Wow! We drove in from Houston to do the zip line tour over Lake Travis and were unsure of whether we should stay the night in Austin. After hearing so many people recommend experiencing 6th street, I started browsing hotels. While I must admit, I only booked because the rate was phenomenal. Extremely lower than other hotels with great ratings so I was a little apprehensive. What's the catch? Hmm. We arrived and guess what? Complimentary valet! Awesome. Customer service? They were so nice and personable. Check in went very smooth and there weren't any hidden fees or add ons (which is rare when booking through a third party site like booking.com) We went up to our room and although it is quite small, WE LOVED IT! My boyfriend even commented "oh yeah Danielle, you did it with this one!" The shower was great! The large mirror on the rolling door? Perfect! The bed was so comfortable. The restaurant connected to the hotel is delicious too! Yum! Next time I visit Austin, I will be staying here FOR SURE! read more

The best part of this hotel is the lobby/lounge/bar/pool area. It is really well-designed and very comfortable. Has a cozy and intimate feel, even though each area is completely open to the other. The check-in and food area is clever and very non-traditional, I really liked it. The rooms are also very creatively designed. It is not your typical hotel room set up, thank goodness for a change! The room we stayed in was a King and the only fault I saw was there was not a comfortable chair to sit in if you didn't want to sit on the bed. The only seating in the room is a desk chair and an upholstered bench under the flat screen television. Other than that, I really couldn't ask more considering the room rate and location. It really is a place for people that like to be able to walk to nearby shopping and dining. That was so convenient. Big time meh for this place, especially given the price. Overall, the staff was friendly and I could tell that the rooms were being cleaned, but it still didn't ever feel clean. We checked in on a Friday afternoon around 5pm, and noticed some messes in the hallway leading to our room. These messes weren't cleaned until nearly 24 hours later. The biggest issue were the rooms: 1) Small with not alot of natural light. 2) I'm told this hotel is fairly new, but the rooms felt old. While I could tell the room had been cleaned, linens changed, etc. - it never felt clean. The carpet was thin and I didn't feel like germs were lurking there so much as in between the tiles in the bathroom. They had these brick like tiles with larger spaces in between and the grout looked dirty. Made me want shower shoes. In a nearly $200/night hotel (that's with a discounted group rate) 3) Thin walls. We heard a baby crying during most of our stay. 4) 1 single thin, low quality blanket on bed. I just feel extremely disappointed, especially for the price. Probably would have preferred a Hampton Inn over this "trendy" "boutique" hotel. Next time will just stay at the Westin! read more

I really enjoyed my stay here. I was in town for a job interview, and was booked here for three nights. Check-in was immediate, the room was immaculate, and they called up to make sure everything was OK. The staff were friendly and efficient. The room was modern and had a *very* comfortable bed. After a full day of interviews, I slept very well on it. The TV has a decent channel selection from DirecTV. The wifi is free, fast, and reliable. The food and beverage coupons for declining housekeeping - a green initiative - were a nice bonus, and I received three $10 coupons as well. I don't know if those one-a-night coupons are standard. Their food cooler has a lot of options, and reasonable prices. The bar is great, and the bartender made a custom cocktail I had not seen outside of one bar in Vegas; I gave him the recipe, and there it was. Also, their selection of travel necessities is thorough, including something I forgot to get: a travel-size bottle of contact lens solution. That was a gift from the gods. Highly recommended. You'll get a lot for the money here. And as for noise, I had no issues. And if it is a problem for you, you really should travel with earplugs. read more

This place was great location for us, there was Whole Foods nearby to grab some food, was able to meet up with friends in town, and also there was free parking in the structure nearby. Yes. I can live here for a week. Convenience in location, comfort of the living space and the customer service. It was all extraordinarily comfortable. I rarely splurge on hotels because if I'm on vacation, I'm hardly in the room except to crash, but this time I needed a place I could work and crash. And it exceeded my expectations. I was able to party, work, party some more, sight see, and then just lounge in my room very comfortably. The only snag was the lack of Premium Channels on the nflatscreen TV. But really if you're in the Domain, watching HBO is not your top priority. All in all, excellent stay. I want to live here. read more

My husband had a really good experience during our six-night stay at this hotel. We can't say enough good things about the staff--the front desk was incredibly helpful with anything we needed. Always cheerful. The room cleaning crew was the hardest working I've ever experienced in a hotel any where in the world, including top hotels. In fact, they cleaned harder than the cleaning ladies I've had in my homes through the years. Unbelievable! The only reason I did not give a 5-star rating was because on Friday and Saturday nights, the roar of race cars raged on from midnight until the bars closed (one street over) at 3 am. Also around 3 am every night the loud sound of trash collection woke us from a dead sleep. If you are going to stay in this hotel, it's a must you request a room facing the front entrance of the hotel. read more

