I would have given one star if I didn't really enjoy the food for a reasonable price. Allyn's had the worst service I've ever experienced in my life. I have served before so I can tell the difference between minimal effort and complete indifference. At Allyn's the servers gave no effort. I will not be going back. read more

Allyn's is a NoLa inspired restaurant on Columbia Parkway. They have outdoor seating which is awesome in the hotter months, and so pleasant early evenings in fall. Best part PETS ARE WELCOME! The Taco Salad here and Chicken Salad are my favorite plates here. They have an awesome assortment of wine that you can buy to take home, or buy and take to your table. On weekends they have live music and random live performances on Wed. and Thurs. Perfect Sunday Funday spot! read more

2 friends and I ate here in celebration of a birthday. It was my first time and I thought the food was great. They were very accommodating to a few requests with a few up-charges but they weren't much. We spent $86 between the 3 of us and that was ordering an appetizer for us to share, each of us had an alcoholic beverage and each had an entree PLUS shared a dessert. First, our appetizer, we had Fried Gator & Shrimp we asked for the gator & the shrimp to be grilled, no problem, just a small up-charge :) This was very good, it came with a cajun sauce that when the server took the empty plate, we were saddened that she took the sauce (should have kept the sauce). I ordered the Blackened Fish of the Day which was Mahi Mahi, with a side of broccoli & onion rings. Friend 1 got the same thing but with cajun fries, friend 2 got the Tuna with broccoli and mac & cheese. We all loved what we ordered! it was all delicious. The Mahi Mahi was tender and flaky, the broccoli was cooked perfectly. We asked for the cajun sauce and the server said it would be a .50 up-charge because they make it in-house, fine (we should have kept the sauce from the app). Now we know and now YOU know :) Learn from our mistake. On to dessert, we ordered Bread Pudding and it was DELICIOUS!! It was perfectly sweet and not too much of anything nor too little of anything. Great job in the kitchen with everything!!! My only critic is our server. I'm not saying she was terrible or mean or rude. She told us about happy hour before it was over and checked on us and pre-bussed but she was quick to walk away. For instance, we were ready to order our appetizer but had a question about it and I had a question about the fish of the day too. When she dropped off the drinks she asked if we were ready to order, I asked my question about the fish of the day, after answering my question, she started walking away, I said "excuse me, we have another question." She did that a few times. She may have had a big party in the back that we were not aware of because she was always doing something, as far as I could see. She just needs to be more in the moment when at a table, but I can understand being busy. I will definitely return :0) read more

I only perused their menu but was pretty impressed with the wide array of food to choose from. Our experience here, albeit short, was a good one. The staff was very friendly-everyone (including kitchen staff!) interacting with what were obviously regulars. They have quite an extensive beer and wine list -- that's all we had time to explore and we were rather impressed. The bartender even made suggestions and everything was really inexpensive (I think I've grown to accustomed to CA prices by now), which I'm finding to be a common theme in Ohio. I can get a mixed drink for under $4?? Unheard of! It seems Allyn's is a great local hangout and next time we're in town we will definitely be trying some of their authentic New Orleans fare. read more

Went for the first time on a Friday for dinner, the service was a little sketchy, to the point where the waitress took my wife's drink order and then walked away without taking mine. Food was ok, not great, but good. However, my wife and I were excited about trying the brunch, we really enjoy brunch and were looking forward to something different. So we went on a Sunday, were seated, without brunch menus, so the waitress came around, we ordered drinks and asked about brunch, she says they aren't doing brunch today, no explanation and walked away. So my wife and I were mulling over if we should just leave, but we had already ordered drinks and would have to wait anywhere else we went. So we waited, took quite a while for the drinks to arrive, and the place wasn't busy. Ordered food, and it took, in my opinion too long for the food to come out. Then the waitress basically was nonexistent. She didn't seem to interested in waiting on us. Food was once again good not great. So I paid the check with my card, tipped light, as the service was slow, but then when I checked my account they had charged me more then what I had signed for. Pretty sure that's fraud. Won't go back. read more

