We are writing in reference to the full service design, implementation of our kitchen and separate bar that was done by Zee Akbar and Manhattan Cabinets. This project involved a complete gut of the existing kitchen and designing and installing new cabinetry, countertop and appliances. We are extremely happy with the final product and believe Zee and his team was instrumental in several aspects of the project. Starting in the design phase, we spent quite a bit of time with Zee planning both the aesthetic and practical aspects of the kitchen and bar. Zee has incredible design ideas and solutions as well as a great selection of very high quality product. Zee ultimately cares about the final product and found solutions to uneven ceilings and floors as well as how to maximize the utility of our space. In addition, on the execution and implementation side, Zee and his team worked with precision, care and delivering this with the highest quality of workmanship. If there were any manufacturing problems or other issues, they handled it, with solutions including reordering new replacements so that in the end we had a flawless kitchen and bar. In addition to the above, Zee and Manhattan Cabinet's customer service, integrity and great communication really went far and above our expectations. They worked with from design to completion, helping me turn a poorly laid out galley kitchen (seen below) into a beautiful open kitchen from which I can easily entertain. Any permits we required were easily obtained and the only delays were caused by my building's management company. If additions, changes or adjustments needed to be made, they were quick to respond, help find solutions, and made it happen. If a problem arose or I was unhappy with how anything looked (since your imagination of what you want may look a little different in reality) they were able to handle it right away as the workshop was right down the street. Their 5 star Yelp review is overrated , unless it's given by their friends & family. From day one, they would not be able to keep their commitment. It took nearly three months for them to prepare a quote ( generic, unprofessional, but with the high cost ). The contract was full of grammatical errors with ambiguity. Regardless, I tried to work with them due to their proximity of the location from my building. While waiting on a final contract, I received an email from the owner stating that they just won two big jobs that my project would be delayed another three to six months or so. This was after the negotiation & verbal commitment . I had moved some of the fournitures out of the apartment for the anticipation of the renovation. I had been patient up to that point. Should they have not been able to do the project, they should have told me from the start. They wasted my time & energy. They should not be doing business in my neighborhood. I do not & cannot recommend this place. Avoid. read more

"I love my contractor!" Words I never thought I'd say. We had a true partnership with Zee and his crew. We had Manhattan Cabinets gut renovate two bathrooms, install custom lighting throughout the apartment, reconfigure doors, install new kitchen and bathroom appliances and fixtures, expertly painted (and plaster) floor to ceiling throughout, and more. The results are amazing! Our master bathroom looks like something out of a magazine! The tile work is gorgeous (with custom niches) and the lighting and fixtures, rewiring and outlets were expertly installed. Manhattan Cabinets also made custom vanities with stone tops and cabinets for us, which are first-class. This was a complex project spanning two plus months. Like with any construction project, there were items that needed to be tweaked or revisited. With all construction work, the home owner needs to stay on top of all projects and be clear about what you want and expect. The key is that Manhattan Cabinets had the utmost integrity and commitment to deliver excellent work, so we were able to update Zee or his wonderful crew and they responded quickly to complete each project. They took our timeline seriously and provided between 2 and 6 workers in our 2 bedroom apartment at any given time, keeping the project on schedule. Though I dreaded the process of gutting my kitchen, Zee and his crew made it the worst and best experience doing a renovation. Not only are his men incredibly meticulous, skilled and proud of their work, they worked quickly and were so pleasant and considerate of my space. Worked with Zee through my kitchen cabinets process, he helped me think through the questions regarding layout and functionality, by the end I was confident our new cabinets would work perfectly for us. Also, when a piece arrived needing replacement due to damage, he immediately handled the replacement. There are a lot of moving parts when it comes to cabinets-- I appreciated all of the information and help/answers to my questions, even after our cabinets were installed. Also, they were the only cabinet shop that didn't push or require me to have them do the installation. They would have done it if I wanted it, but I already had a GC installing them. We renovated our apartment last year and the contractor we used did not have a kitchen cabinetry source that we liked. I did a lot of internet searches (Houzz, etc.) and visited quite a few establishments in NYC from the short list I compiled. We decided on Manhattan Cabinets because they had great advises, easy to work with, reasonable pricing, and seemed to know what they are doing. We were not disappointed. Zee measured, ordered, and promptly answered any questions / concerns we and the contractor had. Our kitchen came out better than I imagined - it's clean, fresh, and highly functional. Last month (more than a year after we completed our renovation) a repair person accidentally damaged a couple of our kitchen cabinet doors. We contacted Zee and see if there's anything he can do. He replied within the hour (this was on a saturday too!) and took care of ordering a replacement without any fuss. I highly recommend Zee and his team. Their customer service is second to none.
