Ok. It's Alonso's. Thursday. Hit and miss over the years. Mostly hit... honestly. I keep going back because of the service. And the food. Sometimes... oftentimes, it's quite good. Pizza, burgers and wings. Calamari. They have new management and people from the Dizz. Reset. Foodies at the bar. Restaurant owner Tonight I looked at the menu. Lots of good options, the Rachel burger is always good, possibly the plain LTM & cheese. Maybe barbecue chicken pizza, often nice. I went for the crab cake platte at $24. Was $10 per cake as a salad add-on so I asked how many and of course, two. Comes with crispy fries. Sorry for the long buildup but these were the best crab cakes I've had in a very long while. Lumpy. Can taste the old bay... and crab. See the picture, I could only finish one. Sorry that you're looking at leftovers but I didn't expect this. This is a top notch crab cake. It is exactly what I hope for a crab cake to be. No special drizzle or remoulade on top, nothing fancy but well priced and worth the trip. I really mean it! Thanks Alonso's and have a good one. Great service as always btw. Sit at the bar for the best casual, no pressure, friendly, good-food experience. Update 4/1/20 Only FOOLS would not order delivery from here!! Man, same amazing crab cakes and a perfectly cooked burger. Wingers are awesome and Parmesan garlic tots are crispy. Order nobefore it's too late!!! Update 7/3 Oh man, Crabcake platter: It's like I'm eating crabs with my family on the porch and I'm back in the 70's. The flavor is perfect. Creamy, meaty lumpy Chesapeake goodness. Nailed it for the fifth time.

If you order from here, stick with the burgers. I ordered a thin-crust Caesar salad pizza. It's literally a Caesar salad thrown on top of a bare (not exactly thin) pizza crust. If I wasn't so hungry for pizza, I'd laugh. Who thought this was a good idea?? Or thought it counted as pizza??

I had a very nice lunch with what was one of the best Reuben sandwiches I've had in a long time yesterday. The corned beef was super thin and juicy and the bread was a delicious thick slice of homemade rye. Beers were cold and they had a good variety of local craft options. I'd go back for sure.

This place is pretty much the neighborhood bar people make TV shows about. When you sit there for about an hour you realize everyone seems to know each other. The happy hour specials are great. The beer is cheap and they have $5 the 1 lb burger menu items. The burger I had was full of flavor. I had the jalapeño variation. Take a look at the photo. With such great value this place is worth a visit.

We've been here for casual date nights, Valentine's dinner, and the last time we came was for our friends renewing their vows after 10 years of marriage. That alone says a lot about the kind of place it is. It fits both everyday moments and really meaningful ones. What stands out first is the atmosphere. There's a warmth to the space that makes it feel inviting right away. It has a rustic, polished look with a lot of character, but it never feels stiff or overly formal. It's the kind of place where you can tell thought was put into every detail, but it still feels comfortable enough to settle in and enjoy yourself. For me, the experience starts before the food even hits the table. The space has a calm, intentional energy to it. It's perfect for slowing things down and actually enjoying your time, especially with someone you care about. The food is where it really separates itself. Everything feels carefully prepared and well thought out. You can tell they care about ingredients, and that always comes through in the flavor. Nothing feels thrown together or generic. The menu itself gets you excited before you even order, and the food lives up to it. What I appreciate most is that it doesn't just feel like a place serving food, it feels like a place creating an experience. The dishes have personality. There's intention behind them. It's not about being flashy, it's about doing things right. The service adds to that as well. Every time we've gone, the staff has been friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive without hovering. It makes the whole experience feel smooth and relaxed. Another thing I like is that it feels distinctly Baltimore without feeling ordinary. It has a real identity to it, and that makes it memorable. My wife and I keep coming back because it feels like time well spent. Good food, great atmosphere, and the kind of place that actually stays with you after you leave. Overall, this is easily one of the more memorable dining experiences in Baltimore. Definitely worth it if you're looking for something that feels meaningful, not just another night out.

The menu is expansive and has an options for everyone, but the food was just......ok. Nothing stood out to me. The presentation of everything is beautiful, but the flavors were just lacking. I also tried the Mezcal cocktail that had egg white on top and it was just a very odd odor and the flavor profile was far too bitter. I typically love mezcal but this drink was terrible. I will say that the service was pleasant. My server was very kind, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Of all the things we ordered, including a pizza, burrata salad, meatball appetizer, s'mores Panna cotta, pasta, and a side of broccoli.... I'd say the best thing was the broccoli. And it was mid. I can't even point to what the exact issue is. Lack of seasoning I guess. Ceces has the location, the look, the presentation, the menu; they have everything except good food. I was so excited to try this place but left incredibly disappointed.