A nice selection of beer, and good food. They've been remodeling the place recently and it looks great. Service has been friendly. If you live nearby and need a bottle of vino, they have some for retail sale. I need to try more of the food before adding more stars to my review. read more

This was my first time at Allyns, but my friends have been there multiple times and only had good things to say. I ordered a draft beer, bottled beer, and the Philly steak sandwich for 20$. The sandwich was incredible, and it came with Cajun seasoned fries which were also really good. Plus, they bring out 5 different types of hot sauce to go with your food, which makes it fun to experiment. Definitely recommended. read more

Great food! Our server was a bit slow and seemed out of it but not horrible. We tried the gumbeax, loved it! Spicy with lots of sausage. It came with a soft bread thing, I don't know what it's called but it was delicious! Lol We also got the nachos with salsa and guac and ate all of it! I got the philly which was HUGE and some dirty chips. I could only finish about a quarter of my food. My hubby got the big al burger. He said it had lots of flavor for a standard burger. He finished his whole meal including the Cajun fries. Can't wait to go back and try the seafood platter and get a bowl of that gumbeaux again! read more

They have some good veggie items, like the chili dog. I think something had soy in it, probably the chili. It tasted amazing, though. Like if soy doesn't make you break out with big welts all over your face, then you'll love it. I probably will go back, but not as often as I would if it were soy free. The hummus is good, though. read more

I will return! This Cajun/Mexican neighborhood bar/restaurant is charming. Before 7pm you dine with young families. Then it turns young professional as evening approaches. I can only testify to the Cajun side of the menu. Go for the beans and rice, gumbo and jambalaya. House Cabernet is a good bargain too. read more

Had an abnormal experience at Allyn's recently. A couple things went wrong, but genuinely appreciate the owners prompt follow up and willingness to make things right. I will give this restaurant another shot. Allyn's has been there for 24 years, so they are definitely doing something right :) read more

Great food and great service. One of Cincinnati's hidden gems that everyone needs to know about!!!

This place has been here for a while. It's decorated with Allyn's personal bric-a-brac . Last visit I had a blackened turkey burger that was good. The wings are good and meaty with nice sauces. Long and diverse beer list, but no taps Good choices on the kids menu. The menu is large but can be hit or miss. What's good is good, what's not is not. I've had good luck with the blackened items. Mexican is OK; the burrito is good. Overall good solid pub fare. read more

I love everything about Allyn's! I am from California....... and when I visit Cincinnati - I go to Allyn's! ---- It feels good, looks good and has fabulous fresh food. Everything is delicious! Thank you Allyn! ----- You have a great restuarant with awesome service and yummy food. I love the casual fun atmosphere with a short nice drive from downtown --- and the huge selection of food, wine, beer and cocktails... everything tastes great. 5 Stars to You! read more

For a Cajun experience in the heart of southwestern Ohio, Allyn's is the spot. The food is just the right amount of spicy and southern. With five different hot sauces, I can't complain about the variety they provide in regards to flavor. The prices are a little higher than what I expected ($20+) per person before alcohol. Most appetizers and entrees are sharable :-) read more

It's never amazing but I always leave feeling satisfied. I am a salad eater and they have great selections and dressing. The black bean and rice salad is awesome and good carry out. I like the recent rehab of the bar. Overall I always enjoy the place. read more

You may have to wait for a half hour or so at the bar, but the food is usually worth it. Friendly bartender, friendly wait personnel. Friendly regulars at the bar. Parking can be difficult. read more

Allyn's is the best and Nikki is the best server in the City. The western omelette is fantastic.

Good jambalaya and red beans with rice and sausage. The Gumbo was a little off. For a bar, the food is not bad.

