I picked a beautiful spot, and almost immediately Kenny brought me sparkling water, complimentary eggplant caponata, and bread that tasted like it had been baked by someone in heaven! I started with the Millefoglie Di Melanzane "Alla Mamma Carolina"--thinly layered eggplant, San Marzano D.O.P. tomato sauce, and 18-month Parmigiano Reggiano. I make eggplant Parmesan at home, but this was on an entirely different level. Absolutely out of this world. As a special favor, they also prepared a half portion of Buccatini Carbonara for me: Roman-style bucatini with guanciale, egg, Pecorino Romano, and black pepper. My only complaint? I didn't get the full portion! It was outstanding. For my main course, I ordered the Costatella Di Cervo, a marinated venison chop with red wine, juniper berries, and herbs, chargrilled and served over soft Ribiola cheese polenta with port wine and fresh figs. I normally wouldn't order venison, but I am so glad I took the chance. It was spectacular--tender, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Dessert was the Italian ricotta cheesecake, and I had a decaf cappuccino with foam that was like whipped cream The restaurant itself is charming and beautifully decorated, the service is truly exquisite, and the food is beyond belief. Kenny, Kimberly, and the entire team made my birthday dinner an experience I won't forget. I am so happy I found this gem in Sparkill! I can't wait to come back.

This restaurant is known for authentic Spanish small plates, generous paellas, imported Spanish ingredients, decadent desserts, and wonderful warm bread to start your culinary meal with. The seafood paellas are portion perfect ie; large, the tapas favorites include garlic shrimp, octopus, croquetas, Iberico ham, lamb chops, and seasonal specials. Because the dining room is relatively small, expect a noisy environment. Weekend waits can be long because of this restaurant's popularity, but it is so worth the wait. If one arrives early, there will be no problem with sitting at the bar or nabbing a table. The staff is friendly, the clientele is neighborly, and you're guaranteed to enjoy your restaurant experience here. For Piermont, it's one of the strongest dining experiences available, particularly if one enjoys sharing plates. If you're going for the first time, I'd order the garlic shrimp, a few tapas to share, and one of the paellas for the table. Thank you Benny for bringing Piermont to our neighborhood. *For those across the river in Westchester, enjoy Basque in Tarrytown.

No guessing, no worrying like you may have from a restaurant you've never been to. I've been coming here for a few years and every experience was above expectation. I feel like family when I step in the door. Joe is always extremely accommodating making sure my reservation is held even if I got stuck in traffic coming from Brooklyn. Memo and Omid also make sure all aspects of your service is perfect. Some of the best quality food you will eat. Some of the best service you will ever have. Very fair prices, no rush, no problems, great wine, beer, drink menus, great food selections and deserts. This restaurant is set in the heart of Piermont which is a quaint little town with interesting shops. It's set by the Hudson River and very close to the Tappan Zee Bridge. For starter we had the beet salad, coconut shrimp, and the crab cake. Of course they were all delicious. They served fresh baked bread hot out of the oven. For mains we had the Halibut Provençal served with Basmati rice and snow peas. We also had the Pan Sear King Salmon served soba Japanese noodles and asparagus. For desert we had the Bailey's Cheesecake, and the Motrin Dark Chocolate Cake. I cannot stress how great everything always is. It is with the drive to come here. I highly recommend them.

Wisely recognized as America's oldest tavern with its stone facade, the Old '76 House, located on Main Street in Tappan, has been welcoming guests and was restored to its pristine condition by the Norden family. Step inside, and nearly every corner tells a story that served as a meeting place for local patriots during the American Revolutionary War. It also welcomed General George Washington for dining on occasion. He once received plans at the establishment that exposed Benedict Arnold as a traitor--prompting a dramatic reaction still talked about today. Upon entering without a reservation today for lunch, my partner and I were greeted by the host and got a cozy table by the fireplace with original Delft tiles in the Tap Room. The interior features rustic beamed ceilings, four fireplaces, vintage portraits, historical certificates and documents, as well as costumes and artifacts where patrons were able to walk around and marvel at them. The menu reflects the tavern's heritage, with dishes inspired by early American cuisine. We decided on the Thanksgiving Sandwich accompanied with fries and the Traditional American Meatloaf over Mashed Potatoes and Steamed Vegetables. For dessert, we shared Hannah's Apple Crunch with vanilla ice cream. But even more than the great and delicious food was the history, ambiance, and especially the way we were treated. Our server was Joe and checked on us often. The portion was healthy and the price comparable to the area's. If one has even a passing interest in American history, then it's a must to come here. Not just a meal, but an experience!

The wonderful waterfront view, combined with a tropical atmosphere, lush palm plants, and natural-colored décor, made us feel as though we were dining at a seaside resort. And the seafood? So incredibly fresh, it tasted as though it had come straight from the sea! We started with half a dozen oysters that were fresh, followed by the octopus appetizer, a generous portion that was tender, flavorful, and beautifully complemented by a light, delicate sauce. The whole grilled fish was expertly prepared and deboned to perfection. It was so fresh and tender that every bite practically melted in my mouth! Our server, Gent, was attentive, gracious, and made sure we were well taken care of throughout the meal. Beautiful views, a relaxing tropical atmosphere, exceptionally fresh seafood, and wonderful service made this a truly delightful dining experience. There is a pretty good chance I am putting several Japanese kids through college with the amount of high end sushi my wife makes me buy for her. With that being said the experience actually has to be worth the cost and Trata is not even close. Let's start with the good. The view is magnificent and if this is why you came, stop reading now. You will get precisely what you came for. However, if you came for a good meal, sorry, this place is way overpriced and just not good. The lone standout from the meal was the octopus. Flavorful and cooked just right. From there it was all down hill. My wife and I had the highly recommended fresh red snapper at $90+ dollars. It was totally dry and flavorless. Sides were nothing special. I would argue you could get better whole red snapper at Noches De Columbia or one of the many Thai places in rockland for a third or less of the cost. Then the real disaster of the night was the rack of lamb which my kids ordered. 8 pieces of lamb for $85. For those counting that's $10 bucks a piece, ordered medium rare and it was served so raw a good veterinarian could bring it back to life. Naturally, we told our server who took it to the back and returned about 3 minutes later totally well done. I have worked in many restaurants in my day and I know there is only one way to go from raw to well done in 3 minutes and that is with the microwave. Sorry but at 10 bucks a rib have some respect for your customers and put the meat on the grill. I know it's busy, I know you're swamped too bad. If you want to eat in Piermont there are plenty of other much better and way cheaper options, and if you need a view of the bridge just walk down the Pier. We won't be back.
