I got a bahn mi to go. When I got home and opened my sandwich, it was packed full of chicken. I was so impressed. There was so much chicken in the sandwich that all the toppings, the carrots, the cilantro, the cucumber all were packed in a separate plastic bag because. They wouldn't even fit in the sandwich, so I actually had to take some of the chicken out so I can put the toppings in. It was so delicious. The chicken is so tender. The cilantro was so fresh, the carrots were crisp, the cucumbers were crisp, just a great sandwich and it was actually kind of big that I had to cut it in half. And I took the other half to work for lunch and it was delicious the second day as well

Alo 5 is located on Highway 620 before you get to Lakeway bridge. It has an assortment of Vietnamese menu items to choose from Phoa to stir fry. I met a Yelper friend for dinner at Alo5. Service was a premium at Alo5. As soon as I entered the restaurant, I was greeted by the host with a big friendly smile. Our waiter, Hoa, was extremely friendly and helpful with menu items. Once inside the restaurant, you are immediately transported to Vietnam...colorful walls, traditional flowers and architecture. My friend had orange chicken and crab Rangoon's. I had shrimp and pork spring rolls and a vermicelli bowl. I sampled one of my friends Rangoon's and they were good but a bit too hard on the outside. My spring roll was quite tasty and larger than the standard spring roll. It came with a very flavorful peanut sauce with actual peanuts on top. My vermicelli bowl was huge, clearly enough for two people. It was exquisitely flavored with a mixture of hot (chicken) and cold (vegetables.) The carrots tasted almost pickled. A little vermicelli bowl surprise was miniature eggrolls...super flavorful and crunchy. I could not have asked for a better vermicelli bowl. Overall, a good Vietnamese restaurant. Look forward to trying other menu items...

A great Vietnamese food option in Austin, the service is quick and friendly. The space is new and has many tables for small and large groups. Food is fantastic and open late.

When we first stepped into Alo 5 in Austin, we were immediately impressed by how clean, stylish, and welcoming the space felt. The elegant décor gives off an upscale vibe without losing its warmth, and even before the dinner rush began, we could tell this was a restaurant that takes pride in every detail. We were greeted with smiles, and one of the owners personally took time to sit down and explain the concept behind the restaurant -- a blend of modern Vietnamese flavor and high-end presentation. Right away, we knew we were in for something special. The star of the evening was the Hot Stone Phở -- a sizzling, steaming bowl that arrives at the table still bubbling. It's as much an experience as it is a meal. After talking with the owners, I had the privilege of going back into the kitchen to watch the process firsthand. Seeing the care and precision that goes into this dish gave me a whole new appreciation for it. When that scalding hot bowl hit the table, the aroma alone stopped me in my tracks -- and the flavor delivered exactly what it promised. We also tried the Seafood Crispy Egg Noodles and Shaking Beef, both phenomenal in their own right. The noodles were crisp on the outside, soft underneath, and perfectly coated in a sweet, salty, umami-rich sauce. The shrimp was fresh, and the textures made every bite exciting. The shaking beef -- tender cubes of high-quality steak -- might just be my go-to dish here. It's rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked, with that balance of savory and tangy that keeps you wanting more. What really set this experience apart, though, was the hospitality. I was able to sit with the owners and even the chef, who shared his background and passion for what they're creating here. The entire team is family-oriented and deeply committed to their craft. You can feel that passion in the atmosphere -- and you can absolutely taste it in the food. If you love authentic Vietnamese cuisine or simply want to try something new, Alo 5 is a must. The sizzling hot stone phở is unforgettable -- a dish that's as visual as it is delicious. Go once, and you'll go back again. I'll put my name on it.

Came here for dinner last night with my boyfriend and we both really liked this spot. He had never had bahn mi before but he really loved it. The bread is so good and fresh and all of the ingredients go so well together. I got the beef pho and it was great. I loveee pho and the broth here is super good. Lot of flavor! The employees here are all so sweet and the restaurant itself has a lot of nice seating. Definitely recommend trying out!!

Interior is nice, open and clean. Service is good. Bathroom is also clean which is a plus for me :) I just wish the food was better. Eggrolls: not bad but too expensive for 2 small ones. Bun bo hue: disappointed. Somehow not many restaurants able to make this dish perfect. Alo5 makes it too oily and lacking in flavors Bun thit nuong: okay, but I was expecting grill marks, marinated could be better Banh xeo: I thought it was okay - not all the way crispy I think they have way too many items on their menu. If they can perfect the traditional Vietnamese dishes I think it would be awesome.

Highly recommend the shrimp pineapple fried rice, shrimp spring rolls, and their milk teas. The tapioca pearls in the milk tea were incredibly fresh, I had to fight the urge to order a second round. The staff were friendly and welcoming. I can't wait to come back and try more !

