Plus, Chinese parents are so hilarious about their children. They would like to pay everything for their kids' education. But, some parents are still leaving simply because Coash Alysia loves money more than the sport itself. Her nickname is "Money Lover". She has highest class fee collection in the region. Here are some of her policies: 1. Each term, 20% down payment ahead for the program you choose (if you try to terminate your contract with her in the middle of term, sorry, you are out of luck. This down payment is nonrefundable.) ; 2. $25 late fee if you pay the monthly fee later than the first day of your class in the month (She will remember clearly when it is your first day of class. If you turn in the fee during your second class, even though it is only a 2 or 3 days later, then you are still out of luck and she will go after you for the late fee.); 3. Registration fee $95. It is unlike other clubs, where they use part of this fee to pay for USAG membership. This fee is paying nothing, but for her; 4. If you choose to be on the team, it is even more bizarre. Each team member has to pay her nonrefundable $300 for a musical, choreographic edition of the program; 5. Plus, you have to agree on paying her "transportation" costs--$0.5/mile, hotel, meals ($40/day), plus floor time at $180/day; 6. Other than that, you need to pay in advance $900 to cover her cost and USAG membership required by competition; 7. What is most shocking is the monthly fee you are paying is double all other clubs' fee nearby; 8. You have make-up time only twice in the year in a specific time she dedicates. She will use all public school holidays for her private lessons instead of make-up class. All in all, her money-making is clearly her top if not sole priority. This person is greedy. She will lay a hand on you to get money whenever she can. When you deal with her, try not to express much interest to her until she offers you some discount or waives a late fee in your summer camp selection. Don't decide anything onsite. Take the proposed contract and do some homework. One thing about referral to this club is to understand the person's position. Certainly, his/her daughter(s) is there. Higher team member enrollment means lower fees paid by each individual since the coach's fee is shared. Also, you should understand where she/he stands. What is his/her profession? Attorney, Doctor, Mutual fund managers... Those people don't pay attention to money much. They just want to pave the road for their children's education. If you are like me--just an ordinary person who lives on a paycheck each month--you should definitely stay away from this place. Being a team member, you will turn out to pay a monthly fee of $550--or even more. But I guarantee you that you will get a better service someplace else with half that price. When choosing a club, you should understand what your purpose is. If it is being a strong candidate for higher levels, then this is not the place. If it is just for fun or to increase your child's confidence, then choose a recreational program, not a team. You don't want to be skinned by her. My daughter used to be there. As a parent, it was hilarious. I watched how the team students performed better than the recreation ones. I put my kid in the team program just wanting to push her into a high level. But, not a half a year had passed and my kid told me that she wanted to quit. "It is boring," she said. While we see all kinds of good performances, the kids have to repeat every day the same thing again and again for hours. It caused me to think if it is worth it. All Star Rhythmic Gymnastics business owner Wu Yan is a thief. To be honest, I stood up because thief Wu owes me money. I had a fight with her over money. Other than that, I may not be concerned with her thieving in tax. I am a Chinese American. I cried out as a victim and I haven't been in a position to cry out for others. So here I am. I decided to stand up and fight her for all those parents from whom she has stolen. Thief Wu, you owe us money. In August 2009, I got an email from a Chinese doctor in a Chinese school. She was promoting thief Wu. Since then, my daughter had been in thief Wu's place for 3 years. My observations of the three years: 1. We paid thief Wu around $12,000 for the three years for extreme low level training. On each check, we wrote "Wu Yan" as recipient. She cashed out all checks except depositing three of them worth $1800 into her Capital One account. That means the $10,000 I paid her has no trace of income in her bank record. 2. She refused to give us her SS# to let us fill out a childcare expense form. But she did release that number both to her Russian customer and to customers of other nationalities. (Comment: as a sole proprietor, she can apply for an EIN, but she refused to do it. She doesn't want a tax id from the government other than her social.) 