Wasn't greeted at all and didn't feel quite welcome in the restaurant when ordering. However, the poke bowl was prepared very quickly in about 5 minutes and I was on my way. The food was overall pretty good. They add a variety of toppings and the crab salad goes really well with the poke bowl. I ordered a large portion and it was very filling. They have a cute bartop to sit at (once we return to some normalcy). They have poke, sashimi, poke bowls, or salads that you can buy. They have cooked options too, but I'm a raw fish kinda gal. Their ingredients are quality (I'm super picky on my fish in particular) and the portions are filling. Their Sushi cake is unbelievable! Ordered for my Birthday, and all of our guests agreed it was the best things we've ever had! The fish was some of the best ever, particularly the salmon. The decorations and artistry on the top were just incredible - we almost hated to cut into it. Perfectly decorated. And the rice under the sashimi was unlike anything we've ever had - layer upon layer of different things, including ahi and crab. This wasn't inexpensive, but it was worth every penny. And the owners take such pride in their what they put out. PS: We've also had the Chirashi bowl and the ahi salads. Both were exceptional. This place is another neighborhood secret find that I really don't want everyone flocking to for selfish reasons. The service is ALWAYS friendly and fast. The quality and portions are great. This is literally the only place where my picky 8yr old will even eat fish. The prices have gone up but I think it's fair and to keep this business open is well worth a small price hike. I ordered thru IG bit of short notice and they accommodated me so that we could make the cake happen in the time I needed which was really awesome and I appreciated so much. When I picked it up, we had just gotten some bad news and let them know the celebration was cancelled but we still were going to eat it for lunch. They were so sincere about their condolences and it was such a great transaction even as I was holding in tears. We brought the cake home and OMG it was sooo tasty. The estimated time was at least 20 mins. The menu isn't that big but if you love poke, I'm sure you'll find something. The wasabi masago poke was delicious! The salmon sashimi was fresh just small cuts. The shoyu poke was good. That crab salad though, awesome! I wanted to give Aloha Cones a try a few times before I gave a review of the place. After a scrumptious fourth try, the verdict is in; drum roll, please! Aloha Cones has amazing poke and sushi bowls. It's not just poke and rice, in a bowl. It also comes with sides that resemble, as my wifey eloquently put it, "a deconstructed California roll". Cool cucumbers, a delectable imitation crab salad, appetizing edamame, and an ocean (seaweed) salad so fresh it's like they collected it from the Pacific Ocean just moments before adding it to my order. This last sentence might be a bit too wordy and overloaded, but that's exactly how I felt about the bowl. It was very filling and I was satisfied with my spicy ahi/shrimp tempura combo down to the last grain of rice. The only qualms I have about this place is the parking. The small parking lot in the back is not nearly enough to handle the patrons of the multi-business building that Aloha Cones resides in. After finally nabbing a parking spot, I couldn't simply enter through the door at the rear, but instead I had to walk all the way around the corner fronting School Street and enter from the front. Of course, as with everything else, COVID-19 has forced businesses to change their policies. I say this to inform you that you may have to take extra precautions to keep yourself and others safe (i.e. sanitizing hands, wearing face masks, entering the establishment one person at a time, etc.). The food here is excellent and though the prices may be higher than some other poke/sushi bowl places, you will probably agree with me that the food is well worth your hard-earned kala. read more

Went here about a month ago for the first time after about a year and a half hiatus while living in Makakilo (and rarely drove into town) and while pregnant and I was really disappointed! I've frequented this establishment a few times already and I can't tell you how much I enjoy the poke here. My favorites/go-to are the Wasabi Masago Ahi Poke and the Spicy Tuna Poke. I usually order mine on a bed of their delicious salad with sliced cucumbers and diced tomatoes. Oh and their Asian dressing is sooo good, a perfect balance of sweet and savory! If you sell your Asian dressing I would buy a bottle. I like the fact the the Spicy Tuna does not contain any mayonnaise. It's not that I don't like mayonnaise but some places really lay on the mayonnaise thick to the point that you can only eat so much before getting sick to your stomach, at least that's my experience. So we finally visited them at their new location. Go mauka on Waikamilo and parking is on the right just before the corner of School St. The lot is pretty small so bring a small car. If no luck then it's the street parking hunt. But believe me, it's worth it. As was in the old place near Board of Water Supply, the fish is yum! Lots of different poke bowls that also can be subbed as a salad for those watching the carbs. Had the salmon rice bowl with lovely fatty pieces of salmon. Also had the mini wasabi masago ahi bowl ($8) and a shrimp tempura extra. All were tasty and the tempura was light and not greasy. The kamaboko salad was really tasty. Of the two, the spicy tuna poke was more spicy; hence, it's name lol. What sets this place apart from others is the quality and freshness. And I have to say the crab salad was a lovely addition to the rice bowl. Yum. I went around 12noon. 4 people in front of me. Got a little more crowded as time went on.