Very solid Vietnamese restaurant. They have a few other Asian dishes but the core menu is Vietnamese and quite good. The ambiance is neighborhood casual. The menu has enough options where you could visit 2-3 times a week. Their star is the bowl of Pho. Several proteins to choose. My favorite was the brisket and rare beef. Simply delicious. Very savory, not too salty. Nice broth. The grilled chicken Vermicelli bowl was excellent. Crisp, crunchy vegetables and well prepared grilled chicken. Very flavorful when you add the sweet sauce. The handmade Vietnamese egg rolls were quite nice. Service was fantastic and fast.

New owner, new management. We had such a great experience at Alo5 restaurant. Our waitress, Ms. Rosa was incredible. She was extremely friendly, helpful with good food recommendations and menu items's explanation. We got the Big combination hot stone bowl beef Pho, the Shaken beef and a signature milk tea. The food was totally good, service was awesome, super nice staff who actually care and great vibes. Added this restaurant to our favourite restaurants. Highly recommended!

Tried a variety of dishes and the standouts were the beef combo pho and signature milk tea with boba. The Bun Bo Hue was just ok but I'll definitely be back for boba and pho. The manager/owner was very nice but they have some kinks to work out. Menu was slightly confusing because online they had picture of fried rice and noodle stir fry but we couldn't find it on the menu. Some of the items on the menu was also not available. Hopefully they fix some of these grand opening issues soon. Overall, I'm satisfied and Will be back especially for the boba.

Delicious Pho place! When it's cold or rainy, really hard to beat a good bowl of pho. Service was great and the food came out quickly. Place has beautiful murals and a bar area with multiple tvs. We'll definitely be back.

Was looking for a late night dinner spot (around 9:00 pm ish). What an excellent find!!! A few people when we walked in and pleasantly surprised that they are open until 11:00 pm!! Everything else around shuts down at 9:00. I hope the continue with the later hours!! Spring rolls were large and very good! I ordered the Drunken Noodles and hubby ordered the Pad Thai...very large portioned plates. Waiter visited our table a few times to check on us. We will definitely be back!!!

Came to Don Don Express again, but this time for takeout!…read more I already knew I wanted the Chicken Katsu again after a really great experience last time. I also checked out the appetizer menu and decided to try the curry pancake. The boxed Chicken Katsu came out piping hot. It was still a generous portion of chicken layered over rice. When I saw the side compartment, I paused for a second and thought, is that soup? Then I realized it was actually the onion, egg, and soy mixture that goes with donburi. I did not know it would be packed separately, so I was not especially careful with the container and a little of it spilled into the bag. That said, I really applaud this place for separating it. It kept the chicken katsu crispy and the rice dry and fluffy until I was ready to eat. The curry pancake was different from what I expected, but in a pleasant way. It was not filled with curry or mixed into the dough. Instead, it was a hot, crispy, flaky Asian-style pancake with a texture similar to a scallion pancake, served with a curry dipping sauce. The curry had a bold and flavorful profile. It was not thick but nor sweet as the usual Japanese curry block sauces, as I was expeecting since it is a japnese themeed place. Te curry to me tatded more indian curry stlye, a bit spicy and a strong but it had a strong savory depth. Because of the texure closer to a desn flavor croth it did not cling to the pancake as much, not like how naan would scoopt up the curry, but it still paired very well, and works nice with the katsu, too! Very happy with this meal and definitely excited to return again.

For roughly $60 the wife was full and we had roughly 6 dishes and one cocktail (I was still slightly hungry). Think of it as more of a tapas style ordering. Soft shelled crab - My absolute favorite and by far the best dish! Crispy from the breading, soft shell and subtle crab taste, and to top it off the fried egg adds some creaminess from the yolk. Not greasy at all due to the way it's fried. And who doesn't like a little microgreen to add some freshness to it?! It could likely use a little more salt, and this particular time the yolk was a overcooked. Sushi Tacos - 2nd favorite! You get two, and frankly I prefer not sharing these (although my wife forced me to). It's such a unique dish. Each taco is palm sized. They take a yummy piece of laver (seaweed), coat one side and deep fry it to make a nice hard shell taco casing. Then they fill it with sushi rice, top it with plentiful tuna, add a slice of avocado, and top it with micro greens. Refreshing, light (once you squeeze the tiny lime on top), slightly filling due to the rice, and absolutely delicious. Takoyaki - I'm not a fan, but the wife is. For me it's a texture thing. Even when visiting Japan I didn't enjoy this dish. Honestly though I do think it deserves far more bonito flakes, as the dish is meant to look alive from the waving flakes. Honestly we love this place so much, I always get engrossed in the food so much I forget to take pics. The overall ambience is chill and refined, albeit no white tableclothes, but it acts like it should have them.
