I can't complain about the remodeling of my kitchen. The price was right and I'm satisfied. However, this review is for the very poor customer service I received from the owner Sam We decided we wanted a spring mechanism for the opening if the kitchen cabinets. These were installed but were defective. He never made any attempt to correct the situation. I ordered two doors for a closet and bedroom and paid for them in full ($1000). They never installed them despite having charged my card and making multiple appointments to do so. In addition he never even called to cancel the appointments. Just a lot of no-shows with no response to my texts or phone calls. Very unprofessional I received a refund for the doors of $900. When I questioned Sam he said I would receive the additional $100 in a few days. I never did. But he was quick to charge my credit card (without asking permission) I might add. I cannot in good faith recommend this company. However, if you are into stress, wasted time and effort, this firm is for you. Otherwise do yourself a favor. Pay a little bit more and find someone who respects your valuable time. And STAY AWAY!!! read more

Outstanding. We just had the cabinets refaced and drawers replaced in our galley kitchen in our Manhattan apartment. It was completed with one worker in about 15 hours of total work. The cabinets look brand new. Everything is soft close. It feels like a new kitchen. The service was great, and everyone was very responsive and helpful. I would highly recommend. read more

Original review - 10/2017 Sam is the business owner and seems to be a nice guy. Andrew (is he partner? employee?) is disorganized and a loose cannon with an anger problem, and is no doubt the reason for some of these negative reviews. Tru-facers did tile work a few years ago in an apartment our family owns. We were generally happy with our tile guy Elvin. There were a few quirks - he showed up the first day without grout or glue and I had to go with him to the hardware store to buy it, I've never had to do that before. But he worked hard and did a nice job and we liked him (hence the 2 stars instead of 1). So when I needed tile work done in my apartment last year I called them again. Things went fine with Andrew at first. He sent an estimate, answered a question via email, and I replied suggesting a specific date, about 8 weeks out. When he didn't reply, I waited a week and then called. I asked if he'd seen my email and if that date was ok. He starting yelling at me about the date - "that's so far off!" He repeated it a few times. We were now 7 weeks out. All I wanted to do is pay my 30%, sign the contract, and start shopping for tile. This is Manhattan. You can't buy tile and stash it in your garage. You want to know you are ready to roll before you pile heavy boxes of tile into your apartment. 7 weeks is not that long given the logistics of shopping for tile and getting it delivered. He finally shouted "I'll call you tomorrow." Naturally I never heard from him. I hired another contractor. A few days prior to the date I'd suggested to Andrew - 7 weeks after our conversation - Sam called to say I was on the schedule for that date but for some reason he could not find my contract. Andrew put me on the schedule but never bothered to call me back nor get a signed contract! He's not just a jerk, he's incompetent. I told Sam the story. He said "I am the business owner. From now on please call me directly." But I just can't see doing business with these guys while Andrew is there. He is a liability and Sam should fire him. Update 4/30/18 Scratch your head all you like, Andrew. The facts as I related them are exactly how it happened. Who would make this stuff up? Keep your cool and maybe you'll get your ratings up some day. read more

We were satisfied with the product we purchased for kitchen countertop and splash. However, one splash was installed, two inches too short. They suggested a 'fix' with fillers in each corner but it isn't what we expected, it looks like a fix, not an intentional decorative element. We did not insist that it be re-done as we feared something else would go wrong and be worse. We were also concerned that if they did come in and take it out, it might be a long time before they returned to complete the job. After a few weeks we discovered that the new sink was not properly installed and had to be reset. While things go wrong, we were confident that starting over would likely be worse than accepting a sub-par job. We did not pay a final amount due, about a 5% discount. There was no offer to provide a deeper discount. So poor experience in all respects. read more

I had used services from Tru-Facers Kitchens in the past, and was fairly satisfied with them. But when I contacted them for a different new project , Andrew came , measured my kitchen , said that he will get back to me and that was it. In spite of me calling for 3 or 4 times and leaving messages , there was no communication , no call back . According to me that is very unprofessional. If they did not want to take up job for whatever reason , they should have called and said so.,no one can compel you to do a certain thing that you do not want to do . I wasted 10 to 15 days just waiting for their response. So sad ! read more

I completely agree with the previous reviewer. After a kitchen fire, our only viable option was re-facing, which I was very hesitant about. After interviewing three companies and understanding the process, my fears were allayed and we went with Tru-Facers. Beautiful showroom, and Andrew and Sam were beyond knowledgable and easy to work with during the initial and subsequent visit. There was no hard sell- quite the opposite--they have been in business for many years and their work speaks for itself. The results were spectacular. We refaced with white, cottage-style wood, and had a massive selection of top of the line handles and pulls. The crew of two finished the job in 4 days, and every detail was perfect. They were also incredibly nice and efficient, and did some extra work at very little expense. i will be using Tru-Facers again for one of my bathrooms in the next few months. Sam did finally call back and arrange for someone to adjust the doors. (Guess he read my review.) Doors were adjusted until a few days later when one came completely off a hinge. Luckily my Super fixed it as I couldn't get into the cabinet and was afraid the door was going to fall off completely. Sam did reply again and sent someone immediately to check on it, as this was a first for the Super. These hinges are tricky. So far so good. I have raised my rating, but this cost me as I had to pay the Super as well as $50 to Tru-Facers and a tip. read more

