SCLERAL CONTACT USERS WILL HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET THEY DO NOT ACCEPT INSURANCE FOR SCLERAL…read moreLENSES. I've been waiting almost a month to be seen and was not informed that scleral lenses are exclusively billed out of pocket until the day of my appointment. They are not timely when responding to voicemails, and they did not inform me of this policy when I made my appointment despite clarifying exactly what I needed done and what insurance I would need to have in order to be covered. I'm wildly frustrated and angry because my eyes have been in so much pain because every time I try to get seen to have my sclerals replaced, I deal with more and more problems with insurance and have to reschedule a month down the line at a new facility every time. I literally just want to see and not be in pain, and it's facilities like this with nonsensical policies and inconsistent communication that keep me from having pain-free, clear vision.

The ironic part is that first visit I mentioned my issues I have had past blunt trauma with my eye at a younger age so part of my peripheral vision was gone since then. It took 3 visits to finally getting a basic test conducted to see if my peripheral vision was not good (obviously it's not when told from the beginning) so then the next conclusion from the doctor is I need to see a neurologist (I might have a tumor or mass behind my eye her words directly). Get referred to then said neurologist, wasn't even in the office for 15 minutes and said I don't know how to put this, but the doctor (Dr. Garcia) you had didn't notice the basic things about eye damage (I have a detached retina) so he was amazing by getting me help immediately which is leading to me getting surgery the same week. If I didn't meet this neurologist I still would of been praying to get the right answer. Overall summary is it took me almost 4 months to get a answer and it took me meeting someone other than Dr. Garcia to find out. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy.

When I showed up for my appointment, they told me that it was "the day before." They then claimed that they called to remind me - I did not receive a phone call. Avoid this office!

Once I was taken back to a room, I was told that I'd be getting a full eye exam including dilation. I actually just had a complete eye exam 2 months ago so I didn't feel that getting another one today was necessary. I was told that it's protocol for the Dr to know the health of my eyes before seeing me. Well, I could've asked that my records be sent over so the Dr could go back as many years as he wanted, but that wasn't an option. They were adamant that I receive a duplicate eye exam today, at my expense. I declined and made sure that the staff knew that I don't have issues with my vision and that I just needed an external bump looked at. They refused to let me go any further without that exam. An exam that I didn't need because I JUST had one 2 months ago. I knew that my regular optometrist couldn't drain a chilazion which is why I chose to go Azure and see an ophthalmologist. I took time off of work to get to this appointment and my time was wasted. They were so concerned with their protocol that they were not understanding that having two eye exams done for no reason is a waste of money. My insurance isn't great and I know I would've been stuck with a large bill for the dilated exam I didn't need. I am very disappointed in this facility. My time was wasted.
