We contracted with Allstate for a cross-country move. Everything seemed to be OK until the end when we tried to get reimbursed for a change in final delivery location. We were told we would receive a refund, but when it came time to collect, they denied ever having made that commitment. Aside from the flagrant dishonesty, what was most disturbing was that we had gone out of our way to accommodate their late delivery to us. We even allowed them to deliver to a very angry customer ahead of us, even though we were next in line, which actually helped save them money. Going back on their pledge to honor the refund was an unethical move, and shattered any good will we might have had towards them. Avoid these people if at all possible. EDIT: I received a response from the owner with the most bland, impersonal reply possible: "Thanks for the feedback." The fact that they failed to address my complaint at all tells you everything you need to know about this company. They do not care about their customers, and once they have your money, you no longer matter to them. There are many moving companies out there. Don't use this one. read more

My experience with Allstate Moving Systems is that it LIES and CHEATS. It told me of a wrong delivery date (not related to pandemic circumstances) and lost a box that it denied my claim for even though I paid for full-replacement insurance. BUYER BEWARE. Allstate's response to my post is just more self-serving words with no responsible action. People watch for how behavior matching what one says. Allstate's words and behavior have no connection. I cannot say enough great things about my experience with Joe & Lisa. Moving across country is stressful enough, but they were clear and communicative the whole time! It was fun to get updates along the way, and everything arrived in tact! Including an extensive glassware collection. PHEW! This company was hired by one of our equipment vendors to deliver, assemble, and install physical therapy equipment to our new neuro rehabilitation clinic in Tarzana California. They failed to complete the job in a adequate and professional manner. They one of the large physical therapy mat tables upside down in one of the spaces and failed to place any of the four tables in the final position even through provided a layout drawing. They failed to assemble one of the equipment pieces correctly and when asked to alter - the technician stated they were unable due to an issue with the unit. I was able to reconfigure the unit w/o issue the next day. One of their workers drove one of the trucks through the building planter damaging the landscaping. Their management lied when confronted about it even though I have pictures of the muddy truck tires and damage. When requested to return and complete the job they refused stating they had an acceptance signature on the paperwork. A signature they obtained as they hurried out the door. We will not be using this company again and have notified the equipment vendor of this as well. Their unwillingness and blatant refusal to address or even correct their deficiencies makes them very unprofessional and very distant from customer centric and should be avoided at all costs. read more

This company is the best-- and I speak from experience. I've moved (count 'em) 24 times, and this was my best move ever. Courteous, efficient, and thoroughly professional from the first phone call to the final delivery. My house was a mover's nightmare-- box upon box of fragile and valuable things like artwork, delicate but heavy things like crystal and china, glass tabletops, mirrors... you get the picture. It was transported cross-country and it all came through without a scratch. Special thanks to Lisa, the coordinator, who oversaw every aspect of the move and kept me sane through it all; Haddam, the packer whose sturdily-packed boxes would have survived a drop from a 10-story building without harm; and Lee, the driver who escorted it all from door to door with efficiency and good cheer. First, unlike many other movers, Allstate respects the importance and accuracy of an in-home estimate. Joe was on time, was extremely thorough, friendly, professional and knowledgeable. We were very happy with our experience with Allstate/United Vanlines. Joe was the only agent, out of all the moving companies we called, to request to give us a quote in person. He told us that the price we paid would not exceed the quote (unless we happened to add more items later on). Sure enough, our cost did NOT exceed our quote. In fact, we ended up paying less because we got rid of quite a bit before the move. It was so nice to know that if they were going to charge us more for adding more items, that they would also be willing to decrease our price for getting rid of items! Next there were the movers, who came to collect our things. I wish I remembered their names because they do deserve the recognition. But they arrived EXACTLY when they said they would. They explained everything to me and they offered to take apart all of the large furniture for me, without any extra cost. They were so kind and efficient, and they treated my stuff with care- down multiple flights of stairs. Lisa, the person who was my point of contact during the whole move, was also extremely helpful. She called me to let me know when the movers would be arriving, when my stuff arrived to the warehouse, when my stuff was leaving the warehouse, when it had arrived in the new state and when it'd be arriving at our new place. I never had to worry or wonder about any of it, because I had Lisa!! When the items arrived at our apartment, it was the exact day both Joe and Lisa had told me it would arrive, so I was prepared. The movers who brought my stuff were just as awesome and helpful as the ones who picked up my stuff 3,000 miles away. Unfortunately for them, there were some unforeseen circumstances in regards to unloading the moving truck. For example, my building manager told us we could park it in a certain spot but when the day came, a dumpster was blocking the spot. I thought for sure the movers would charge me extra to have to bring the stuff in from a different, further-away spot. I was worried this would result in some sort of fee. Instead, the movers were fine with the change of plans, and I was never charged any fees. honestly, this whole time I was worried about some sort of catch that people who used other moving companies had warned me about. But there wasn't any! Lastly, out of the hundreds of boxes and items I had shipped across the country the only item that broke was a bookcase. Thankfully, I wasn't too attached to it and the movers were helpful with walking me through the entire claims process. They helped me put in a claim that day and by the next day, I had an email from the company saying a check for the cost of the bookcase was on it's way. Sure enough, we received the check to buy a new bookcase and our $1400 reimbursement for using one less shipping container than expected. I don't plan on moving across country any time soon, because it was such a stressful experience in so many unexpected ways. But the most unexpected of all, was that what should have been the hardest part of the move was actually made easy by Allstate/United Vanlines. If I do end up moving again, I'll be sure to use them- no hesitation! read more

