Thank you to Ruby (sitter) and Leah (owner) for their excellent care of our cat Daphne. Ruby played…read morewith Daphne and gave her attention / love while we were away, and we could not be more grateful. Each visit, Ruby texted us a photo and update to keep us assured of Daphne's safe care. We love our cat dearly (ok, I'm obsessed with her...), so to find trustworthy, fellow cat-lovers who are dedicated to cat care has made our trips away from Chicago a lot less stressful. Leah is professional and organized with a contract listing time / home-visit preferences, and we appreciated that Ruby came by before we left to understand Daphne's routine and care. Highly recommend!

My cat is older and a bit quirky (he likes to groom himself in the bathtub with running water) so I…read moredecided to try River East Cat Sitters during two recent trips out of town. I have to say this is by far an outstanding, compassionate, and professional cat sitter service. When I initially contacted Leah (the owner) by email-she recommended Susan (who my cat absolutely adores). The Initial Visit- The initial visit with Susan was at my apartment and was free of charge. She came over to meet and greet me and my cat and to talk about my cat's needs and routine. She was able to see the food, water fountain, litterbox, etc. The Cat Care- Upon notifying River East Cat Sitters when I went out of town-Susan came to care for my cat daily. She spent a half an hour each visit with him. Since my cat is shy-I was expecting for him to just remain under the table-but NOPE-he loved her visits and she even turned on the water in the tub for him to get his little head wet and groom himself. He was so well adjusted and happy with Susan that when I returned from each visit-it was just like I had never left. He was content, happy, well fed, and well adjusted. The Fees- It costs $18.00 per half an hour visit. You can pay via Paypal on their web site. I left a tip for each visit on the table for Susan as well. River East Cat Sitters also offers mail pickup and other minor services for a nominal fee. The Business- Is licensed and bonded. A contract is provided and signed before the date of service and clearly outlines the roles and responsibilities of River East Cat Sitters. Why Susan is the BEST- FYI-Ask for Susan! She is truly amazing! She left a welcome home note for me when I returned from each of my trips. She also sent daily text messages and pictures of my cat! It was very comforting and reassuring! TRULY STELLAR SERVICE!

City Pets - Your baby will get his/her own pet suite to await your return after their 1-2 hour grooming appointment. We're cage-free!

We love taking our cocker spaniel to City Pets. It's expensive, but well worth the cost (and really…read moreonly $10 more than any other groomer we tried). The price also includes a lot of things, like nail trims, that other places charge extra for. Our dog is a rescue and she has severe anxiety about kennels/cages. Their cage free policy is perfect for her. They always do an excellent job. One time they didn't cut her quite short enough and they were very understanding and trimmed her up for free. They always add little extras like bows in her hair or on her collar, which I find adorable. I haven't tried any services other than grooming.

Grooming: I initially took Cooper here for doggie day care since I was working and going to part-time business school. I noticed they offered grooming and decided to try them out since their rate was less than at Kaiser's. The second time I took Cooper for grooming, he came home with such a close shave! Lisa told me they had to take extra fur off since it was matted. I thought it wasn't a big deal until a year later when my husband and I noticed that Cooper's fur was not growing back. We took him to the vet to confirm it wasn't due to a medical reason, and she told us that his fur had been cut down too short that it destroyed his fur follicles. Please see the attached before and after photos. We are distraught that his beautiful fur has not grown back (his neck especially remains bare). Doggie Daycare: The dogs are not given walks during the day. Instead, there are just pee pads on the floor so that the dogs can relieve themselves inside. This can be very counter-intuitive for a puppy who has just learned to be house-trained.
