I have rarely had bad experiences at different CP locations across the country. What I will say…read moreabout this experience is that, while it was not horrible, it did not leave me feeling like I wanted to come back. I don't think I've ever felt more like I didn't belong at a yoga studio before, and that's actually saying a lot given the ethnic make up of some of the people who were there when I stopped in. I get it, it's Georgetown, there's a certain level of pretentiousness that they have to maintain, but the snottiness that I have witnessed and experience, even during what was supposed to be a "community" class was laughable. Merari, the studio manager, was the instructor for my community class. I've taken community classes at other locations, as well as other classes at various locations. I find other community classes to be warm in a lot of ways. This one was not. In fact, I found it quite comical that prior to class, the staff members checking you in at the front desk (which took way longer than I've ever seen before, btw) encourage you to pick up one of those circles that allows you to indicate if you would like hands-on assistance. At the beginning of class, this particular instructor said, "you probably won't need those. I actually don't do hands-on assisting because my instruction is very clear." Ummmm, sis, as a longtime yogi, please get it together and recognize that hands-on assisting is often for far more than that. In fact, it's often used to help further deepen or correct postures, which aren't always clear to folks, especially newer people. Additionally, for someone who is as hyper flexible as me, I really appreciate hands-on assistance when it comes to deepening certain moves. I just found her overall vibe to be relatively condescending . In so many ways, it was almost as if she wanted to come out of her face and say something to be effective, "you guys are here for a free community class. Do what I say, and if you can't, that's on you." Definitely wouldn't return to this location, which sucks because overall, the actual practice was about a 4/5. OTHER THINGS HEARD DURING CLASS FRLN MERARI: "Did I just hear a cell phone? No cell phones in class. I already said that." *during a slight break* "No talking in class. I said no talking in class. This is a quiet space."

I had a good workout but I got EXTREMELY sick after working out at this location, beware, cannot…read morepinpoint whether it was from another student/cleanliness

Great Instructors So far, I've really like all the yoga instructors. I've only been going for two weeks, but I've tried a variety of morning, afternoon and evening classes. I was looking for instructors that push you, yet understand if you have injuries or days you just need to take it easy, and I definitely found all the instructors to be that way. RSVP for Class I would definitely recommend signing up for class in advance. So far I've only been to a few packed classes (Sunday morning and Friday evening), but I'm sure there are other times that are pretty popular. They do allow someone in from the waitlist if you arrive early. Arriving Early I'd recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early to get a good spot, but I also got there right on time for one early morning class and was fine getting in. The Studio Space The space is not huge, but they do a great job making it feel peaceful with plants and natural light. Hard wood floors and an angled roof make it feel nice and cozy. Even in 100 degree weather, the AC was working well. I like that the instructor is in the middle so everyone can see them as both sides of the studio face in. Front Desk Friendly and helpful front desk volunteers. A Couple FYIS: 1. Four Sets of Stairs Walk-Up For me, walking up four sets of stairs is a great cardio add-on, but FYI if you aren't in the mood to walk up that many stairs. 2. Newbie Offers Check out their website for their introductory offers as they don't all appear on the Mindbody app, and you can only use one. They're very strict about it. Final Verdict Love this yoga studio! They have the widest variety of times for yoga and a lot of great teachers. Also, love that there's a community feel here - instructors and yogis are all friendly and laidback.

I've done similar style classes (Sculpt, sculpt & flow, etc.) at a number of different studios/companies and how Stephanie did it at this location really got me going in the best way! I've since taken class with multiple folks and they've all been great! Rundown: Class format: sculpt & flow Instructors: Stephanie, Meera, Kristen, Abby Rating: 5/5 for all instructors Facility: 4.9/5 - The only thing this location is missing is the very awesome tea bar that's located at the South Alexandria location. They have one here but I like the tea options better at the other. 12 minutes of yoga. 36 of strength training. 12 of yoga cool down? Whew. In a heated room? Incredible. Music has been great across classes. Stephanie was encouraging and her stories made class go faster. I loved how good of a workout this was. Stephanie was a great instructor. Meera might be my faveeeeee. Her playlist was popping, and she was really making the girls work with her workout. The sculpt portion targeted pretty much everything. I'm trying to focus on, so very appreciated. Kristen was also amazing. While hers felt a little more cardio than anything else, I could definitely feel some significant sculpting happening, and she's got great energy. Super encouraging and definitely challenging. Location is clean. They validate parking and everyone was nice. Even though there are no showers, I LOVED that the bathroom has just about everything you need for a quick refresh, including face wash. Looking forward to coming back. Also, out of the three locations I've been to across Alexandria and Arlington, I would say that this one definitely is my favorite.

This studio also provides towels (including cold towels) and has a fill bottle station for water. I've only ever taken the yoga sculpt classes at this location, and this is the perfect workout to add to my weekly rotation. The class is also great for beginners; I've always been more of a Pilates girl, but I've found that YogaSix more than suits my needs in terms of strengthening and toning. While the class tends to be mostly attended by women, I've seen plenty of men sign up as well. Classes are almost always full, so early signup and arrival is recommended. I wish that they had showers so that I could do these workouts in the morning before work, but that is more of a personal preference and not a critique of the studio by any means. I cannot recommend this place enough, as it's great for people at any stage in their fitness journey

If it wasn't for the welcoming atmosphere and convenient location of Woodley Park Yoga, I don't know if I would've kept up my practice. As a newbie to yoga, I take the beginner class on Saturdays at 11am and the guided quarter primary class on Tuesdays at 7pm, both taught by Elsie. She has a calming voice, goes over the poses for new folks, and encourages you through the more difficult poses. The beginner class is easier if you've at least tried yoga at another studio or at home with YouTube videos. Be prepared to sweat a little! The studio is sizeable and allows 13-15 people max depending on the class. You can store your yoga mat in the back room, and there are wipes for your mat. I don't usually see blocks or towels readily available, but ask if you need them. The studio is on the third floor of a four-story building in Woodley Park, above Uni Sushi (no elevator). There's a small bathroom in the back of the studio. If I can think of only one downside, it's not being able to pay for classes online in advance, even though you can reserve your spot online. You need to go to the studio and purchase classes directly with the teacher, which takes time before/after class if you're waiting for others to pay too. Better to just buy a pack of 5, 10, or 20 classes if you plan to come back regularly. Checking in relies a bit on the honor system: you write your name on a card and the number of classes, then cross each number off when you show up to class. Whether your a seasoned yogi or a newbie like me, I highly recommend dropping in Woodley Park Yoga for a class!