We got a great deal per night with this hotel and decided to check it out. The hotel was very nice. The decor was awesome and up to date. The staff here were friendly as we had so many questions to ask about where to go around Austin. They help suggest restaurants as well. Our room was very nice. We did have a problem with the AC as when we lowered the tempature the room got so cold but then when we raised the tempature up, the room got too hot. We couldn't get a comfortable tempature in the room. The rooms offer complimentary bottled water each day which I thought was nice as most hotels charge you $7 per a bottle of water in the room. Housekeeping was really slow as we were gone all morning, came back to our room not clean. When we left and came back around 3 pm housekeeping was barely starting on our room which was annoying as we really wanted to relax in our room before venturing out. I really wish the hotel kept up with cleaning up all the dead bugs that hung around the gym and open areas. Now lets talk about the bar that is in the hotel: WXYZ. We wanted to try out some martinis here and our bartender wasn't really friendly. We were standing there for a bit to even try to order a drink as he talked away with his friends on the other side of the bar. I ordered the Oatmeal Cookie Martini which was horrible. I told him the drink didn't taste great and he says "Sorry" and walks away. I remained at the bar til he came back and he realized I wasn't going to drink my Oatmeal Cookie Martini. He finally asked if I wanted to get something else in which I got the Reese Peanut Butter Martini which again was horrible. The only thing I liked about this drink was the Reese Peanut Butter cup that garnished the rim of my glass. My friend wanted to possibly try a different drink and the bartender said oh no please don't order another drink last call is at 11:30. Hmmm It was 11:15 pm and the bar closes at midnight? When we come back to Austin, this is the place to stay but I don't think I will visit the bar anymore. read more

This is the 4th different hotel I am trying in Austin, and for the price point, this is really the absolute best option, and here is why: - Location, location, location - Neiuman Marcus and a bunch of CHAIN restaurants are a few steps away; WholeFoods market is about 5 minute walk - Staff is super friendly and helpful, especially the guy doing night shift (Ray, I think) - he is AWESOME! - 24 hour snack shop that carries fruits and fresh salads - Bar downstairs service cocktails and wines until midnight - Pet friendly - my sister's Yorkie will be sleeping in comfort of a special bed with treats and tennis balls - They just get it done... you ask, and YOU GOT IT! Not to mention that the property is very new and stylish, nice to be inside. My BF and I spontaneously decided to take a trip down to Austin for Memorial Day Weekend! This decision was made one week before, and I was in charge of finding a place for us to stay! My usual go-to is www.airbnb.com when looking for a place to stay on vacation, but unfortunately everything was either already booked or way over-priced. After frantically searching one insomniac night, I found Aloft Austin at The Domain for about $150 a night (Which I hear isn't so bad for a night in Austin, especially on a holiday weekend). Overall, we enjoyed the place. It is very clean, spacious and modern. They offer free Wi-Fi, a connectivity station that links to a 42" LCD TV, and Bliss Spa bath products. The staff was extremely friendly and they even had a live band playing in their lobby/seating area. I also liked that it was in The Domain, which made it easily accessible to shopping and food. One drawback was that this place was about a 20 minute drive to downtown, but that's really my only complaint. read more

Ya know how when you go to Ikea you walk in and out of all of the room displays and you're like "oh..this is cute"..."wow...look at that!". Well, its one thing to walk in and out of those displays freely...totally different to have to dwell in one for two days. I'm looking out of my hotel window (and although all I see is the roof top) I imagine on the other side is the Westin where I'd much rather be...with their big squishy beds and bathroom doors. I'm pretty positive I could make this room on my own from Ikea for probably $100. But if that's your thing you'd love this place! I more of a crate and barrel/west elm kinda gal. 5 stars just for the awesome staff! Seriously, they are so friendly and helpful whenever you need something. This hotel is located adjacent to the Domain, a "lifestyle" center full of shopping, restaurants, etc. Aloft is a division of the W hotels, but with a more youthful and casual feel. The location is great if you don't have a car - plenty of places within walking distance. The rooms are contemporary and can feel a little like a trendy dorm. However, the space is well laid out, the beds are very comfortable, and you are provided with all the amenities you would ever need included in the room's price. Added bonus: They are pet-friendly and they don't charge an extra fee for your pet to stay! read more

