Having unskilled workers is one thing but not uncommon, what really stung was that when the owner Raudel, came to inspect the work after I complained, he made excuse after excuse. He didn't fix the problem... he didn't even apologize. He did absolutely nothing. If you work hard for your money and want to invest it in improving your home, go somewhere else. If you want to throw your money away, get frustrated and upset, and lower the value of your house, go to Frank's Carpet.

She said someone would be in touch with me either that day or the next. Two weeks later still no follow up. So I call back and she seems surprised and says she will follow up with me. She calls me back to tell me the person assigned to my estimate had called me multiple times but that the number wasn't working. Made no sense. It was my cell phone and she was calling me to tell me this, on that very same number! But I gave them the benefit of the doubt. The estimator called me and we set up time for him to come evaluate the work that I needed done. I left work early to meet him. He seemed like a great guy and I was really pleased with our conversations around options for this work. He said he would be back to me by the following week with an estimate. 3 weeks later, NOTHING. So I call one more time and get a very rude and abrasive man on the phone. I could not remember the name of the person that came over. He kept pressing me shooting off all these possible names and physical descriptions. Finally I said, don't you have record of who came to my apartment? And he said yes he can look it up and will call me back. No call back. Shocker. It is unbelievable to me that I am chasing this company around so I can give them my business. They clearly do not want it and are clearly unreliable and dishonest. If the work was not something they were interested in they should have contacted me and said as much. If they needed more time to get me an estimate they should have contacted me to let me know as much, I have now wasted two months of time time waiting and chasing this ridiculous company around. Now I will find a contractor that actually wants my business and knows how to service a paying customer. If you are in the market for a contractor, stay away from Poler.

He left NO TRACE that he was ever there. He covered the furniture, cleaned the floor when he was done, and was the nicest, most polite person. Have absolutely everything spelled out in a contract as there could be hidden costs that may come up in the end, which I fought and didn't pay. If installing flooring, get a second estimate. He tried to charge me $18,000 to install 1900 sq. Feet of LVP, not including material. We got the material and installation for under $8k. Big difference. Overall though, the work they did was great and we are very happy with our new kitchen. Mozart is a one stop shop, which is what we wanted.

The grouting on the tile kept peeling away (even after waiting longer than they told us we needed to). They finally used a different product but it is lifting and cracking again. My new tile floor has stress fractures. When they FINALLY came to look at it I was told it was due to the house settling. The options given were to replace the cracked tiles or they would give me an estimate to go under the bathroom and place supports so that this would not happen again. If they replaced the tiles they would not guarantee that this wouldn't happen again. I never got the estimate after requesting a few times. When they placed my counter tops in, it was the wrong color. They fixed that issue. My shower head leaks when filling the bathtub. I was told this is "normal" but it is a steady stream. I paid extra for a deep tub so I can soak. It's very annoying to sit in the tub and have the shower head splash on you. Painting was extremely sloppy. Overall, just pick a different company.

It's been well over five years now, and it still looks good. The good: Everything is solid, and high quality. The manufacturing is as local as local can get - as it is made just a few miles away, but you'd swear it was made in Italy, given the craftsmanship. The local manufacturing was a huge plus for me, as I wanted to keep my carbon footprint small. The installation went as well as could be expected - every major kitchen install is complicated and filled with issues. The could-be-better: There was a lot of conflict between my architect, my contractor, and NY Loft. I doubt you would have any such issues if you just use NY Loft as your designer, contractor, and installer. But if you need them to work with others, and have others work with them, stand back, because there will be major fireworks. In spite of that, everything got done. The bottom line is that they were trustworthy, and they got the job done, and it all looks good and functions well. They are headstrong and have tempers, and they may not always play nice with others, but when all is said and done, they are professional. The project might take a while, and there will be bumps along the way. Kitchens are complicated, and any kind of renovation in NYC is especially complicated. However, I would recommend NY Loft to anyone who is willing to go the distance in a renovation - they'll go the distance for you.
