Aloha Manapua just opened last week In Kapahulu, the last week of September 2026. They have a deal on Mini Rainbow Manapuas, at a$1.5 each. They are colored to differentiate between the six or so varieties that are offered. I chose the vegan, green mini. A bit underseasoned, filled with the typical Chinese vegetarian fillings...harkening back to my own vegetarian days. Underseasoned is not a bad thing as you can always add , e.g. hoisin. i did get a baked Duck Manapua and it was okay. Lukewarm. I like duck better than chicken. I dated a woman long-distance some years back...she showed me a PETA video and what they do to chickens and foxes for food and fur...disgusting. I still feel a bit guilty when i eat poultry or red meat. Service was slow. Employees were cordial. Hours are from 900a to 800p daily. The Wong Shopping Plaza offers parking stalls to patrons of Aloha Manapua and other establishments like Pai Cafe and GNC. Dedicated entrance is on Kapahulu Ave. Exits ( exclusive ) are on Kapahulu and Winam Avenues. The entrance on Kapahulu is on the Diamond Head side of the plaza; the exit is on the Ewa side of Kapahulu Ave. They are about to open a Kapolei location besides their Waipahu, Waimalu, and Manoa locales. They have central kitchen in Kalihi.

I love dim sum, it is possibly my favorite comfort food! Living on East Honolulu, the only dim sum places are Happy Days and Harbor Village (food and service are hit or miss). The recent storm destroyed Happy Days's building; I don't believe they will ever reopen; plus they're kind of already going downhill with food and service. We are really excited to try a new dim sum place in Kapahulu, the one week old Aloha Manapua. There is a small parking lot in the front, but it was full, so we ended up with a street-metered parking space across the street. Yes, there're dim sum places in Chinatown, but the locals know you kinda don't really want to go there if you don't have to! The restaurant is small but really nice, bright, clean and comfortable with 5 or 6 tables inside and a few more tables outside. The service is super friendly and accommodating. The owner was so cute and friendly; she goes around to talk to all the customers and offer samples to try. She made us feel so welcomed and valued. The food is really delicious and the dim sum comes out hot and fresh. We ordered over 10 things to try and everything was hot and delicious. Needless to say we had lots of leftovers to take home. Our favorites were the shrimp siu mai, steamed pork ribs, bean curd rolls, and the pineapple custard buns. The dreamy buns have a crispy sugary fondant on the outside and a creamy custard filling. Oh, don't forget to try the house-made chili oil, it wasn't too spicy but full of umami; the owner said it was the chef's special recipe made from mushrooms and chilis; it actually has a little sweet after note. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are generous. We can't wait to come back to try more dishes. Good job, Aloha Manapua!

I was thrilled to learn that Aloha Manapua opened a location on Kapahula which is close to my condo. At my first opportunity, I rushed over and placed a to-go order of steamed veggie manapua, shrimp har gow and vegan half moon. I had to wait for the food because some of dishes they were still making fresh. Everything was delicious and satisfying, even the complimentary pre-mixed mustard soy dipping sauce was just right. The interior and exterior areas are clean and bright, the lady taking the orders is very nice and patient and she took the time to tell me about the special of the day. I hope they do well and stay in business because good takeout dim sum is my favorite snack!

Ginger chicken

We came in for a quick snack because we wanted to try the signature fried ginger chicken and also got a couple baked manapua and a football. I was a little disappointed in the chicken because it wasn't golden brown crispy, and was kind of pale and seemed as if it had been sitting. I think I'm more used to the ginger and scallions more finely chopped and tempered with some hot oil. This wasn't it and was sort of clunky to eat. The manapua was filled well, but the dough was the heaviest I've ever had. Football was okay. Folks were friendly and there's a small parking lot out front. Might check it out again after it's been there awhile.

Very good!