Update: The owner reached out to me, apologized, and offered to comp my next meal at Allyn's. I accepted his gracious offer. As I mentioned in my initial review, we enjoy eating here (usually). read more

This place is a hidden gem! It doesn't look like much from the outside but their Cajun-style food is awesome! The Cajun fries are the best! Their menu is definitely more unique than other places, but they put a nice twist on Cajun flavor. I had the fish sandwich which I would definitely recommend and my boyfriend had the jambalaya dog which he's been talking about ever since! We are for sure going back! read more

My first experience at Allyn's was terrific! Went with a group of 6 friends and 2 kids around 6 on a Friday and were seated in the back. The server was new and working her butt off! Very attentive and friendly. I love Cajun food and I was not disappointed. We did try all 4 "soups" and were huge fans of the red beans & rice and gumbeaux, jambalaya was not bad by any means but not a personal favorite, and I personally do not like sweet chili so the turkey chili I could not eat. We shared the ettouffee and the mardi gras pasta both with crawfish. Both dishes were huge, delicious, and very well portioned with crawfish. read more

I was working right across the street from this place, me and a co worker decided it looked like a good place for lunch so we went in to check it out, very happy with everything. I got the hot city wings and cajun fries, both were great, service was fast and friendly, reasonably priced, nice atmosphere, definitely would go again. read more

Hidden Cajun delight. This place is unassuming. Brightly painted on the outside, has the feel of a hole in the wall on the inside. Eclectic at its best. I met some friends here for a quick dinner before a concert on the river. It came highly recommended by a friend's colleague. There were 3 of us and each ordered a different meal which is nice to see your options. I ordered the scallops which came with two sides. The scallops were wonderful. Perfectly seasoned. I did not care for the green sauce they were placed in I believe it was a sort of pesto. Noting wrong with pesto, I'm just not a huge fan. We shared the vegan chili queso which had decent heat but you could still taste the veggies. My friend ordered something that she found to be to hot for her taste, they replaced her meal no questions asked. The service was great, the layout is a little odd but the atmospheres and good are terrific. I will be back! read more

The blackened catfish was good as well as the scallops. Also I enjoyed the gumbo too but the garlic mashed potatoes were inedible and the hush puppies and shrimp were way way over cooked. read more

The service was fast, friendly, and very helpful with our choices. The beer list is great and the mixed drink list was wonderful. The food was delicious! I had the taco salad with vegan chili and Kyle had wings. The hot wings were meaty and the sauce flavor was fantastic. We're definitely coming back. read more

Definitely recommend for a night out with friends or a date! Allyns has amazing food and a great atmosphere. The interior is unique and the outdoor seating is pleasant on a nice sunny day! My favorite food here is the jambalaya and also the black bean burritos. Seasoned perfectly with Cajun spices! read more

Haven't been there for years but going the Sunday for lunch. We're meeting my daughter and son in law from Chicago there. It is there favorite place in Cincy. Can't wait! Review will follow! read more

I write this review for two reasons, the food was very good, and our service was spot on! I had read some unfavorable reviews, which is fine, for I would prefer not to have those kinds of people sitting next to me as I enjoy my family and good food in a fun atmosphere. Margarita, Hummus app. Chicken Philly with MY OWN BAG of FRESH DIRTY CHIPS. Two Thumbs Up read more

Great food with excellent service. The specials are always delicious. Our server Beth was great. Will return because of the great service and fun atmosphere. Definitely recommend! read more

We have always enjoyed Allyn's because of their great craft beer selection and food but just had to review last nights dinner. It.Was.So.Good! While I am not vegan I like to eat healthy and have tried vegan options at Allyn's in the past (try the Jackfruit sandwich) so I tried the vegan Mardi Gras pasta since the regular MG pasta is my favorite on Allyn's menu. Welcome new favorite! The vegan version is everything the the regular version is and more. It is rich and creamy, a touch of spice and flavors that go together perfectly. The portion is generous enough that I will have some for lunch today. Great job Allyn, food, atmosphere and service are all 5 star! read more

I have been to Allyn's a few times over the years, so this review is long overdue seeing as I have always had a great experience here. The food is extremely good, offering a true cajun feel with healthy options as well. The drinks are at a great price point and they have a solid happy hour. Great casual dining and an affordable date night or dinner out with family. read more