3. Some parents informed her that they would move their daughters away to other clubs. She immediately dropped those parents off her mailing list, even though their daughters, who had prepaid their courses, were still in her place and hadn't finished the term. 4. Each term she sent out a contract with "All-Star Rhythmic Gymnastics World", which never registered with Fairfax county court house. In that contract, she asked for a team fee ahead of time, a registration fee, and a 20% one-year tuition fee. By the time I told her that we would drop my daughter off her program, we paid her $2,185 already. She refused to give back any money. Instead she claimed that we owe her money by signing that contract. Since 2009, she used the contract signed by us to claim that she would not give back refund to anybody who dropped out of her program. Case 1, a lady paid her over $1,000 and didn't let her daughter attend one day of her program. She kept the money. Case 2, a lady paid her $1,400 and her daughter was there only 2 weeks when some bigger kids' rope-slapped her in the face. That girl was only 7 years old, and her mother was afraid of this happening again. Therefore, she dropped off her daughter right way. Thief Wu called her husband and her friend demanded the money to which the customer was allegedly committed to pay by signing the contract. Case 3, We paid her $2,185 by the time we told her that we want to drop. She claimed that we signed a contract with her. We owed her all the money despite dropping after two months. All her basis lies in the original contract. If Yelp allows, I will post her contract here. The audience here who are studying law should take a look at it how thief Wu's contract was written. The company name has no "Doing Business As" registered in Fairfax County Court House as of the time of signing. As the other party to the contract, she has no signature on it. I called Fairfax County government Business Administration. I informed them that Thief Wu's has no court record on her business. I was told they would send a person to her business' location and inform her to register with the Fairfax County Court House. I put her in court twice. Each time, she counter-sued to claim that her contract is valid and I owe her money. The first time in court, when I saw the two volunteers show up in the court house, I immediately realized that we were sold for all those years. Her tactics: If I were guilt, you will. This thief stings. The second time, she was a lot more humble. She insisted her husband have a translator. She explained that she invited a professional into her house to explain how to do business in Fairfax County while her husband was present at the time before she started. That professional didn't inform her to register business name with Fairfax County Court House. It was that professional's fault that they didn't register in Fairfax County Court House... All three cases I mentioned above had contract signed before her business registration date. But this thief refused to give us our money back. She stole thousands from us. That this thief can go that far has something to do with Chinese community. People in this community only cared for themselves. Some people are willing to sacrifice others for themselves. This thief's contract has mistakes other than no business registration. Nobody has even questioned it until I demanded it be examined. Also, in case 1, the lady should have made big noise and alerted us. But she chose silence. It let Thief Wu continue stealing from us until 2012. The 2 5-star reviews are a typical salesman's tongue. I can see it right way. I am the parent of one of her former students. I am here to support the 1-star rating. Certainly "yelp" is not the place to suppose to trash someone. We are talking about a business here. My review here is supposed to be seen by audience who is interested in not only the sale man's advertisement, but a real customer's experience. When it is coming to "Anonymous", anybody can write and hid his/her own identity. Whenever I check on the business we are going to deal with, I like to read what 1-star writing say. It is not everybody who likes to exposure the ugliness beneath. When the people speaks, I am listening. I went to Mrs. Wu's gym in Sep. 2009 for the first time. The first check I wrote to her was to "All Star Rhythmic..." as she claimed in her advertisement. But she called me in and instructed me to write the check titled to her. After that, I paid her $12,000 checks written in her name. Among all those checks, she deposited only three of them. She cashed the rest. I have my bank statement as a prove. I should have never written checks to someone instead of business title. We paid after tax money and we should make sure the other party not hiding tax. By the time, we started with Mrs Wu, a lady took her child away and went to "Gymnastic World" http://gymnasticsworldva.... Her daughter was 6. That girl started there from Level 3. I have heard that the mother had problem with Mrs Wu Yan in "All Star..." by that time. But that lady didn't make a splash. I didn't know the detail. However, when I took my daughter to "Gymnastic World" http://gymnasticsworldva.... for trying out three years' later. Her daughter is age 9 and is in level 7 already. My daughter stayed with "All Star" for three years and with $12,000 we paid to Mrs Wu is only in Level 4. By the way, my daughter is a well known star in that "All Star..." gym. People are surprise why she left. She is 8 now. I have been very unhappy with that lady and blamed her not advise us NOT to go to the "All Star..." She knows the price difference between the two clubs. And the problem she had with Mrs Wu three years ago is exactly the problem I have with Mrs Wu three years later. It is insane to keep it quite. We paid certainly a lot more than she paid for "Gymnastic World" "http://gymnasticsworldva....; and my daughter didn't go anywhere. Her daughter thrives. I am trying to tell people here my experience. It is not worth the money either for recreational or competition level activities in this "All Star..." It is not worth the effort at all. There are some places much better academically speaking. We are the prove. "All Star..." former Level 4 team students left for "http://EleganceGymnastic... - Maryland Rhythmic