To Love A Canine Rescue - Adopted my dog here, I'm so happy and in love!

A wonderful rescue that care about finding homes for the little fur babies who need one. They have…read morean excellent vetting process and everyone we worked with was great. Lisa, Erin, Mary, Mary Beth all really care about animals and their well being. Before you considering buying your new fur baby, please strongly considering adopting. I love TLC mission and the process isn't overwhelming. They really work with you and your schedule and help to match you with an animal that fits your family. You basically look at their website, fill out an application, do an interview, if you're approved you pick out an animal you wish to meet, meet animal and if you feel it is a good fit for your home you pay the adoption fee and go home with your new babe to their furever home! Super simple and easy. I know it is tough picking based off a picture and be mindful no holds! But I promise the right one will come along and fill your heart! #AdoptDontShop

So happy I was able to adopt my English Cream Golden Retriever from To Love A Canine. I am apart of…read morethis program that trains rescue dogs to become service dogs and was thankfully able to get my wonderful dog for free as a military veteran. The adoption process was easy since I'll be going through the program and they found me a dog that is everything and more than what I wanted and expected in a doggie. She is so relaxed, calm and very lovable. She loves attention and needs it constantly which is what I want. I can't wait to get her trained so she can help me in the home on days where I can't get out of bed because of my back and difficulty doing so. I am so thankful for the team at this rescue for making the adoption experience easy and fast. After they found me a dog that would match my preferences, they emailed me a picture of Navi ( her new name is Navidad, since we bought her before Christmas. We met Navi the next week, and I basically got to bring home my new furry daughter the same day. I was able to meet the foster family who had her to ask questions about her and to find out her favorite treats, food she eats and to get any other information I wanted. Brought Navi home and she bonded quickly with me and my daughter. She dragged me up the steps and somehow knew where we lived. It's like she knew she was home. It's been almost 2 months now since she's been adopted and it has been the best experience of my life. My dog changed me in so many ways, and for her being my first dog I am so happy I got her. Her temperament and personality matches ours and we love her so much. If I decide in the future to get another dog I would adopt from To Love A Canine Rescue again.

An amazing organization doing great work. I had an excellent experience with MLAR and have urged…read moremany others to check them out. I don't get why people are so mad about their policies which are in place for the sake of the animals. Also, there is definitely some leniency if you are rescuing a senior or special-needs animal. Caring and generous staff, well cared-for animals, and lots of support. Keep up the good work Main Line!

I am deeply disappointed and hurt by the way I have been treated by the SPCA throughout a serious…read moresituation. Cocoa was taken into their custody after a wrongful allegation was made that has been proven wrong by police themselves. What makes this even more upsetting is that while Cocoa was being taken into their custody, he suffered bruising around the ribs, which has raised serious concerns for me about what happened while in their care. I also spoke to Nicole Wilson by phone, and instead of receiving compassion, professionalism, and help in locating my loved dog, I was being disrespected and unfairly treated. Imagine having your beloved dog taken away, and no one there to help you or console you. I have been fighting for months to find Cocoa and to get answers as to what happened and why I was being treated the way I was when all of this had NOTHING to do with me. I deserve to be heard, treated with respect, and given clear answers about Cocoa. I was just informed he was adopted after speaking to a dispatch officer, who informed me the dog was also never posted on the website which to me is very sneaky knowing I was looking for Cocoa everyday and night.

Harnessed to Hope Northern Breed Rescue - Frosty!

Harnessed to Hope Northern Breed Rescue

This isn't technically an animal shelter, but Yelp doesn't have any better options. Harnessed to…read moreHope (HTH) is a breed-specific rescue agency with a focus on Northern breeds (Siberian Huskies, Alaskan Malamutes, American Eskimos, Samoyeds, Keeshonds, Norwegian Elkhounds, and related mixes). In other words, they take in needy dogs and volunteers provide foster homes for them until the agency is able to find a "fur-ever" permanent adoptive home. And this is how the amazing, adorable Siberian Husky named Frosty came into my life. The adoption process was amazingly simple (paper application, interview, provide three references). The last step is a home visit on the day of your adoption--they brought three dogs I had seen on the website to my home so I could meet each of them. And...an hour later, I was a new dog owner. Post-adoption, there's an e-mail group to share questions, a blog with updates of adopted dogs, and the agency does a great job of following up to see if you need any help. I've found that if I e-mail them with questions, I would get prompt, thorough replies, which was much appreciated. Definitely recommended if you're looking for a furball to be a part of your life (and as if it were even a question, adoption is definitely the way to go). Note: They only adopt to people living in eastern PA, southern NJ, and parts of MD and DE. Tip: Available dogs are posted on their website with a description and picture, and you can e-mail foster homes directly to get more information.
