prepare my oatmeal on the stove (there are a few pots and equipment) and a Bosch (Nespresso-like) coffee machine where I can use my pods and a mini fridge to store lunch items and beverages. WiFi is complimentary. Since I was the youngest of the senior citizens I was relegated to the loft which has an attic window, but the weather was still warm and humid in early September. Not only is there no A/C, but there is no fan either. This is tough for a Californian. One of the perks of this place is FREE use of their laundry facilities. Bring your own detergent. While there is a sign for laundry hours (8am to 10p), I'm so glad it wasn't enforced as I was still doing laundry at 11pm. For our quick one night stay, this place was adequate, but too warm with bug bites in the morning.