I had my kitchen cabinets refaced in January and, after consulting with 3 contractors, I chose Tru-Facers Kitchens, and not only because their price was the lowest. I was impressed with Andrew's professionalism and knowledge, he came to my house, measured and promptly sent me a proposal with different options. He suggested that I rework the cabinet above the refrigerator to accommodate a taller refrigerator that I wanted to buy and make it deeper. He was also able to fix my lower cabinet/drawer issue since it wasn't working for me, there was dead space that I couldn't access and I needed a larger drawer. Sam came and did the final measurements, the work started & ended on time. Jacob did the actual work and he was simply wonderful and cleaned up after himself. He was also able to paint the kitchen, replace the backsplash with subway tiles and replace the faucet. My kitchen looks brand new and I'm loving it! This was a truly painless experience! Tru-Facers did an excellent job in updating my condo. I purchased the condo at the Upper East Side from an elderly couple who had lived in the premises for 40 years. The last update was 25 years ago. After two months of searching and pricing, I met Andrew from Tru-Facers Kitchen who was gracious enough to setup a time to discuss the various option and a tour of the showroom. I was excited with all the options. At the conclusion of the meeting, I was greeted by the owner Sam, who was arriving with his worker after completing a job. I'm an older woman who never did any remodeling before and I was nervous. Step-by-step, with help and guidance from Andrew, the main salesperson, and Sam, the owner/foreman, I ended up with the kitchen I'd hoped for. Andrew is a New Yorker with a rough edge or two, but he was perfectly patient and calm as I went through my various mind-changes, always reassuring me I wasn't putting him to extra trouble and giving me the benefit of his good advice when I asked. My kitchen looks wonderful: cabinets beautifully refaced, porcelain tile new floor, new quartz counters and sink. But they did more, things not in the contract that they didn't have to do. They completely sealed off an area where bugs were getting through, attached my new under-the-counter lights, installed cabinet sliders and other things. Once or twice, I waited 24 hrs for a response, but never more and once the job got rolling, both Andrew and Sam responded to phone calls and/or emails within a few hours. No corners were cut on the job, the materials, the workmanship and the cooperation all deserve the highest rating. I learned an important lesson: keep your expectations on the real side and you won't be disappointed. read more

AGREE. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! Tru-Facers Kitchens handled the renovation of my apartment last summer. They were really horrible but I had decided to put it past me. I have been in my apartment since July and my bathroom is literally falling apart. My sink and toilet leak. I just had to replace my brand new Kohler toilet because it was the wrong size and forced in. The towel rack, toilet paper holder and shelf fell off. Every time my Super walks in, he just shakes his head. I can totally identify with the other reviewer. Andrew and Sam (the owners) were liars and unreachable when you needed them. The workers in my apartment were sloppy and promised me everything and then ignored me. Their painter stole supplies from me. It was a 2 month ordeal (they promised 2-3 weeks). This was one of the oddest companies going. It used to be Nufacers which was also a weird place. This one had to take the cake. Someone came by to estimate a job and I never heard from them. I couldn't get in back in touch with them either. I guess I was lucky that way. I can't imagine having someone under contract that you can't find... I went with another contractor. read more

Update to prior review. Many cabinet doors are loose or off their hinges because of Trufacers negligent use of mediocre materials and the wrong fasteners and screws. Paint drips are unsightly and wood floor has separated and splintered. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. These guys & in particular "Andrew" their salesman, came in with promises to take everything out of the cabinets, reface, and put everything back. Repeatedly I asked the workers who did the job when they would finish and if they would put the kitchen back together. Repeatedly I was told they would finish by Wednesday (in time for my housekeeper to clean) and that they would put everything back together. THEY DUMPED the drawers of my kitchen into a pile on my dining floor. They yanked everything from the cabinets and threw it all over the floor. They didn't finish in time for my housekeeper to clean, who I still had to pay for the day. When they did finish the job the two workers, the same who assured me they would put everything back, walked out the door. When I asked them to wait so I could call Tru Facers to confirm they would put everything back together, they refused. When I called the salesman Andrew who sold us the job I was told he was "unavailable and doesn't have a cell phone." His boss said, "do you have what Andrew told you in writing?" A TERRIBLE COMPANY. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THEM. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I wish I could post pictures on this site. I will find one that allows photos.
