We called Alliance for help with a skunk we suspected was living under our porch. Based on the experience we've had over the week, I would say that while Alliance seems strong in insect management/prevention services, wildlife removal is not their strong suit.
I was put off from the beginning when the tech arrived. I answered the door and he didn't say hello or give me his name, he greeted me with a gruff "smells like a skunk out here". He suspected the skunk was under the porch and blocked up entry ways to set the traps. When he was writing up the paperwork he advised that if I wanted to know if the skunk was there, I could stomp on the floor above where he suspected it was living and I would smell it. This was puzzling to me because the last thing I wanted was for it to spray again - the smell from the initial spray was still going strong after two weeks!
The woman I spoke to at the sales office had told me that she would call each day to let me know the tech was going out to the house and tell me if they caught anything, but I never received a call from her.
On the third night of the traps being out, apparently an animal ate some of the food but the trap didn't work to catch them. When I read the slip that was left in the mailbox, it said that the tech had banged under the porch with a pole. Again, I can't think of anything that would have done outside of prompting the skunk to spray again, so I'm not sure what result they were going for there.
My husband and I decided that since we were not seeing results with Alliance we would use another company who specializes in wildlife removal/management. We told Alliance the traps could be removed, and upon arriving home I found the plastic garbage bag that had been wrapping one of the traps just left on the lawn. The tech had used pavers and rocks from my yard to block up the entrances under the porch, and those were left in place and not returned to their original locations in the yard. I was pretty annoyed that they didn't clean up after themselves properly.
Within 12 hours of the other company's three traps being set, two of them had caught animals. That to me was more evidence that we didn't have service from Alliance that was focused on our issue. While they seemed sincere in their interest to help us, I don't think the necessary experience was there and it was an overall unpleasant experience. Since the service is quite expensive ($700+) and not guaranteed, I can't recommend that someone uses their services for a skunk issue. read more