It's definitely worth coming here! Food is really good! We had the ginger fried chicken and it was really delicious and crispy. We also ate the house special noodles and it didn't disappoint. We'll definitely be coming back to this place

Amazing Ube Manapua! A Hidden Gem in Kapahulu! We stopped by Aloha Manapua in Kapahulu today and tried four different flavors: Ube, Chicken, Vegetable, and Char Siu! My absolute favorite was the Ube Manapua! The filling was incredibly delicious. It wasn't just a simple sweet potato filling -- it had this wonderful creamy, milky flavor that made it extra special. So rich, smooth, and satisfying! I also loved that their manapua are slightly smaller than the usual size, which makes it easy and fun to try several different flavors in one visit. The vegetable manapua is also a great option for anyone looking for something without meat. It's always a pleasure to discover local spots like this. Definitely worth stopping by if you're in the Kapahulu area! Support local businesses! Mahalo, Aloha Manapua!

Tried out this new dim sum place in Kaapahulu in the location of the former poke restaurant Parking: enterance is on Kapahulu ave (one way) - they no longer use the vendor who had customers scan and pay for parking lectronically- limited number of Parking staĺls Atmosphere: clean and bright with good spacing between the tables(each with four chairs) seating for at least 32 Staffing- very customer focused and listened to our request attentively Ordering- scan the QR code was available but the POS system wasn't working so we needed to order through the staff Positives-food came freshly prepared and hot -except the dan tat custard which came out before our meals *bao bread is very light in texture and a little on the sweet side-recommend trying very nice *turnip cake tastes like it is made fresh and has great flavor *Egg custard- nice crust and custard has good egg flavor ( note crust is not the flakey type) *house special Fried chicken with onion gInger- good size portion : enough to share- (it filled the large dinner plate). boneless battered chicken smothered with the sauce . SAUCE is very ginger forward- (needs a little more salt) *Stuffed deep fried battered eggplant- awesome- great flavor and crunchy *Shanghai noodles- suprisingly good flavor but lacking presentation- photo has more toppings like the shrimp and roast pork . I didn't smell the curry but it did have the correct flavors. *chili oil- they make their own blend which has a slight sweet flavor due to the preserved veggies- note that the oil is. NOT hot **Dissapointment: Dried scallops dim sum Had no flavor of the dried scallops ++Interesting addition to the restaurant scene in kaapahulu -also another addition to this restaurant chain wish them the best!

The food is great! I especially love their manapua--they're so tasty and full of flavor. Everything I tried tasted authentic and really hit the spot. I'll definitely be coming back for more!

fried ginger chicken!

So good! Went here yesterday for dinner and of course I came for the ginger chicken...and for sure it is definitely worth the hype! huge plate for under $20, we also got dim sum and some peking duck which was super nice because it's hard to find dim sum spots open late :P Staff was super sweet and attentive plus since it's their soft opening, we got to take home a manapua! I got a hot dog one! (i ate it)

This review is a consolidation of the past like 4-5 times I've came. Last few times I ordered: - Taro Puffs: One of my absolute favorites. I just wish sometimes it was a bit more fresh/hot. Most of the times it comes out just luke warm, which makes it taste more greasy. - Lotus Leaf Sticky Rice always comes out pipping out. Rice is plump and sticky. The filling is flavorful. I don't care for the lup chup but most don't mind. - Chicken Feet: usually good, there was a few misses. Maybe we came too early but the chicken feet wasn't as soft and cooked through as usual. - Look fun rolls: soft, bouncy and so delicious with soy sauce. - Fried shrimp balls: crowd favorite, it is simple and never misses - Sui Mai: also another crowd pleaser, a classic dimsum dish. - Seafood Roll: has seafood, meat, and veggies within. It is quite salty though, like almost a bit too salty. Also it's outer texture can be considered as "slimy" which may push some folks away. - Beef Ball: It is very QQ, however, it has a very distinctive flavor. Very cilantro heavy, - Pan-fried seafood dumpling: it has shrimp and chives within. Crispy and the skin is bouncy, another crowd favorite. - Spring Roll: surprising hitter for me. I know spring roll is the classic dish, but I almost never order because many times it could be a disappointing oily stick. However, this one was delicious. Savory, with a crisp crunch. - Black Pepper Steak: I wouldn't exactly recommend ordering this dish. As much as it is flavorful, since the steak is cubed, some bites are just a bit too tough and chewy. Not all, but definitely some, enough to notice. - Baked Custard Bun: they almost NEVER have this, no matter the time I come. Very sad. I think I've gotten it like once, since they moved locations, it is one of my favorite baked Chinese treats. - Egg Tarts: flaky, eggy (in a good way), recommended. - Baked Char Sui Bun: Not bad, the top is crunchy and very sweet. Overall, I would heavily recommend this spot. It can sometimes be noisy, and sometimes completely empty. I would also note that the dimsum is on the pricier side compared to most of the dimsum spots on the island, especially after they moved.