Excellent modern hotel conveniently located to all types of restaurants, entertainment options, and shopping PLUS great customer service, awesome showers and comfy beds. We loved the layout of the room, and the multiple lighting options (odd comment, I know). I hate when hotels don't have multiple ways to light the room. It's either barely lit or dark in most hotels. Perfect balance in this particular hotel. Anyhow, on another note, the complimentary brewed coffee all day long was an added bonus for a coffee drinker like myself. I appreciate the little things. ;-) The only drawback...thin walls. Fortunately there weren't a lot of obnoxiously loud folks in the hallways, but it was easy to listen in on someone else's phone conversation just by walking by their room. Not a big deal and definitely not a reason to avoid this hotel. UPDATE 7/25/14: This hotel is definitely gets 4 stars from me ONLY IF you are on the 3rd floor or higher. Our checkin was amazing thanks to Taylor... She's a customer service rock star! My husband and I loved everything about this hotel, especially the design and decor. The room was spotless, bed was soft. Glass shower was beautiful! Instead of a lame "continental" breakfast, there is a self service snack bar area, and the option for several made to order items, which is nice. Beautiful common area, wish we had a chance to have a drink at the bar. We would stay here again, next time we're in Austin! read more

Pricey for what it is. The cools: 1. Pool table in the lobby 2. XYZ bar convenient 3. Great location to the Domain shops 4. Plenty of parking 5. Powerful toilets, trendy sinks The cons: 1. The pool is a joke 2. The powerful toilets are so loud you hear it in other rooms. 3. Lots of construction happening in the area and inside the hotel, and that was our view and what we heard all the time. A comp would've been nice. 4. The workers were a hit and miss. Some nice and some trying to achieve that "trendy snobby' attitude. 5. Too pricey for what it is. Good luck. read more

Got the style but no substance. Next time I would choose to stay at Westin down the street which has the substance but lack styles. I like the colorful and funky style furnitures but was not impressed with the room. I've never really understood the vibe that Aloft goes for. If you've never stayed at one, they all sort of have a retro European style to them and it just feels weird. It wouldn't be so bad if the bed and furnishings were more comfortable. I don't have a problem with interesting style, but for the price you pay you should get more than a mattress laying on the ground. On the plus side, they have a little cafe with incredible breakfast sandwiches for just a few bucks. This location also has a decent sports bar attached to it. Since I travel to Austin a lot for work, we normally stay down the street at the Westin which has nicer beds and nicer showers. We'll come here to the Aloft for dinner or drinks though. read more

Tying her size 12 shoe on the counter where I'm supposed to pay 140$ for a room , my point is ,,,they threw jackets on a few dumb shits and tried to make a profit. FYI. Don't stand for it. !! Great staff. Clean rooms and a Good location. There's still a bit of construction and road noise from the building that is still going on in the Domain. The new parking garage behind the hotel is a huge plus and you are walking distance to just about anything you need in the Domain. Yes, per all Aloft's, the elevators are glacially slow. Mike at the lobby bar is a huge bonus to this facility. All in all a solid place to stay. read more

A+ for Aloft Austin. This place is very efficient. Reminds me of a modern dorm room. Your room comes with free bottles of water, coffee and Bliss brand lotion, shampoo/conditioner & body wash. The room design is very clean & simple. You can tell they're making an effort to be "green;" they even have a recycling bin in the room. Their down comforter and long neck-roll pillows were so comfortable. There's not much of a view and Aloft is located a few minutes outside of downtown Austin, but it's worth the drive. There is ample parking and a nice restaurant downstairs. They have a pool table and snack-sized food available 24/7. Very modern (albeit small) rooms. The beds are comfy and the whole room (including the bathroom/shower) has a modern feel. The hotel staff were friendly, but not over the top. Probably the best thing going for the hotel is that it is nicely located in the Domain and has plenty of parking. The surrounding grounds aren't very visually appealing--just open grass lots. They accept pets, which was great for us since we were traveling with our tiny dog. read more