WOW - what a great atmosphere! The bartender was great. My wife loves the Cajun menu items and I love the beer list. We live downtown and did not realize how easy this place is to get to. There is a little something for everyone at Allyn's. We went to Allyn's on Friday night and ended up sitting at the bar because of the wait. To my surprise, we were not disappointed. The bartender turned me on to some great Oktoberfest beers and my wife had a nice glass of wine from there wine list. Even though they seemed busy, it did not take long to get our food. Some of the best Cajun food I have ever had. I felt like I was in New Orleans. We can not wait to bring some friends here. It will definatly be very soon. read more

Absolutely awful. No service after sitting for 45 minutes. We asked and we were told "we are short staffed". I will never go again. Went to the beer for one beer, left without ever being asked for our order. Told by staff there was not a manager to speak with - this was on a Tuesday! read more

First time ordering, decided to carryout. Ordered the catfish platter, wings and chili. The fish was undercooked. The hushpuppies undercooked as well, still had batter inside. Wings made with dry rub, very salty. The chili was sweet. Overall food was horrible. Don't plan on going back. read more

Very slow service. Worst cajun food I have ever had. I don't like Popeyes but it's 5 star compared to this place. Do not waste your time if you have ever been to New Orleans and love cajun food this is not the place for you. Rude staff. Since I cannot reply to your response I will add it here. I was not the only one who did not not like your food or service, everyone else was simply too polite to say anything. And further more as you well know I was about to push the button on my phone to call the restaurant for service, I showed you my phone. I am far from cold hearted and hateful, you do not know me so how can you pass judgement on me? We waited over 25 minutes after we were out of drinks for refills before saying anything to you. We had other plans and did not want to wait for anything else to be fixed after waiting as long as we did for service to begin with. I could care less if you private message me or not and I usually don't leave reviews period but felt compelled to after leaving your restaurant. You can see how many reviews I have left and yours was the only negative one. We travel to New Orleans frequently and wanted good cajun food so we tried your restaurant hoping it would be a place close to home to enjoy the food we all love most and we left very disappointed. Your rude reply does not come as a shock as I felt we had been treated rudely while we were there. If you would have listened and heard what I said to you while you were at our table i would have tried to resolve the issue then but your reply had nothing to do with what i said so i gave up. I hope you have a wonderful night and weekend and maybe take a trip down south and learn a little southern hospitality. My good southern upbringing kept me from saying exactly what I thought while there and on here. read more

My husband and I decided to try Allyn's Cafe for the first time today after a friend told me there were vegetarian/vegan options. I'm a vegetarian but my husband is not so we always look for places that have good choices for both of us. Our server was extremely nice and very helpful in describing some of the vegan options I asked about. Very knowledgeable. I opted for the Vegan Chili Dog with Cajun Fries and my hubby got the Battered Cod Sandwich. Took a while to get our food (just a couple of tables were taken so it wasn't busy) but it was very tasty. Fries should have been hotter, but the portions were sufficient although I thought the menu in general was a bit pricey. The Vegan Chili Dog is best eaten with a knife and fork but was really good albeit a bit spicy (the vegan "dog", not the chili). I have a low tolerance for spicy food and didn't realize it or I may have ordered something different. Having said that, GREAT flavor in both the chili and the dog. My hubby loved the battered cod. We both said we'd eat there again if in the area, but probably wouldn't make a special trip just to go there. I think I would have given it 4 stars except I thought the menu items were a little overpriced. read more

Our women's group held our Christmas party there Dec. 9,2017. They were so friendly & accommodating! There were 32 of us in their back private room. Food was delicious & service quick. Thank-you Allyn's Cafe. read more

i would go back but nothing too impressive. the food was decent, the drink list is decent and the ambiance is decent. i had a taco salad with chicken- i've had better and i've had worse. one of my friends had a fajita and another had an enchilada and they were both good. every time i would drive by it i wanted to go in, it kind of looks like tourist trap on the outside (all colorful and a patio) but it wasn't as good as i had hoped. read more
