Ok. It's Alonso's. Thursday. Hit and miss over the years. Mostly hit... honestly. I keep going back because of the service. And the food. Sometimes... oftentimes, it's quite good. Pizza, burgers and wings. Calamari. They have new management and people from the Dizz. Reset. Foodies at the bar. Restaurant owner Tonight I looked at the menu. Lots of good options, the Rachel burger is always good, possibly the plain LTM & cheese. Maybe barbecue chicken pizza, often nice. I went for the crab cake platte at $24. Was $10 per cake as a salad add-on so I asked how many and of course, two. Comes with crispy fries. Sorry for the long buildup but these were the best crab cakes I've had in a very long while. Lumpy. Can taste the old bay... and crab. See the picture, I could only finish one. Sorry that you're looking at leftovers but I didn't expect this. This is a top notch crab cake. It is exactly what I hope for a crab cake to be. No special drizzle or remoulade on top, nothing fancy but well priced and worth the trip. I really mean it! Thanks Alonso's and have a good one. Great service as always btw. Sit at the bar for the best casual, no pressure, friendly, good-food experience. Update 4/1/20 Only FOOLS would not order delivery from here!! Man, same amazing crab cakes and a perfectly cooked burger. Wingers are awesome and Parmesan garlic tots are crispy. Order nobefore it's too late!!! Update 7/3 Oh man, Crabcake platter: It's like I'm eating crabs with my family on the porch and I'm back in the 70's. The flavor is perfect. Creamy, meaty lumpy Chesapeake goodness. Nailed it for the fifth time.

If you order from here, stick with the burgers. I ordered a thin-crust Caesar salad pizza. It's literally a Caesar salad thrown on top of a bare (not exactly thin) pizza crust. If I wasn't so hungry for pizza, I'd laugh. Who thought this was a good idea?? Or thought it counted as pizza??

I had a very nice lunch with what was one of the best Reuben sandwiches I've had in a long time yesterday. The corned beef was super thin and juicy and the bread was a delicious thick slice of homemade rye. Beers were cold and they had a good variety of local craft options. I'd go back for sure.

This place is pretty much the neighborhood bar people make TV shows about. When you sit there for about an hour you realize everyone seems to know each other. The happy hour specials are great. The beer is cheap and they have $5 the 1 lb burger menu items. The burger I had was full of flavor. I had the jalapeño variation. Take a look at the photo. With such great value this place is worth a visit.

Everything was delicious, and the patio was a great place to unwind after our hike. The music --a high-energy playlist from the night before (i assumed) still on an active loop. Although we were there on a Monday at lunchtime, the dining area quickly became busy and loud. We ordered some crab dip, which they were able to provide some gluten-free bread for. I really liked the crab dip! It was creamy and flavorful. After placing some salad orders, the food came out, but we were not brought utensils to eat. The meat was not cooked how we asked for it to be, and one of the plates had to be sent back to be cooked more. After around 20 minutes, we were finally given forks to start eating. I ordered the Ahi Tuna Salad and despite my fish being a bit underdone, it was pretty good. I wish there was more dressing on the salad though because it was a bit bland and dry. It also seemed like our waiter was super stressed as he was genuinely running through the restaurant at times.

Brunch was understood here. The French toast was very nice and not heavy despite its massive quantity. The flavors complimented each other all the way until the last bite. The Montecristo sandwich was balanced savory and sweet flawlessly. This was a hearty selection and could be shared with two. The cheese grits had to be made by someone's grandma IYKYK. The cowboy bacon I could just have a tray of it as it was a flavor bomb covering heat, sweet, salty, savory, and smokey. The staff was super friendly and accommodating working as a team. The table next to me was promptly provided with hot fries upon request due to the original order being "cold". A few minutes passed by and boom hot fresh fries. I had no clue about village and the assortment of shops and restaurants. I'm super happy I stumbled across it and found the hidden gems. They nailed it. 4.8 out of 5

Like many other reviewers, we found it very difficult to locate the restaurant within the plaza. Once we arrived, we were seated quickly, and the initial service was prompt. I also want to acknowledge one aspect of the service that I genuinely appreciated. As someone with celiac disease, dining out can be stressful, yet the staff were attentive to my dietary needs, offered several safe options, and clearly communicated which items might not be appropriate for me to eat. That level of awareness and consideration made me feel welcomed and cared for, and I am grateful for it. Hence, I feel comfortable, providing one star for that purpose. That being said, there were a few moments later when we had trouble finding our waitress after requesting changes to our order. Unfortunately, the changes to our order ultimately became necessary because the food simply was not good. My husband and I both ordered the shrimp and grits. I ordered mine without sausage, while he kept it as prepared. The grits were gummy, sticky, and overly cheesy, something I never imagined I would complain about. As a Black Indigenous American woman, shrimp and grits represents far more than a menu item to me. It is a dish shaped by generations of cultural exchange and resilience, drawing from Indigenous corn traditions and the culinary practices carried by African ancestors and preserved within Gullah Geechee communities. Because of that rich heritage, I hold this dish in high regard. Unfortunately, this version felt disconnected from the flavors, textures, and history that make shrimp and grits such a meaningful part of Southern food traditions. My husband ultimately sent his meal back and ordered the fish sandwich instead, which he also found disappointing. I added an egg to my dish in hopes that it might improve the experience, but it arrived long after I had already lost the desire to continue eating. I was also surprised that, in a state with such a strong military presence, particularly in Baltimore, there didn't offer a military discount. What saddens me most is that we chose this restaurant over several other options because of the overwhelmingly positive reviews. I believe honest reviews matter, both for future customers and for owners who genuinely want feedback to improve. We spent our money expecting a memorable treat to celebrate my recovery and instead left feeling disappointed and regretful. Looking back, I wish I had asked for a refund while we were there. Honestly, my husband is still upset upset that he spent his money. Despite having the funds available, he believes we would've been better off having a meal at home.

Oddly enough, it was pretty quiet, but they do have the games on for anyone looking for a low-key spot to watch. We were seated within 5 minutes, which I appreciated. Our server, Patrick, was... okay. Not terrible, but definitely felt new to serving. We didn't get the rundown of the daily specials (yet overheard them being given to the booth behind us), and a few small service details slipped through--but I'm giving him grace based on his newness. One thing I noticed from Yelp reviews is that bread is usually served automatically. We had to request it, especially after seeing tables seated after us get theirs first. Not a dealbreaker, but noticeable. We ordered several appetizers, and honestly, they were filling enough to be a full meal: * Ribs - Flavorful, tender, and genuinely falling off the bone. The portion sizes were a bit inconsistent--some pieces were cut shorter than others--but the texture was on point. I'd definitely return for these. * Brussels Sprouts - Patrick didn't mention they were shareable, which would've been helpful. I did like the flavor, but in hindsight I'm glad we pivoted to... * Crab Dip - This one missed for me. The flavor leaned more tuna-ish than crab-forward. Not my preference, but you may feel differently. * Shrimp in Spicy Butter - Definitely spicy, but somehow still flavorless. More like spicy water than a seasoned butter sauce. The one bonus? They were served piping hot--exactly how I like my food. * French Fries - Hand-cut and tasty. A solid win. Unfortunately, everything except the shrimp came out lukewarm, which took away from dishes that could've been great. Temperature matters! On the drink side, though? Hits all around. The fresh-pressed beet juice was fantastic, and the sweet tea was also on point. We skipped dessert only because we were full, but I'm already planning to come back specifically to try it--along with the ribs and fries again. Overall, I'm hoping this was just an off day. Elliott's Kitchen has potential, and I'd like to see it shine on the next visit
