This is an overdue review for the most phenomenal floral design & delivery! I needed to send flowers as a "small thank you" to a fashion designer during NYFW and I was anxious about getting the tone right (without spending too much) but had no idea what I wanted to send. I found Alma Floral on Yelp and gave her a call towards the end of a work day. She sounded genuinely happy to chat (a nice change) and her website made it easy to place my order online. (Bonus - Alma's also happy to communicate via iMessage and email.) Alma sent pics of the bouquet with and without the final touches and I was blown away by her choice of flowers/vase, the artful arrangement, and the perfectly chic, understated wrapping... Alma's taste and skill is exquisite: For well-under $100 she hit the mark on a complicated request and surpassed my expectations. I was so excited to book Melissa for my wedding but sadly, she seriously dropped the ball at my wedding, to the extent that I've been advised to seek legal action against her for financial restitution. The flowers she delivered: a) were not what we agreed on in her proposal, b) were far less robust than had been agreed on and paid for, c) included several partially dead or dying flowers and d) were constructed poorly, creating several logistical challenges, including my planner having to run to a local bodega for extra flowers since so many were dead and having to get vases from florist doing a wedding at the venue next door. Her work was so far from the mark before you even take into account the dead flowers, which I have ample photo evidence of. My day of coordinator and photographer (who had recommended Alma to me, was horrified to have done so seeing her work product, and has advised her other clients to cancel their contracts with her) said that the flowers delivered looked like they were worth only half the amount I had paid her. After my wedding, I contacted Melissa to share my feedback (dismay, really) and that I wanted financial restitution, she did not respond to several outreaches. When I booked Melissa, I knew from reviews that she had some issues with responsiveness; though she assured me that she had hired an office manager to support her, I never saw evidence of this - emails were often unreturned and deliverables late. Needless to say, I would strongly advise any bride from booking Melissa. I'm still struggling to look at my wedding photos without crying at how much she screwed up. I unfortunately have had the same experience as a previous reviewer, and wish I had read it sooner as well as taken note of only 9 reviews. I also was excited to work with Melissa as her work is unique and beautiful. She is clearly very talented. I too am having a small event and am now wondering if that is why I received the same treatment. Melissa's initial response was quick, but I then had to stalk her to schedule a time to talk. When we finally did, we had a wonderful conversation and I was even more excited to work with her. She promised me a proposal and I followed up with pictures of our space as she requested. Then nothing. Literally nothing. No response, no proposal, not even a "thanks but no thanks" even after my repeated outreach. I understand life gets in the way, I understand that better projects come up, but it is basic common courtesy, especially in this business to at least respond and say that you are unable to take our business. It takes moments to send an email. We are people that were fans of your work, would have shared your name with family and friends and would have wanted to work with you on projects again- this is how you grow a business, especially like yours that seems to be new, through happy customers. No matter how talented you are, kindness and consideration goes a long way. read more

I followed this florists work and really appreciated it. Unfortunately my interaction with Melissa was difficult, she was very unresponsive. She promised me a "proposal" that was never received. I contacted her months in advance to set everything up and she would tell me that we were on, however a week out, and she never followed through. Didn't reply to texts or calls....not fun when you're planning a wedding and anxiety is already through the roof. My order was small for my wedding and I was really looking forward to her creation. No matter how small the order, careful attention should be placed onto every customer. Instead it felt like my business did not matter. Luckily, I found a great local florist who helped me determine everything I needed and answered all my questions and relieved the anxiety! read more

11/2018 My daughter worked with Melissa for her wedding. The initial response was positive. She had a difficult time setting up a meeting and we did not meet until 1 1/2 weeks before the wedding. A proposal was sent less than one week before the wedding. Melissa and her team arrived 2 1/2 hours late in setting up. She stated she would be there at 12 noon and arrived at 2:45. She worked inside through the ceremony which was held outside. The mothers' coursages fell apart before the ceremony; they were fixed but never made it through ceremony. The tables were beautiful but not complete - the flowers were beautiful. Although my daughter did not express this, I was stressed through the process. This was a relatively small wedding, but it was my DAUGHTER'S wedding. Melissa is creative but needs to contact people in a timely manner - emails and calls were not answered - and being on time for the setup is paramount. read more
