Best to make a reservation hours or 1 day in advance to get the better table in the back room surrounded by wine racks. Matteo was amazing with expert knowledge in all available wines and very fun demeanor and very attentive service. We ended up purchasing many bottles of wine (that we had tasted through their numerous wine tasting menu) and had them shipped back to the States right on site. If you like wine paired with amazing meats and cheeses, this is undoubtedly the place to go. Also recommended by all the locals we interacted with. Enjoy!!

It's a small operation that does it right. I had the most incredible bruschetta of my life. A white buffalo style creamy cheese layered on toasted bread with fresh, red full flavored tomatoes. This is not the traditional version but order it. Their wild boar pasta was excellent along with the cacio and pepe pasta. The pasta was cooked to perfection. The service was good, kind owner, cutest location and small menu is delicious. How this is flying under the radar I'm shocked. Also you can have some food here, there are some small sandwiches (fish, meet and vegetable one)... The bruschette are also very good. Questo é uno dei miei locali preferiti in città, il mood è molto tradizionale scuola veneta, i il vino è abbastanza buono e relativamente economico. The red wine was local, with the same grape made for Barollo but with a different soil leading to a similar but different taste and it was magnificent. I had one glass, switched to a Chardonnay recommended by the waiter, which I enjoyed but preferred the first glass so I switched back for my third. All in all after four glasses of wine and a bottle to go the bill came to 94 euro, which I felt was reasonable. Each glass comes with a small snack. When I'm back in Varenna I will be back here.