From Jeff who estimated our move cost/time to Jessica who scheduled everything and answered all general questions to Randy who packed the things we did not pack ourselves as well as organize logistics for the move day to the 10 movers who showed up on time to move us, the experience was made less stressful for us by these professional people! Have to say I was skeptical. Lowest price quote, very helpful...I had my guard up. But Joe and the team at Gemini helped me every step of the way. They said if my weight was less than the estimate that is get a refund...and it happened. A few items broke in my move? They handled the claim quickly and efficiently. The move went smooth from packing to loading and unloading (about out to Irving on that one - very good about communicating at all points). I had to schedule a move for my company from our old building to a new site that was (at the time) under construction. I worked with Mark the VP of Commercial Relations and all I have to say was that this man had the patience of a saint! I unfortunately had to ask him for several proposal changes and push backs on our move date; he took it all in stride, he was helpful and a complete professional! His foreman, Raul for the move was super cool (personality and leadership wise) he got his guys in there and they did their moving ninja magic and had us moved out in record time and packed into the new space so quickly. The guys (movers) were awesome to work with as well; all good-natured, funny and super professional. They took such pride in the work and that only made them that much more great to work with. I was EXTREMELY impressed with the quality of service, pricing and my overall experience. I would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for commercial or residential movers. For starters, I have moved numerous times... throughout L.A. & cross country a number of times, so I'm no stranger to moving companies and processes. This process sucked. I was moving to Detroit and got 3-4 quotes and chose United/Allstate. They had the highest price and what a mistake. I had a 1BR apartment, so 2 guys showed up (next time, I'll request 3). 1 guy hustled from start to finish and the other guy - not so much. He was a chatty cathy and doing all the paperwork and I swear, didn't lift a finger to help his partner out. My move wasn't your typical move, as my items had to be crated. So a flatbed truck showed up with 3 huge crates (17') on the back of it. So they would load up the crates, take the items back to their warehouse and load it on a freight truck for a cross-country move. I was driving, so told them what I would take with me, including a piece of luggage they packed (I made them undo the crate and get it out, not my fault chatty cathy didn't communicate this). They also showed up with 0 wardrobe boxes. I called the guy who quoted my move & the move coordinator and they were all stumped. What person moves cross-country (even locally) without wardrobe boxes? So, I had to leave the movers at my place (less than pleased) to go find and buy wardrobe boxes (mind you it was 8am and no places were open yet). So far, we're 1/2 hour in and this is already disorganized. It took these guys about 4 1/2 hours to pack these crates and it should've taken tops... 3. But again... only 1 guy was doing all the furniture wrapping, moving and packing the truck. The move coordinator gave me my first estimated day of arrival... the day after I was set to arrive in Detroit. So I planned my cross-country drive accordingly to be there by that day. Mid-way through my trip, she called to say it'd be Monday (instead of Saturday). This worked out as I was able to enjoy my trip an extra day or 2 without rushing. Then that Monday came... and went. No call from her, no shipment. I called Tuesday and she had to look into where the shipment was. Where it was? Why aren't you tracking it? That's your job! The day it was scheduled to arrived is in the past, where were you? Later that day, she said "oh, we don't know where it is, but we'll find out". WTF! I understand it went on a freight shipment and was now in the hands of a 3rd party. Don't care. Your job is to keep tabs on it and update me if anything changes and NOT wait for me to call you and ask where it is. So, the shipment was now scheduled (3rd eta) for Thursday. On Thursday, she called. Nope, it'll be here Friday and they would try (unsuccessfully) to aim for a Saturday delivery to me. I guess no other shipments could be bumped to accommodate my 5-day late shipment. I asked for a little discount or credit to accommodate my storage unit sitting empty for a week and me still having to pay for it. Nope. Nothing. It finally arrived via 3rd party (corrigan) and was loaded into my storage unit without a hitch. The 2 guys had a plan... 1 guy unloads the truck onto flatbed dollies and then the other guy takes those and loads my storage unit. I told them I needed boxes accessible and furniture in the back (about 1/4 way through), so better late than never. They were great, worked and unloaded and were done in 2 hours. One and one. I would NOT recommend using United/Allstate for a cross-country move and unless you keep strong tabs on it, then perhaps even local. This was a highly disorganized, poorly communicated move. read more