We were able to load up on delicious dim sum before heading to the airport and it was a great last stop. The half moons were AMAZING. I believe these are more popular here (I certainly haven't seen them on the east coast but will keep an eye out), and I know I'll be thinking about them when I'm back in NYC. The portions were MASSIVE! Seriously, the size of the dim sum here is something I'm going to miss. The black-eyed bean jung was another standout. Absolutely PACKED with filling, flavorful, and so satisfying. They do not skimp here! Everything felt generous, comforting, and delicious. I'm genuinely sad about not having this back home. An absolute must-visit, and definitely somewhere I'll be returning to the next time I'm in Hawaii!

Better late than never, but come too late and missed out on the good stuff?…read more Honolulu Seafood Restaurant is a sister restaurant to Kapiolani Seafood Restaurant. Located in Downtown in the same space where Yong Sing, Mandalay, and the short-lived Bourbon Street used to be. Inside feels and looks essentially the same as the prior restaurants. Huge, open, two levels. Would you believe there was once a time where the second floor was an option to sit because it was just that busy? Hours is basically 10am everyday till 3pm, then 5-930pm. Seems like the hours are geared towards Downtown workers. Where to park? 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday, park in the Ali'i Place Parking garage. Entrance is right past the restaurant. Only 75 cents per half hour and restaurant validates one dollar. After 5pm on weekdays, and 8-1am on weekends, park at Bishop Square Parking. Entrance is across from the restaurant, entrance from the left lane of Alakea. Cost is $1.50 with validation. The regular menu is exactly the same as Kapiolani Seafood Restaurant. However, the dim sum is not the case. It's much, much less. There's only 16 total, and 7 more on weekends only. It's essentially the bare basics (but no beef ball!). All the dim sum looks exactly the same as Kapiolani Seafood Restaurant, but everything was on the bland side and just felt like it was missing something. Steamed Spareribs was one note and meat was not as tender. Beef Look Funn was good. The look funn had perfect thinness and texture. If have this dish, how come cannot have steamed beef balls? Chicken Feet was good. Soft, tasty, and meaty. But just ate and felt one note. Pan Fried Shrimp and Chives Dumplings was pretty good. Pan fried very well. Generous amount of filling. Just on the bland side. Chicken Sticky Rice in Lotus Leaf was pretty good! Soft, moist mochi rice with a good amount of tasty filling. The Bean Curd Roll with Pork was probably the most flavorful dim sum of the meal. Jam-packed with tasty and flavorful filling. Overall, the dim sum was decent and almost similar to Kapiolani Seafood, but it was a touch on the bland side and a slight step below. Service was good. Friendly and attentive. Food came out pretty quick. Inside was cool, spacious, and comfortable. I want to come back on my lunch break! I don't mind dim sum'ing solo! Hopefully there'll be more dim sum choices. I remember seeing on social media they had some unique items only at this location. But I guess I'm too late! **I heard some news, maybe rumors, but the Kapiolani Seafood location might be forced to move due to that and the next lot being torn down for..... you guessed it, more condos! Portions are well worth driving into Chinatown. We parked in the public parking entrance on N. Nimitz Highway which costs three dollars per half an hour. There is no validation in the restaurant. Hold onto the larger ticket. Be sure to have a pen with you and write down the stall number on smaller ticket. Leave the smaller ticket on the dashboard of your vehicle. If you're vegetarian, no worries either, they have an incredible sweet potato filling, among other options. Conveniently stamped on the bun and printed on the box so you know what is what.