The food available for purchase was good, though when I visited the menu was limited, and they had run out of dessert. That was disappointing; however, the owner was kind enough to comp us for the missing dessert, which I appreciated. Be aware that the atmosphere can get a bit rowdy, depending on the guests in nearby pods. There is also a BYOB option, which my group and I fully took advantage of. Unfortunately, I left smelling heavily of smoke in my hair, clothes, and even my purse absorbed the odor. The host/hostess area is dark and not clearly identifiable. The staff and owner are very nice. The owner directed the server to take us to a private room, since we were first time patrons, but failed to mention the upcharge, which was significant. It was a holiday, so the menu was pre-set with a flat charge. We had to ask, no one volunteered the pricing, it wasn't indicated on the special menu. The service was extremely slow, even for a holiday. We waited excessively for everything. It took more than a half hour for our dinner order to be taken, after we consumed our appetizer/salad. No check-in, no refill ask , but it was a holiday, so... But they were all very nice and courteous. The private room concept was awesome. I was planning to return with a larger party. There is a TV and music in the rooms, temperature controlled. Really nice concept. I would have let everything go and still returned to the facility, but for the failure to inform of the $100 upcharge, which the hostess did discount down to $50, because she "knew they didn't mention it" beforehand. It had happened before. Im really salty about that. That is a failure on the owner. My other safety concern is that the entrance should be better monitored/staff attended when patrons are in private rooms with limited to of line of sight to the entrance or open area.

Brunch at Elliott's Craft Kitchen: A Promising Start With a Few Missed Beats…read more.. I recently visited Elliott's Craft Kitchen a fairly new spot that my group of four decided to try out for brunch. We were hoping for a fresh experience, but our visit turned out to be a mixed bag. Ambiance and First Impressions... When we arrived, the restaurant was surprisingly empty, which was a bit of a head-scratcher for brunch time. Even though we could hear staff chatting in the back, it took a good five to eight minutes before anyone came out to seat us. Once we were seated, we noticed the lighting was so dim that we actually had to whip out our phones just to read the menu. Not exactly the cozy brunch vibe we were hoping for. The Food: Hits and Misses... On to the food. We started with the cream of crab soup, which was just okay--nothing to write home about. The Brussels sprouts were a bit of a letdown. They were tiny and mostly just fried leaves rather than the hearty sprouts we expected. So if you're imagining those classic roasted Brussels sprouts, this wasn't it. The chicken and waffles were decent in flavor, although the presentation could have used some polish. The pita bread for the crab dip could have been toasted or something more firm and doesn't taste like it was immediately pulled from a bag. Surprisingly, the star of the meal ended up being something as simple as the French fries. They were really tasty and stood out more than some of the fancier dishes. Service and the Final Stretch... Our server was kind and polite, which we appreciated. But the big hiccup came at the end. Their payment system went down, and we ended up waiting over 30 minutes just to settle the bill. After sitting for about 15 minutes we informed our server that we would like to wait in the lounge area to get more comfortable as I understand.... things happen. Although while we waited for about 20 minutes there were no offers of water or anything to make the wait less awkward (not to mention asking for payment without even presenting a bill). It felt like they were more focused on turning the table than making sure we were okay during the delay. Although maybe it was an awkward start to the morning. I will say our server did her best to work things out with the technology she was given. So, I still provided her a fair tip, not her fault. Value for Money... In terms of pricing, it felt pretty average overall, but there were a few eyebrow-raisers. For instance, the avocado toasted croissant--topped with over-easy eggs, baby spinach, and Grana Padano--was $19, which felt a bit steep for what it was. In comparison, a pork schnitzel dish was around $21. So, while the pricing wasn't outrageous, some items definitely made me pause and question the value. Overall Thoughts... In the end, my experience at Elliott's Craft Kitchen was a bit of a letdown. So I'm surprised by some of the reviews (maybe because it was not dinner). While there were a few highlights (like the fries and a well-made Old Fashioned), the service hiccups and the underwhelming dishes mean I'd probably think twice before going back. Definitely not for brunch but I would really consider Dinner after some more reviews. Hopefully they'll iron out the kinks as they get more established.