I found The Domain to be quite an odd area for a hotel-- seemed like it was a bit in the middle of nowhere... but kinda reminded me of Santana Row in San Jose. We all commented on how people must have to drive in between shops; everything is so far apart! (The phrase "everything is bigger in Texas" as applied to malls.) Aloft was nice. I'm not really sure what to say about it. The common areas were all very modern & sleek; the rooms themselves were about the same, but also quite small and cramped (apparently said phrase above does NOT apply to Aloft). Something about the layout/style reminded me of those cubby holes you can rent in Japan, on a slightly grander scale. We appreciated the complimentary bottles of water, but were slightly miffed that the receptionist would not bring us another bottle, even though housekeeping replenished the stock after tidying up the room. The bliss body products were a nice touch, but the wall mounted shower gel & all-in-1-shampoo/conditioner plus sliding bathroom door was reminiscent of a locker room. OVERALL: I had no problem staying here, although it made getting around in Austin slightly more complicated, since we weren't THAT close to downtown. I can't really comment on price:quality, but I will say that if you're paying more than $150/night for a room here, you can do better. read more

I have to show some love to Aloft amidst all the hate. I've stayed here probably 10 times in the last 5 years and except for the one time where the AC kept blowing right at my head, it was always pleasant. They've always been accommodating for room changes or putting me in a corner away from crazy noise. Aloft isn't supposed to be the W. It's just a chic and comfortable one-step-up from a motel in my opinion and it delivers. Ask for more little bliss hand soaps - they're great. read more

Love most of the W Hotels I've stayed at. Aloft is billed as "A Vision of W Hotels." W Hotels' vision must be pretty myopic lately, because this isn't anywhere near W Hotel standards. Everything everyone has said about the HVAC here is true. The A/C goes on and off in 15 minute cycles... going from too warm, to a blast of freezing air that blows right over the beds... rinse, repeat all night long. That, alone, is reason enough to stay somewhere else. Add to that the damaged furniture, no tub, useless wifi signal and no room service (mediocre food delivery is available from the Daily Grill nearby)... meh. The staff are nice. The location is good (and there's plenty of decent food across the Street at the Domain). The Westin at the Domain right next door is a much, much better property. I decided to try the Aloft because the Westin was booked full. There's a good reason it's booked full when there are still rooms at the Aloft. read more

I'm a fan of the Aloft brand in general, but this was not one of my favorite ones. Above all else, I need a comfy sleep and a good shower. Aloft always does really well on the good shower, but the sleep part was more difficult. The synthetic down comforters were so bare that all but the very edges were basically just 2 sheets rather than a blanket of any kind. The temperature control was seriously inaccurate. I had it turned up to 76 at one point, and still woke up to freezing air conditioner in the middle of the night. Those are pretty big problems for me because it disrupts sleep. There were some internet problems, too, but they eventually got resolved. That said, the guys downstairs were awesome. The bar is fantastic. Happy hour wine was $2, and on Wednesdays wine is $5 all night. I showed up on a Monday night and there was live music in the lobby. Definitely a fan of the lobby/bar. read more

I stayed here about 2 weeks after the grand opening. The decor might be cheeky to some with tracings of a dorm room decked out in Ikea - though some aspects were a bit overzealous (ie the crazy painting above the bed...but who really looks at paintings in hotel rooms anyways??) Customer service was top notch, the beds were super comfortable, good shower pressure with Bliss products (!!!), and the Domain was a stone's throw away. Perfect place to stay if you want to get away from the blackhole that is 6th and away from downtown in general. read more

Beautiful modern furnishings with a few hints of industrial influence here and there. Our room was magnificent and I'd have to say that it's probably the best 3-Star hotel in Austin. I'm giving this place a 4/5 stars simply because of the fact that there is no continental breakfast. NO CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST. Have you not seen the skit that Key & Peele about the guy who died and came back to life as a ghost just to get his continental breakfast!?!?! COME ON PEOPLE. PLEASE It makes no sense not to have a continental breakfast. Like literally no cents, it makes so much no sense that it's nonsense. Real Talk though, classy place to stay as long as you avoid the trash elevator in the Red Parking garage. That elevator has definitely seen some horrible things happen in it from how dilapidated it was yesterday. read more

The staff was incredibly helpful with merging our SPG + Marriott rewards, and getting us a clean and professional taxi downtown since Uber and Lyft are no longer in service in Austin. The Valet was awesome. All of them. The lobby decor is pretty wild for modern. But it fits right in for Austin. The staff at the front desk was kind and helpful. The room was very clean, but pretty small. Shower was hot. The place was extremely noisy. You could hear every toilet flush, every door close. Construction started at 6 am behind the hotel. Breakfast was a bit of an issue. The English muffin egg sandwiches we ordered were hot on the outside but egg and sausage was cold. Hash browns were still frozen. It took several minutes for someone from the kitchen to acknowledge us. I have mixed feelings on this and will probably not stay at this place again. read more