Gymnastics". They would rather drive 1-hour car pool there. I learnt it too late. They should have informed me. But they didn't. I blame them for it. We should have long gone shall I have known. As a parent, I have been unhappy with the "All Star..." for long time. I didn't look around and being stupid for staying for long. The money we paid for "All Star.." owner is NOT worth it. Please, check other gym and do your homework before you sign up this one. Mrs Wu took advantage of being owner of "Sole proprietorship". She can collect paycheck in her name. Okay. I am most definitely not the coach of All Star Rhythmic. Yes, I have given it a good review. Yes, I have been a student there. Yes, I have most definitely had a great experience there. The 'different' people that wrote the negative reviews are almost undoubtedly the same person. If you check the "Filtered" reviews, you see several people with the same review written under different aliases. It is obvious that they are the same person making multiple accounts to trash this business. Now there have been people who have been unsatisfied with Alysia Wu's service, but aren't there always some people who are not satisfied with the service of companies? Also, in one review, someone wanted her Social Security Number? Those numbers are meant to be kept private and are not given out for free, especially to people whom you know may be unhappy with you. Some parents are unhappy with the way their kids are progressing in levels. However, other gyms push their students up levels and urge them to skip many levels. It is similar to skipping a grade. You don't get the full experience and miss out on lots of important things. I happen to know one of the kids that was mentioned in a review. She had many friends and seemed happy. The L4 kids that had to leave to go to another gym? It was always the parents that were unhappy. I know that many kids were happy and had lots of friends here. Naturally, there were probably times when they were disappointed after practice or were unhappy, but there was always laughter around the gym, even with shy kids. This may sound impolite, but, really, the parents are the ones that have the problem with the business. The environment is great, kids are welcomed and have friends, and students enjoy going to practice each week. I am not a parent, so I can only assume this, but doesn't every parent want happiness for their child? Success is one thing, but happiness is not always success. Parents have ambitions for their children, but they should also consider the happiness of their kids. The level fours that left the gym had lots of potential and were happy where they were. Is that not a dream come true for parents? Happy kids and potential success? I was shocked to find that they were leaving. They were much loved, and are still remembered to this day. I think there is a logic argument. We know she is having more than 30 bank accounts and she did not register her company name with fairfax county court house. one can easily check it out by calling 7036917020. it can be easily confirmed. but we don't know whether Coach Wu did her tax report honestly. If she did report honestly, then even she has 300 bank accounts it is her right to do so. I think it does not matter how many checks she have cashed out. she can argue that it is her way to manage her finance. At this point, we can only say her behavior is very suspicious but can not prove she has done anything wrong. On other words, it may be more problematic that she didn't register her company name with Fairfax county court house since she uses a trade name other than her own name writing on the contract. Therefore, I agree with you that the contract she sent out is a piece of shit. Holding onto this piece of paper and not refunding other people's money doesn't seem right to me. It is her tactics to get everybody into a hefty overhead and it is not her concern if she conducts service or how she conducts service. Personally, I do not agree with the way she handles things. I did have some minor arguments with her before. I can feel for you. It is sad that her location is the most convenient one and there is no more competitive Gym around. We are out already. You can not blame other people not going forward. $2,000 is not a big amount that attorney wants to handle. Plus, she has plenty of time during the day to go to court and other people has a full time job other place. Therefore the other people just took the loss and moved forward. I've been to All Star Rhythmic and I love it there. You can tell that all the students are great friends with each other. It is great to be on a rhythmic gymnastics team there, because although the team members there have much less training hours than other gyms, the students still learn just as much. Also, all of All Star Rhythmic's routines are original with unique choreography. Other reviewers have said that the tuition at All Star is twice the amount of other gyms. I find that it is the exact opposite. Also, other reviewers have said that at All Star, the students practice the same thing again and again. Rhythmic gymnastics is about perfection. Without enough practice, how can you expect to be first place at a competition? Every gym makes gymnasts practice a lot. Even though All Star doesn't have any high level gymnasts, it is better that way, because the coach doesn't have to worry about helping Olympic hopefuls succeed. The coach can focus on each and every gymnast, helping everyone reach their full potential. I feel like All Star has helped students discover what they can actually achieve.