My family recently moved from Los Angeles, CA to Boise, ID and needed to move somewhat quickly due to a tight time frame. From front to back, Allstate was incredible. The customer service was some of the best I have ever received in any walk of life. Joe, who came to our house to do our evaluation/quote was kind, thorough, and accurate. Lisa, who was our point person throughout the process was SO good and extremely sweet, calling to check in and update us on progress, and essentially just holding our hands through what otherwise would have been a stressful process. The guys who came to pack up our stuff were pros. Efficient and careful, professional and friendly. Nick, the manager, is a great guy and it is no wonder he has such a great team. Plus, our stuff was going to get from LA to Boise so quickly that it would have beat us there had we not arranged for storage on the Boise side! I have had moves in the past where I waited up to 3 weeks to get my belongings. Needless to say, the timeliness was unmatched. The logistics of moving are not fun. We know this. But Allstate genuinely made it wildly better. I strongly recommend, and will 100% use their services again next time. Thank you guys!!! read more

I've moved many times over the past 40 years and my experience with Allstate Moving Systems, an agent of United, was the best experience I've ever had from start to finish. The in-home estimate by Joe came back at a very reasonable price. I had many many questions and concerns and was nervous about selecting the right movers. Lisa, who works in Allstate's office coordinating the entire move, was outstanding. I can't say enough positive about Lisa's professional, patient and friendly demeanor. She was there for me every step of the way. I think I called Lisa four times one day, and she always remained pleasant and reassuring that the move would go smoothly, and it did!! Jose and his moving teams in both California and Nevada were excellent. They arrived as scheduled on both ends and nothing was damaged. I had the opposite experience from the person that gave this company a one star review. I used Gemini to book a cross country move from California to Massachusetts, and they were very professional, courteous, and helpful. They were the lowest price out of three companies I got estimates from (even lower than uhaul for a full-service move, amazingly enough), but despite the low price they did not scrimp on services, and my shipment was delivered by the date promised on my estimate. Every time I called with a question they returned my call promptly, and were diligent about providing me with status updates on the location of my moving van. My only minor quibble is that they might have given me better packing advice for my cheap pressboard furniture (i.e. disassemble it before shipping), but other than that my move with them went very well. read more

This was one of the worst moving experiences I have had. I am going to report them to the better business bureau after writing this review. Prior to hiring these people for the job, I spoke with Joseph and explained to him that i would be moving about 5 minutes away from my current location and that the road was narrow. I asked whether or not they were equipped to handle that PRIOR to having them come out to estimate the job. "oh sure", he said. "we go everywhere". So, i had them come out and give an estimate. It was a "not to exceed" estimate which included packers. The packers arrived at my house 15 minutes early, which was nice. They were friendly enough and did a good job packing. My complaint with them was that boxes were not identified clearly enough. In other words, they would label the box "kitchen" and then write "glass, bakeware, miscellaneous". When i went to open the box, i would find glass bows, a toaster oven, tupperware containers, kitchen gloves...etc. I needed more specific labeling on what the box had in it. It took me 4 days to find my toaster oven so that i could make toast for breakfast. Annoying. Now comes the most annoying. The crew of movers were AWESOME....friendly, professional and hard working. Unfortunately, the management sucked!! Joseph sent the wrong size truck and moving 5 minutes away, ended up taking almost 10 hours. The truck was way too large for my road as well as my load. It was less than half full. They arrived to my street and could not get in because the truck was too large. They called me and told me i had to pay for a smaller truck and an extra man. If i didn't agree to the increase in price, they said "ok lady, we'll just take your stuff back to the warehouse and you call us and tell us when you want to pay". A huge argument ensued and i ended up being bullied into almost $500 extra. Had Joseph done his job and researched my address, he would have seen that a smaller truck was required. Had an extra fee been discussed PRIOR to my move, i would have had the opportunity to accept or decline using their company. I did not appreciate receiving a "not to exceed" price and then being bullied and blackmailed in the end for someone's negligence. My suggestion is to shop around and DO NOT use Gemini Moving Specialists. They are certainly specialists. Unfortunately, it involves unethical behavior and practices. And the BBB will hear all about this too. read more
