It's taken me a while to write this because I found it very upsetting. We took my Pom/Poodle Mix in…read moreto be groomed at this location for the second time about a month ago. I settled on a 7 blade because he needed to be groomed and shaving was their immediate, only option given, and the 7 length they showed wasn't that short. When I came back, he was shaven down much shorter. He was not matted prior, and we verified this with the groomer before we left to ensure they wouldn't do anything I didn't want. He has a double coat and shouldn't have been shaved with what was, at least, a 2 or 3 blade. It was much, much shorter than I agreed to, you could see his pink skin through his fur. It made him very uncomfortable and cold. The shave and the few areas that were actually cut were very choppy. His ears were longer, as I asked for, but only one was actually v-shaped - the other was cut straight across and forgotten about. They didn't shave around the muzzle as I asked them to, but they charged an extra ten for it anyway. ??? He came back looking like a civil war general around the muzzle. Overall, it looked very rushed, which was really disappointing because he was there for 4 hours because we agreed to give them more time since they were running behind. They indicated no behavioral problems, only that he didn't really like his feet messed with (which we spoke with the groomer about beforehand, as he once had his paw pad shaved off by a groomer at another grooming facility). The staff has always been nice, but seemingly unskilled in his fur type, or perhaps uncomfortable with poodle mixes. It's seemingly very hard to find one who won't just shave them down, regardless if they actually have mats or not.

She was brought in as a feral stray and the staff worked with her to be socialized. With some love, she has become a wonderful pet. Our second pet was a 1 year old dog in 2021. Then a kitten in 2022, another dog (for my daughter who was a senior in college at the time) in Jan 2024, and another cat in May 2024. Each of these animals had different histories, and with some love and affection at home, they have become wonderful pets. Our last cat had a respiratory illness when we adopted him. This was fully disclosed to us at the time, and they provided meds which cleared him up. We got full vet checks and medical histories for all, and the kitten we adopted in 2022 was able to come back to the SPCA to be neutered when he was old enough.

We have found that pricing is consistently about 4% cheaper at Braxton's than Concord Pet, BUT coupon users will benefit at Concord Pet. If you factor in each store's coupons, Concord Pet is cheaper. In addition, they have the rewards program, AND, for our particular food, once we buy 12 bags, the 13th is FREE! That is pretty cool. The store is very neat, with a specialty bakery (seriously, homemade cookies and cakes for dogs) in the front, and you-name-it for pets is everywhere else in the store. They have the most gigantic Mammoth flossy rope toy in front. I don't dare look at the price tag, but it sure looks fun! A lot of the Nylabone products are significantly higher priced at this store than on Amazon, or even at Braxton's. I hate to bottom-line it all the time, since the associates here are always very kind, but when you spend as much as we do on animals, you need to pay attention. I will say that like Braxton's, Concord Pets offers a TON of products from mom-n-pop manufacturers, that you will never find at the box stores, nor on Amazon, so they are always wonderful for that. If you have a pet with allergies, you will never find such a selection of creative foods, all made to cater to any special diet your pet may have. The associates are always on their toes to help, and will go the extra mile and then some. All in all, a great deal for the things we buy, a great place to even just look around and see all that is out there and get ideas for little extras that you never knew you "needed" for your pets.
